Okay. I see what you are saying. But I wasn't saying "even better" to her injuring her vocal cords. I said it as it was nice to hear that she kept going and pulled through even though her vocal cords were injured. That makes her a true performer and really dedicated to her career. She could have canceled, but she didn't. So bravo to her.

This is the first time in a long time that I've heard an artist's live performance that sounds almost identical to their recorded song ..! She's amazing!
I know this was from 8 years ago but it’s even more impressive when you realise that she had a issue with her vocal cord at the time
But that should not be the goal. Anyone looking for a live performance that sounds the same as a recording should just listen to the recording really loud at home and pretend there's an audience. It's quite unfair to artists to expect them to recreate a studio performance live. The only reason that's achievable here is she is in a very controlled, studio environment, just not as controlled as a recording studio.

Lona Delery Music I think it's more about lyrics. Marina's music focuses very much on real lyrics. I know Primandonna isn't the best example to go by. Obsessions, Lies, Fear and Loathing, I'm a Ruin and Happy. Are some of my favorites.
Lona Delery Music Probably 'cause both are the modern queens of Indie Pop...And I think many people put them together 'cause most diamonds are LDR fans and vice-versa (like me)

Really impressed by her vocals and the fact that she just stands at the same place but remains entertaining. She has a lot of charisma. She releases great old-fashioned pop music with some actual substance and her vocals are on par with those of Kate Bush. Raw talent! Marina And The Diamonds deserves more success!

Well, first of all, as stated above me, I believe, it does make high notes hard to hit, and if you dont quit, they will become increasingly difficult. Although, the one misconception is, it makes lower notes easier, as well as not being painful.
Smoking, gradually over time, will cause your voice to deepen, as well as have a sort of rasp, or "gravel" to it.
And, it will also make your voice a whole hell of a lot more quiet, causing you to exert more effort. And on top of that, leads to deterioration of the larynx, as well as cancer, heart disease, strokes, etcetera, etcetera.
That ^ is why she sounds different.
