    Quite a bit of misinformation. It’s not relying on the air in the fish to detect it. The Deeper does show your lures, sticks, anything suspended underneath it. Most helpful thing you said is that it’s heavy. Use 65lb braid and you’ll be fine. I’ve never broken off and been using them for more than 10 years.

      Sonar works on picking up fish by the air in diaphragm. The bigger the arch or symbol the more is air in the diaphragm represents bigger fish.
      Yes sonar does pick up vegetation and other objects in the water but fish indicator is all based on air in diaphragm. There are several post on Deeper Pro explaining this.
      Thanks again for watching

    Is it really practical to rig a whole rod for a castable sonar or jjst tie some thin paracord and launch it?

    • @GettingitDoneFishing
      @GettingitDoneFishing  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the comment and watching.
      Really you can use anything you want or can to get it out in the water. As long as you have enough line throw it out there and bring it in. That will work just as good as casting it with a rod and reel.
      Hope this helps.

    Thanks. Are the types of bottoms (rock? mud?) indicated on both?

    • @GettingitDoneFishing
      @GettingitDoneFishing  7 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks for watching and the support.
      They both claim you can tell the bottom contour and bottom hardness.
      The Deeper is far better at doing this than the Garmin. Bottom hardness is kind of tough to figure out and takes some time to figure out.
      Both will pick up grass, hydrilla, and other vegetation pretty good. I found deeper will pick up more structure then Garmin. I can pickup big rocks and concrete better with Deeper. Small rocks or small piles on the bottom Deeper also does a better job on pick that up then Garmin.
      By far Deeper is way better than Garmin. If you are serious about a castable sonar then Deeper is the way to go. Spend some time with it and you will learn to pick up all the small contours of the bottom along with all the other stuff in a pond like logs, tree branches, vegetation, and even how hard the bottom is.
      You will even start to learn the difference between bass and other fish.
      Hope this helps. If you have any other questions let me know.
      Thanks

    Thinking of using the deeper as a portable fish finder on remote trips. I’m a spearfishing guide and often work in very remote areas on small local fibre boats. I’m wondering if I can troll this unit behind the boat and still get a reading? Or do you think there’s an alternative portable fish finder/transducer set up that I could travel with and easily set up on one of these small fibre boats? Cheers mate epic video

      Thank you for watching and the comment.
      Deeper pro is a way better product then Garmin Striker. Deeper is the best portable fish finder on the market.
      Yes you can have Deeper behind your boat as you troll and it will work. I believe it will read for over 300 feet.
      Deeper uses blue tooth on your phone to connect to the app. If you are in places where you don't get good phone service you will have a hard time getting it to work.
      From my experience the better the phone reception the better connectivity you will have with the device. This is really key since this is how the device and phone transfer data.
      I hope this helps. If you have any other questions please let me know.

      It really comes down to money and what you are looking to do with them.
      If you just want to cast it out and see depths, water temp, and find fish then Garmin would be it.
      If you are looking to map out the whole pond or lake and what as much detail as possible then Deeper Pro.
      If you have the money and looking to buy the best one then Deeper Pro.
      Garmin is great for the price just keep in mind you won't get all the bells as Deeper Pro but you will be able to see fish.

    I have both and just can’t get the fish to show up like a nice curved arch. It keeps showing little bits and dots in the water and marking them as fish. I know there are fish in the water so I can’t completely dismiss them but hard to believe the little dots are medium sized fish.

    • @GettingitDoneFishing
      @GettingitDoneFishing  4 месяца назад +2

      Thanks for watching and the comment.
      All sonars work the same they pick up air in the diaphragm. The bigger the air pocket the bigger the fish. A bunch of small arches most likely are bait fish. Bigger arches are bigger fish.
      Have you tried to change the setting to show fish symbols instead of the arch. That might help.
      On both there is a setting that you can adjust to help clarify what you are seeing. To low brings in a lot of junk and pretty much impossible to see the fish. Play around with this setting until you find what is working best or what is the clearest setting. This might be the issue.
      Hope this helps.

      I don't think the air in the diaphragm comment is correct, otherwise it wouldn't pick up my lure, weed, structure etc. Anything with a different density than the surrounding water should return a signal.

      @@deanduffy1494 Thanks for the comment and watching.
      Promise me I'm correct. I've done a lot of research on this topic.
      How a sonar determines a fish or not is by detecting air in the diaphragm. The arcs on the sonar is the air. A bunch of small arches is bait fish. Bigger the arch the more air is detecting meaning bigger fish.
      Link below goes into more detail.

      Not sure what you are asking. Sorry.
      For the Deeper Pro + and Deeper Chirp you can map a whole lake that you can look at any time. The mapping function is pretty in depth and gives good contour of the lake or pond.

      First for mapping I'm pretty good at remembering depths and contour for a pond when I'm using them But mapping is pretty good if you want to take time prior to going fishing to review the lake and get a plan on where you want to fish.
      Deeper Pro already has GPS built in so does the Garmin.

      Is the issue cell phone coverage
      I know sometimes I have issue connecting to the deeper pro depending on where I'm fishing. If I have bad service on my phone the deeper pro pretty much won't connect and can't do anything with it. I've had this happen in PA where I was in a really bad cell reception area couldn't get it to work. I just put it away.
