  • I do not have a car with Regular Reflector lights to compare to anymore. but this should give a good description of how the matrix headlights look and work.

I have also been using the auto high beams recently and they have been very good, I pretty much can’t fault them.

That is really cool. Kinda weird at first how you can see the distinct bands of light but they look really bright.

Same thought here, if it can project TESLA onto a wall, it can also dim the zones

Why are the headlights spell out Tesla with such a low resolution? Personally, I have just noticed how my Audi E-tron's headlights are spelled out so precisely and write out my name with such a high resolution in front of the car. I assume Tesla can do that as well but what's up with the low res?

    • @scapulartech9347

Instead of having the pixel mirror style like the model S has which is the same thing that an Audi would use. The model three uses an older style of matrix like what first debut on the D4 Audi A8. Instead of having a pretty much infinitely adjustable chip with 1.3 million mirrors like Audi uses and similar model s. The model 3 has those vertical steps, and each vertical step is made of smaller little squares that come from the reflectors in the lights.

@scapulartech9347 Why is the resolution so low on the Model S too, then? My Audi always does this little animation when I'm entering that is higher res but when I watch a Model S light show, it always seems to be lower res. Are they purposely lowering the resolution or simplifying the text???

@@club6525it’s a Dot LED style matrix vs a pixel mirror matrix. 102 pixels per side on a Tesla (102 individual LEDs) vs a single LED and 1.3 million motorized tiny mirrors on and Audi.

Can anyone tell me how to turn auto highbeam off on auto steer mode? It high beams the traffic im following, it only turns off on incoming traffic. I dont wanna get into fights this is dangerous

You should be able to manually press the stalk to turn high beams back off while on autopilot. However I have seen some FSD beta cars that this trick does not work.

From what I heard, they weren’t switching them over until all the old stock was gone. Apparently the LR now ships with matrix, but unsure on the new AWD standard range model.

I can’t be the only one that hates Tesla’s stupid reflectors when I’m in oncoming traffic. They are equally blinding as a cheap HID or LED kit installed in a 1995 Honda with its NON PROJECTOR housing. And if you want to say I have poor eyesight, well I don’t have an issue at night with any other car I KNOW has projector headlights. Also, last I checked, modifying cars with HID’s or LED’s into a non projector housing was illegal because it literally does blind oncoming traffic. But somehow Tesla was able to do this 🤔

I destroyed one of the lights, from a crashed model 3 12/2021 and there is no hardware which shows the possibility to do matrix, unfortunately. The Tesla writing is a fix template

Hi! These headlights are indeed matrix lights. The software to enable the matrix function has not yet been enabled. So they still operate as old style lights do. They are definitely brighter than normal LED headlights.
