When using her head-voice she puts in too much effort, which makes her sound like a squeezed cat. Compare Sia's live performances to Marina's. You'll clearly see the difference.

I love how raspy her voice was during this era but I hate that it was because she was overworked and her technique wasn’t the best, which wound up coming close to severely damaging her voice forever. Thankfully she backed off performing so much and started taking lessons but I still weirdly miss the rasp lol
