There are some nasty and chaotic sprints where you have to avoid riders and thus have a dirty line. Sometimes that's just what happens in racing.
Here on the other hand there was no reason to do so: Enough space, nothing to avoid. It's totally unnecessary for Philipsen to ride this way.
For Girmay there was nothing left to do than breaking or both would have gone down.
Quite odd too that van der Poel led out from far right over to far left only to have Philipsen look across, see Cavendish (with Girmay on his wheel) and move over to the left again and fight for an occupied space.
Astonishing that no team seems to complain anymore.
We can't just close our eyes just because nobody crashed. It's the very same behaviour (changing sides without any obstacle to avoid) which caused Jakobsen to almost lose his life.

If anyone would have told me 10 to 15 years ago that one day I would cheer for Cavendish to win a sprint finish...
He launched his sprint like prime Cav, but unfortunately he ran out of gas too early. But he looked very promising today and there are still at least four chances to come. Go for it, Cav! You are a legend!

Philipsen didn’t push or block Girmay. Girmay didn’t respond quickly enough to Cavendish and Philipsen squeezed into the gap. Yes, you could say it was aggressive but definitely not deserving of a penalty.

I can understand being proud of a cyclist and rooting for your countrymen but 80% of the fans of bini are not fans they are just national lists that don't know a damn thing about the sport and how it works and to show respect to other people and towards other riders.
