Great to see you doing a feature for Carpology Martyn. Hope to see more. You’ve worked hard to get here and deserve the recognition that you are now starting to receive. Well done buddy.
I’m interested in using a deeper chirp plus in the river delta of Stockton California USA. Problem is at tide changes current can get very fast and strong. Typically use 3-6 ounces of lead free pyramid sinker to keep bait in place on a regular day up to 8oz after that I pack it up and barbecue. Question is this; can I use a sliding sinker rig or a casting sinker rig to keep my deeper chirp plus sonar in place without affecting performance? If not it probably won’t be useful for my high tide fishing from the bank methods of wild river carp hunting. Thanks for a great video no matter what. Tight lines from the best coast.
I think as long as it doesn't submerge under the water it would work. They say not to reel it in to fast because if it goes under the water the WIFI single won't transmit....it can't through water.
Thanks for all the info. Maybe next time you can do a vid on using the Deeper behind a boat. Does it have a transducer or due you simply drag the Deeper behind the boat? Also can you tell if the Deeper works in flowing water like a river? Thanks
Watching you from the USA 🇺🇸 Here in the States generally speaking we don't fish for Carp. Some do fish for Carp but generally speaking we do not. Here in the States we consider Carp as a Bony Bottom Feeder Junk Fish.🤢 I gather that fishing for Carp is popular in the UK 🇬🇧 Tight Lines 🎣
Just finished a 4 nighter on Baden hall, luckily I didn't blank but only because I had fish showing in my swim on day 2. The weed was horrendous and this thing would have been a life saver because finding a spot was impossible!!!
very professional Martyn well done you, i have one question for you, was Joe whinging keep making him walk around the lake, as he does whinge a lot when he's not sitting down or relaxing, just asking for a friend
When you clip the deeper up over the spot do you have to add on a few foot for swing back? I usually clip 3 foot short for every 1 foot on a spod rod. So with a deeper in thinking add on a extra foot for every 3 foot of depth to hit the spot directly below the deeper? *The swing back generally only applies to water deeper than 7ft
Wouldn’t exactly call this a masterclass. Half the time he’s talking about what’s on the screen with very little info and you not actually showing us what’s on the screen. But disappointing really because I’d have loved to see it as you’re talking about it.
@@MartynsAnglingAdventures I’ve just recently purchased the Chirp +2 and I’m struggling a bit with what I see on the screen with regards to finding clear spots. Searched all over RUclips for some in depth tutorials and I really thought this would be it! You’d do well with something like that because you do explain things well and there isn’t much out there. Thanks anyway 👍
so i thought this thing was gonna be pretty fuqn awesome but i just figured out that for us dudes that want to use it on a boat/kayak that it will absolutely kill our phones. direct sunlight will make the phone dangerously hot that it will shut down and not turn back on until cool. now add to that the screen will need to be max brightness... just so we can barely see anything, and we all figured out that the phone gets uncomfortably toasty after a few minutes on max brightness even in an airconditioned room. this lil gadget is for shaded shore fishing only. my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. seriously, i spent all day looking at sub $300 fish finders and i really thought i finally found it.
Don't people mainly recommend using the Garmin or other more standard fish finders if you are intending to specifically use them on boats or kayaks? They come with their own screens and all that. I feel like the main advantage of the deeper is the fact that it accommodates shore fishers and if you wanted could also be used on a kayak. You can't use other fish finders which probably have better definition when fishing on shore.
Each model getting £100 more than the last, but is it actually bringing results yet? Still to see a video from start to finish of deeper use, finding fish, translating the deeper distance to actually getting the hookbait there, then catching. Not sure such a video will ever be made. 300 smackers well spent 🙄 Curly make such a video or I won’t buy shit
Disappointing review does not show the functions available of the deeper chirp 2+ just your person preference ie different screens, fuctions camera was more on you than the the deeper screen . A review of technology should be focused on its capabilities not the person using it.
So what you saying, is all the fisherman who have used the Deeper on the lakes and other lakes deeper has collected the information free of charge and now selling it. back to you what a con
Martyn When I get to my swim I start off finding a spot with my deeper, then like you I lead around any likely spot to double check I get a good drop I follow up with a marker float to triple check the depth and then I cast out my fish spy to actually see what the spot looks like and if all those checks look good I cast my bait to the spot and follow it down on the fishspy to make sure its presenting and everything is tickety boo!! How can anybody say I am cheating!!!! its just attention to detail!!***
@@MartynsAnglingAdventures If you want to scan the entire lake for features in a couple of minutes and have the ability to ‘find fish’ on your phone screen, that’s absolutely fine. But when does it stop? Do you want a reel that winds them in for you? So much skill is being taken out of carp fishing by devices like this, drones and bait boats. It’s okay if you want to make fishing as easy as possible for yourself. But to me that’s not what it’s about. The challenge of fishing is the exciting bit, being able to go weeks without a bite for an alarm to scream into life out the blue and battle to commence. It’s very similar to the people that support football teams that win every game. Winning becomes very repetitive and normalized. I’d rather support a shit team because when they win it actually means something and that’s what people seem to be losing sight of. I’m very aware people won’t share this opinion and think hauling 25 fish out of Farlows in 24 hours is good angling. However I couldn’t think of anything much worse and it takes no skill because everyone can do it. People have become obsessed with looking like good anglers on social media and less about being good anglers. If you want to take shortcuts that’s fine with me but it’s cheating whether you like it or not. Like the shortcut of learning a lake by casting that tosh out. You can say it’s just technology improving but ultimately fishing is a ‘sport’ and lets apply that to another sport. Imagine a Paralympian in the 100m final with robotic legs that could do it in 6.00 seconds. Do you think the other athletes would be cheering for them? ‘Oh what a wonderful advancement in technology’ they cry. No I don’t think so, they’d be wanting them disqualified for fucking cheating. The only thing that even makes these inventions arguable is that fishing essentially doesn’t have any rules like other sports, but it should.
@@MartynsAnglingAdventures depends if you’re part of the new generation of carp angler that’s evolved in the last 10 years that wants it handed on a plate….

Can these be used on rivers?? Relatively fast flowing rivers? Obviously you will have to crank it in quickly before it goes too far down stream.
Great watch as always martyn useful information on deeper had mine for years always helpful to reboot memory look forward to the next vid 🎣 👊

Is the middle of the screen where the deeper is?
The far right is always what’s happening. Everything left is the history
Do you eve get it taken by pike as I get it alot so I use wire trace 12 inch long

Are these only good in calm lakes, or can they be useful in fast-moving rivers and creeks (or even surf)?

Tie it on with braid
