Amazing to think that Rivers has been holding onto a melody this good for so long, unable to finish it until now. And now we've ended up with one of the absolute best modern Weezer tracks, with new lyrics and an incredible arrangement. I'm glad it's finally finished and out there, because this song is excellent.

Been listening to Weezer again with the release of The End of the Game single from Van Weezer, and I just wanted to say that Weekend Woman has had such staying power that it's unlike any other song I've ever heard from them or even anyone else. It's been almost 2 years since I first heard this song and I am STILL learning to enjoy this song more each time I listen to it. This might actually be in my top 10 Weezer songs of all-time. If this keeps up in another year it might even be in my top 5!
Have you heard the other new releases called “Beginning of the End” and Hero? (Make sure to listen to Beginning of the End multiple times because it gets really good after a couple listens)

In all seriousness though, I don't know if I've got high hopes for the full album, but they haven't been the worst things Weezer have released. They're decent, catchy songs. Based on the singles alone, I give it a Maladroit/10

I was stubborn with this album and didn’t give it much of a chance at first, but going back to it I’m really enjoying it! I just couldn’t separate it from my expectations coming from the white album, and it’s still not quite as good, but it’s still very enjoyable.
I have a strong feeling Van Weezer is going to be that album everyone has been waiting for since the White Album came out.
Weezer needs to do a lot of different fun things to keep their creative juices going, and I'm ok with that as long as we occasionally get albums as instantly likable as White.
Yeah I used to hate the album then all of a sudden it just clicked with me for some reason and now I really like almost all of it. I think it's just so different than typical Weezer stuff and it came right around the time when a lot of 90s/00s bands seemed to be embracing alt-pop instead of alt-rock which made fans upset

Solid song. This one immediately grabbed my attention much more than Beach Boys and Mexican Fender. Still think Feels Like Summer is the best single but this is a real close second.

Love this song. Its remake of Burning Sun and have some vibe of O Girlfriend from Green album, and the chorus build up feels like Hang On.

Vibes from Green Album
This had the potential to be the best song on the Green Album. Oh well, I'm glad he chose almost two decades to hold onto it. I think this version is superior. At least, the verses -- has a great ambiance to it. "Burning Sun" and "Weekend Girl" are fantastic versions too. TIL that Weekend Woman had quite a history to it. Didn't know there were early alternate versions.
Indeed - "Weekend Girl" was even demoed for EWBAITE as Ric Ocasek asked Rivers to demo some Green era songs for the album. It was scrapped for Lonely Girl.

Been a fan of Weezer since '95. I own every album and although I was never as critical as most Weezer fans, I love this song. It might be one of their top 15 best songs. It sounds similar to some of the songs on The Green Album but it's a lot more refined. Actually, if that album had this song, I think it would've been the best song on the CD. It doesn't exactly have much competition though. As memorable as Island in the Sun might be, this song is just better.
"burning sun" was a b side for the Green album and is pretty much a demo version of this so your right its very Green Album like

Tony Morelli Well everyone has their own preferences, so I don't know how much I could help you. I personally love those albums though and if you just want to hear songs that match those albums, I can give you a few. "Do You Wanna Get High?" sounds like it could've been on Pinkerton. "Slob" is really underrated. It's a good song though that, from a lyrical standpoint, definitely could've fit into Pinkerton. Most fans hated Raditude, but most will admit there was a redeeming track or two. Personally, I think "Put Me Back Together" is a great song though and feels a lot more like early Weezer.
I think people liked early Weezer songs because they were raw, featured lyrics that showed vulnerability and nerdiness, and didn't follow the rules of needing a catchy chorus and beat so people could sing along, lol. A lot of their songs since then feature a more confident Rivers, and I know a lot of people don't like those songs but I think some of them are really good.
If by "more refined" you mean gutless and overproduced you'd be right. All these new singles are utter trash.
Lucas Garibaldi Production would be refinement, yes. And no one is forcing you to listen to any of these singles.

This has a modern yet classic 60s pop sound. Between this and Weezer's recent use of the 50s chord progression in Go Away and Endless Bummer, they are bringing back great things. This really reminds me of Weezer combined with The Monkees new song She Makes Me Laugh (written by Rivers, of course.) Buying the new album at release.

This album was awesome, just a fun pop album after the white album. 3 great albums in a row. I hope black album is Rivers finally releasing songs from the black hole, what perfect closure that would be for their journey.
