    I struggled with 1.5mm rubber and a cooling day. I cut a 200mm length of 2nd part of trim and used that to push the edpm into the top groove in short sections. It stayed in place and then made it easy to push and click the cover piece.

    Great video as usual, I have just fitted a long section on my own on a coldish day. I found after cutting the rubber i used a thin scrapper to push the rubber into channel this made fitting the second profile much easier..... for an old bloke.

Thinking about trying to fix it myself but after watching how good you are I think I am going to call a Pro (you) to get a quote. Great videos. Thanks v much.

    Just used this for a 1.5mm rubber roof.
    Makes it much, much harder, but still possible - easiest to fit from underneath, rather than ‘top down’. You just need a lot of strength to get the rubber inside the lip.
    Great video!

  • @kawasaki32

    The trims will bow between the pins if get any sunlight in summer and epdm will retract especially with the amount of water base your using.

    • @tlangdon12

      Long runs will need an expansion gap in the first parts of the trim (1mm per meter should be sufficient), the second part of the trim should be ok if it is butted together as any expansion will just cause it to slide along the first trim.

    How come your team has shrunk is it the usual you teach people how to do and then they go off and under cut you, the grass looks good but you do end up with things growing in it, I did 50sq metres in the garden about 3 years back and every now and again get on hands a knees to pluck out small weeds and grass, when you put it on a roof do you still put dried sand in the piles to keep the grass standing up also does it help with regulating temp on the roof.

    Who in the world designs this crap!!! As a general contractor for 40 years and of course roofing this is a complete disaster! There is no way that clip in pieces that easily slides will hold that rubber as it shrinks over years creating bubbles on top edge of the roof. Then we have another serious problem. The top edge of the roof is already built out ¾ inch then the snap in piece at a 45° bumps out again totaling up about 1 ¾ inch bumping which would be normal if there was a singled pitch roof. An average pitch roof because of the minerals on the shingle slow the water runoff. Rubber roofs the water runoff is super quick! Meaning you do not use much drip edge on rubber roof so the faster water speed run off doesn’t miss the gutter below? Want more proof. When you have two for 4/12 pitch roofs intersecting we use long pieces of metal flashing creating a gully between those two roofs. The water running off that metal gully many times you see a splash guard added to the gutter in that spot Obviously the engineer that came up with this designed system has no clue what he was doing has no basic knowledge of water runoff

      @@thegardenroomguru Seriously because you don’t like basic physics and math, can’t accept things like speed, gravity commonsense and you come back with this reply. The backyard engineer would figure this out of what I said. I’m from the states maybe gravity and water off must be different in your part of the planet. Or it must be just different on your part of the planet. If so we need to call all the scientist to prove water tension and gravity is different in your neck of the woods

      @@johnknowing-zr8de I’m not sure how much rain you get, but it sounds a lot. We very rarely get a deluge and the roof on a garden room is pitched very minimal.
      It can handle it, again, your very irate, what’s your problem?

    • @johnknowing-zr8de
      @johnknowing-zr8de 9 месяцев назад

      @@thegardenroomguru It’s amazing I’ve seen it time and time again when someone is criticized because of basic physics and math. The response is what you have been doing. Instead of learning about those basic and physics you chose to do the latter. I’m not irate that’s in your head. I’m actually a very jovial easy contractor to work with. And it’s not about as you call it a deluge. A big thunder storm happens in most all parts of the world. I'm from the state’s in Pennsylvania. Just four weeks ago a property owner had a rubber roof laid over a shingled mineral roll low slope roof. I happen to be there the day we had a good thunderstorm as the building owner I were standing there looking out we saw water flying off the roof most of the water was missing the gutter. He commented that never happened before> I explained to him like I explained to you. This was in the city where we cant have water like that flying off the roof missing the gutter. I’m not irate don’t be so sensitive tried to fight basic facts and physics it’s not a debate is simple science. What I said I’ve been a builder from the ground up no subcontractors. A structural rehab specialist. This might work in your little Garden meaning it doesn’t matter if water miss your gutter. But if this is on someone’s home, a lot of people the sidewalk will get wet and the building’s façade will be exposed to a lot of water for no reason You’re also missing the point that clipped in piece will not hold that rubber roof slipping past that metal and in time will pull and shrink creating a bad rubber roof edge like theirs bubbles on their rubber roof leading edge will be loose that way in time

    • @thegardenroomguru
      @thegardenroomguru  9 месяцев назад +3

      @@johnknowing-zr8de but it’s not, it’s a garden room.
      And the people on the side walk? Well, if it was raining hard enough for the water to miss the gutter, then they are already pretty wet, I’d imagine they would be running too, but this is all what if?
      It’s a garden room my friend, don’t over complicate it with what ifs, do you know the pitch of my roof? Or is your great knowledge of physics allowing you to calculate it from a video?
      Wind you neck in, it’s just a garden room in a “little” garden 😊
