Frey Bentos pies are horrible! You can't get lid off 'em! Tin opener just goes round and round and the pastry (if you eat it) , is too oily and tasteless!) Waste of money Aldi is much better. Glad to see you up and about Gareth.
For canned soup I used to have Baxters. I still do for some flavours (e.g. French onion). Years back I picked up a Crosse & Blackwell's soup when it was on offer and this won me over. I ensure I always have their chicken soup and their winter veg soup in my larder. I pop into Aldi periodically and agree their Bramwell's soup is decent. They have a nice beef & veg, lamb & veg, and oxtail (which I'd not had for years). All this ensures I have a decent variety of canned soups in stock. Always handy for a quick tea time. From time to time I'll make a batch of my own soup. Leek, potato and onion is one. Root veg is another. Done in my late mum's Prestige pressure cooker (it was a wedding present from her workmates) so it's older than me. Cripes - getting on for 70 years old! Portioned into resealable fruit pots they can be frozen. Decent flavour - but not as good as mum's! Canned soup was a rare buy back then - although the condensed cans made good ingredients. Unless my taste buds have gone (don't think so), canned soups have improved appreciably over the years. That said, the Fray Bentos one you opened immediately elicited the comment, "that looks far too watery!" Yeah. Stick to Aldi!

@@DryPaperHammerBro..That’s as corny as their beef....
Top man. Thanks for that. Stopped buying the pies years ago..👍👍👍
Picked up some Ainsley Harriot packet soups in Lidl yesterday, there's American Chowder, Szechuan Hot & Sour, A Caribbean one and something else. Just to try something a bit different. Tried the Chowder one and it's pretty decent but needed more salt.
Thanks Gaz! Nearly 100k, wow! Well done, deserved. Stay strong on the wagon.
Thanks 👍
Worrying thing is that someone has taste tested that and given it the green light to go into manufacture 😂 x
Good to see that the fall did not affect your sense of taste.. Your face has cleared up well, not that you much to work within the first place... 😂😂👍
Yes! Thank you!
Big up for Aldi! The best of the tinned soups are the Heinz 'Big Soups' a lot more chunky than the normal ones!
Heinz soup is the best, but I've gone to their powdered packets as the tins are now overpriced for me.
Try the soups in the plastic pots in the supermarkets. Most of the ones I've tried are nice. And the Covent Garden ones in cartons. Those are usually £2 and are nice, I think you'd like the chicken one.
Breaks jaw, gives up the drink, takes his water from a half pint mug.😊
My friend, you have to break all ties.
Great to see you back in the saddle.
Haha 👍
Bugger… I went to B&M 2 days ago and bought 2 cans of Fray Bentos chicken soup exactly the same 🤢… thanks Gareth for pre warning us… mines going in the bin!
The soup saga begins
At least soup is easy on your jaw! Glad one was good. My Best to you from Wittmann, Arizona 🤩
Try Tesco's own brand lentil and bacon soup.
Match Aldi cream of tomato soup with Heinz. No brainer, Aldi is far superior and cheaper. Get well soon, thank you for your posts! I'm a fan! 👍
The best cream of chicken soup is from M&S and 65p
You can still find Campbells ❤ condensed soups in Morrisons Supermarket more expensive but more soup once diluted
Soup-er review! 👍😂👍 Oh yeah, heinz chicken soup is also only 3% chicken
Dead honest review.
Really useful price comparison.
Spot On !
The best chicken soup I have tasted is Aldi's cream of chicken soup (Fresh in a carton, not a tin). really nice
Not had that one
@@BaldFoodieGuy got 2 in the fridge, really nice
Excellent comeback comparison review.
Cheers pal
Fray Bentos are nothing like they used to be.
It WAS a brand that you could rely on for flavour, texture and value for money.
All change - maximise profits - never mind the customer.
That soup looked like gruel. Even the dreaded packet soups have more viscosity!
FRAUD Bentos is more appropriate.
Such a shame about Fray Bentos. An old trusted brand going so far down hill. Great video as always Gareth
Cheers 👍
Chicken soup...champion of patients, cure all.
And foil topped lucozade 😂
After a dish of that Fray Bentos I reckon you would need some chicken soup to recover.
@@ED-209UHD with orange cellophane 👍
@@Pooky-Cat The finest of tastes aswell, it tastes nothing like lucozade anymore I lived off it as I was ill in hospital as a 10 year old child for 6 months and I always had a bottle!
@@ED-209UHD I suffered with lots of 'stomach issues' as a young person and the original Lucozade was the only thing I could ingest without repeat 'incidents'.
Congratulations on 100k subs! Been here since the beginning 😀😊
Cheers 👍
I won’t be trying fray bentos I will take your word for it ❤
Nearly 100k subscribers Gareth well done mate, your plaque will be coming soon.
Made with chicken feet ,ears, forskins, eyelids, stuff (almost everything) that tastes like chicken
Chicken foreskins? I don't think chickens have them, roosters maybe hahaha
Mmmm 😋😋 😂
And beak meat.
@@debrachapman60 Yep the beak meat makes the taste a little bit sharp.
What about the bit at the back end where the eggs come out !
Congrats on 100k. Can't wait to see your Silver play button. You deserve it.
Cheers kindly 👍 😊
😂 So funny. Anyway Gareth try the Yorkshire Provender roast chicken soup, yum.
It's good!
Congratulations on 100.000 subscribers. Well deserved.
Cheers 😊
Less than 3% of the contents of either can is chicken! Yummy... 🤣
Congrats on 100k subs, well deserved Gareth x
When I was younger you need a spoon to get the chicken out the can lol with these looks like they are straight out of the tap ….these stores are ripping us off big time ….😖😖😖
It's why the Fraud Bentos soup is in B&M and not Waitrose!
Great video Gareth. Thank you for the warning. I'll not be buying Fray Bentos. I remember watching my dad eat the pies. He loved the pastry topping too. All the best, take care 👍
Cheers 👍
I have bought some Fray Bentos items over the last few months out of nostalgia, so disappointing i am sorry to say
Yes - customer loyalty no longer encourages manufacturers to cater for the customer - only for the shareholder.
Sad really!
@@childofthe60s100 -but if their products are crap, the number of shareholders will drop if no one buying their products.
Be a lot more soup reviews for the next while 😆
Ouch, cutting hard there.
Ice cream could be ok, summer after all..
Can't see reason for no curry n rice... so long as it's meat free... much like all ready meals lol
I don’t understand what you wrote.
In cream of chicken soup I always like a twist of black pepper and maybe a tiny bit of English mustard. I bet I have a pretty good of idea of what bits of a chicken go into a can of soup
you can eat it through a straw if this helps
1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ subscribers! Congratulations. Can’t wait to see your silver award when you get it 🎉
Cheers 👍
I'll stick to my tomato soup
Aldi tomato soup is also very nice.
