  • *Always listen with headphones for more accurate representation of sound:
Showing if the price difference for a very similar looking guitar is worth it. Aside from looks and some hardware quality I demonstrate whether the Strat can compete tonewise with the Shecter. Let me know which you will go with if you plan to buy either.
*In the video I forgot to mention that the Schecter obviously has one less tone pot. I do believe the Squire Tone controls are much more versatile.

FYI I put a loaded pickguard with high end pickups and regret it, does not the Fender Strat sound. Seems that even the cheapest Squier pickups have the warm tone on neck and quack, cluckie, funky in between sounds. We have been programmed by RUclips influencers to think stock Squier pickups suck, they don’t, wasting money and not getting what you want when you had it all along sucks.

Agreed about pickups, I put fat 50s in a Squire only to discover the stock Squire configuration worked better as it is taylor made for it. It may have to do with the smaller pots, because if you change pickups in an American Fender there is a noticeable difference as I just upgraded to Area 58s 61 on my APii. I still like the bullet pickups in the Squire and would gladly gig with it as backup should the Fender fail.

Im really confused between fender player strat sss vs nick johnston traditional sss for neo sould ,clean modern classic ,polyphia playing style, which of the two will be better for me????

Keep in mind this guy is using a Kemper in the link below, which will make any guitar sound amazing, but the Player has much more of that Stratty tone than the Schecter. Also not many good demos of the Johnston yet plenty of demos of the Player for a reason: ruclips.net/video/71QdGvz1P9A/видео.html

No brainer get the nick johnston with the HSS pickup configuration. It has a modern neck and Jumbo frets. You can tell the nick model makes his vibrato better. Love the more pronounced mids of the nick johnston model. A lot more harmonic overtones aswell. Bottom and a lot beefier aswell. The squire sounds like a traditional strat. It won’t be the most comfortable neck and frets to play. The pickups are quacky like a strat should be but very thin.

@@fixxxer602 I didn't like the tone of the humbucker for the HSS Nick Johnston but that's just personal preference. I do love the Ibanez HSS "Strat" but its $2k.

If your budget is tight just get the nicest Squire and youll still save money over the Schecter. If you got the cash and want Poly style, you could get the AZ series from Ibanez. Their Japan version is $2k but the Indonesian version is around $1200.

Update, for Poly and an affordable and customizable USA guitar I recommend Keisel: ruclips.net/video/kJbuJCKyGvg/видео.html

So what would be your opinion for 70's style rock and also surf rock? I'm considering both guitars but the Squires are hard for me to play because I have small hands.

    • @guitarandotherthings6090
      @guitarandotherthings6090  2 года назад +1

If you have small hands and want surf-rock the Squire Strat is as small-hand friendly as it gets! (just dont get the "mini" as it has tuning issues). The Beach Boys guitarist is a big Strat guy and did great Surf style on it. Just need a thick amount of Reverb. It also does classic rock very well. Especially with simple overdrive. The Nick Johnston neck feels about the same but for a full size body the Squire has the thinnest neck. You may look into vintage Ibanez necks that are supposed to be thinner.

Agreed, I was disappointed with the Schecter. I'll stick with the originals from now on. Its not worth the price difference of the nicest Squires you could get instead.

WOW No disrespect Squire if you play like this as a beginner.. Nick Johnson Strat My Opinion here for the serious Player, go listen to Nick play both please after watching this video, everyone has there own opinion taste I am not Judging. However, comparing a Squire, which is sweet I have a few I mod the shit out of cheap they are nice However, apples and oranges.. You all Please Go listen to a few other players that have same NJ Strat will blow you away and in no way could that squire hold its own let alone tuning issue cheap electronics pups jack ect... The locking tuners baked neck his signature pups and so forth, wow this took me as really, Do you work for fender lol... Check some others vids out for the price quality I would take N. Johnson strat..... Sorry Hope I I didnt ruin the party and in no means no disrespect... Thxs for posting up, I think its just personal preference and thats ok...

It all had the same amp settings, my point is the tone isn't THAT much of a jump to the NJ. Tone is most important. And the Squire stays in tune for 3 days. So the price jump from one Indonesian guitar to the next isnt justified. The NJ should be $320 at most. At $800 for the NJ you could pay an extra $300 for an American Kiesel.

@@guitarandotherthings6090 I can agree 👍 you want that bell strat overtones. I found the NJ like 6 and change. Price point ect. Always swap out pups if already have. I'm just impressed with the already upgrades Locking tuners , The xl nut, two point trem stays in tune, 22 XL frets, baked maple neck, pups yes sound darker that can be fixed to your taste. And again not putting squire down have loved those cheapies for long time being a poor wanna be player they just work, but then I replaced tuners, the bridge and pups. Have you seen some of the demos, out here. Pretty amazing schecter been around for a very long time. And again this is my humble opinion not trying to troll you say your wrong ect no disrespect. Have you seen the new squire sienna burst poplar body, oh yes sir I pulled the trigger on that one. Gr8 video keep playing sounds gr8....

@@MarkAnthony5150 Thanks. I just think for the price of NJ models, both the Indonesian and USA models, there are so many comparable models at that price, whether with the Player series for the NJ Indonesian or high end Fender USA models for the NJ USA pricepoint. NJs is a copycat model that isnt as good as those in its same price. I will say the NJ had the best pop in whammy Ive ever used, even compared to my professional series ii. My pop in Fender falls out way to easy. NJs was stable. Still id rather have the Fender tone even with that hassle.

All the features you mentioned can not be discerned by listening, you say go listen, baked maple etc…. You don’t know what you are saying. Realistically Nick has a better signal chain so it’s not apples to apples. The NJ is so much more expensive so it should have better materials and quality but materials/ quality are not sound they are mutually exclusive. On the end of the spectrum just because something sounds good does not mean it is a pleasure to play, eg has good playability. Life isn’t as simple as you perceive there are many elements to consider and a third are subjective.
