Perfectly spooky and delicious chocolate Halloween cupcakes decorated in five easy designs. Mummies, Frankensteins, skeletons, spiders and Jack O Lanterns will be adorning your table in no time!
Halloween is definitely the time to go all in on your baking and sweets so this year I decided to to a fun group of spooky/cute cupcakes. I wanted them to have a wow factor but not be overly complicated or time consuming. Most of these cupcakes don’t require any piping tips to make, just snip the end off of a bag. I used buttercream, melted chocolate tinted black with food coloring, M&M’s and candy eyes. No fondant!

I just discovered you and LOVE your videos! I'd love you to say more about WHY you do certain things. It helps me to understand why you need to let eggs come to room temp, or why you put sugar in with your dry ingredients, etc.
He had said in a video that he uses room temp eggs so that he doesn't put cold batter in the oven. I'm assuming the rule doesn't apply for cookies that you would refrigerate before baking.
I seriously cannot believe this channel doesn’t have a million subs already!

John, you are hands down the reason I have a newfound passion for baking. I just recently started baking from scratch and I LOVE IT. After watching your videos, I asked my boyfriend to get me a stand mixer and he did just the other day! I've made your vanilla cupcakes, smores cookies, and banana bread. A helpful tip I learned about making black is to add brown food coloring or small amount of cocoa first then add black..you don’t use as much black and it’s not as bitter
Being a chef by trade my 5 yr old is around a lot of food. But this video has 2 of her favorite things: baking and Halloween! She even hit rewind to hear the "purk" again. And it was one of the most fun of the videos we've seen so far. Ty for the great videos!

I LOVE how easy it is to fill piping bags by putting them in a cup and folding the excess over. Then just scrap on the side of your desired height cup! Super easy!

mayo is a great substitute for sour cream or plain yogurt! i just feel like it's something most people always have in their fridge, it makes it SUPER moist and doesn't taste like mayo at all haha, much better end result than the sum of it's parts, just a little tip!
I make a mayonaisse cake with cream cheese frosting. My family loves it.

For the background color of the mummy, you could use lime green too. Black can be very staining to the mouth. Just an alternative idea.

I have the scraper paddle and though it does work, you’ll still need your spatula. It is a good investment though. I love using it when I am beating butter and sugar. Good luck ❤️
