    Re mags, I noticed MAC was loading the 30 round mags with 32 rounds. Maybe that contributed to some of his problems. Another possibility is that Grand Power may have put in stiffer springs on the most recent mags? When I first get any gun I always don't try to fill the mag right to the top until the mags get broken in a little. I noticed HIckok 45 says he does the same in several videos. No question that these Stribog mags would be better with metal lips but mine have been fine though the first 1200 rounds or so through my US gen2 gun. Also I noticed you can load the stribog mags with the round all the way to the back or you can load the round to the front with 2mm or whatever space behind the round. I don't know if that makes any difference or not. Many gun mags are this way and I always make sure the bullet is seated all the way to the back in the mag (on any gun).
    Re version of the gun, does the newer one in this video have the "2 rod" buffer setup or the 1 rod buffer setup? MAC's second video where the gun was running without any issues is a 2-rod version, while his first video where he was having issues was the new 1-rod version. Mine is a 2-rod and no issues so far (1200 rounds or so).

      Hi Mike. You can now get Gen3 steel-lipped Stribog mags, from several sites. They sell out quick. Jury is still out re: reliability using them in Gen 1 or 2 Stribogs: I've tested them successfully with Blazer bulk target ammo, but VERY poor results when shooting (supposedly high quality) Sig 124gr. HP ammo. Good luck!

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  4 года назад +1

      The steel lacks the lubricate to move well in the magazine. It happens with some hi-cap mags and uncoated steel cases.

      I had terrible problems running Sig 124gr. HP ammo with steel-tipped mags through a Gen2 (blowback, non-reciprocating) Stribog. Led to gun damage, sending it into GO today for repairs. No problems when I ran the cheaper 115gr. bulk ammo through the same combo. I also had durability issues with the original poly mags: they would crack at the feed lips if not handled gently. Let me know which combinations have worked well for you.

      @@mikestevens2053 How did it lead to damage of the firearm?

    • @mikestevens2053

      @@GBGuns Hi Graham. My careful clearing of a few ugly stovepipes somehow led to the bolt catch spring being damaged. Leading in turn to a service ship back to G.O. for repair. I'm a pretty careful guy, I never drop mags to the ground, keep the guns clean, protect from scratches, etc. I purchased the Sig ammo at very high cost (>$1/rd), just to have some extra "quality" carry ammo in this shortage. My son reported that he thought it "messed up" in his nearly new CZ scorpion the week before, and was "acting weird" in his friend's FN pistol, so we were at the indoor range basically doing what you're doing in this video: cross-checking under sandbag conditions with same mag/different ammo. We had no problems with any other ammo, from cheap bulk, to Federal, to Magtech, to S/V, both 115 and 124 gr. My G19 shot the Sig ammo fine, but it's not a finicky gun. The Stribog is DEFINITELY a finicky gun IMO. Maybe my favorite to shoot, but seems to always have a mag or ammo issue. Some others on the internet have reported the same thing. I'm not giving up on it, but would love to have 2-3 consecutive range days with no malfunctions to build my confidence. For the time being, home invaders will have to settle for 00 Buckshot, served up hot from a very reliable Mossberg. BTW thanks for this video!

    Why did Grand Power not use the rotating barrel lock up of their pistols rather than blow back???
    That is a mystery. Why is there would be:
    a) less mass of the weapon
    b) less volume of the weapon
    c) less recoil transmitted
    d) significantly less powder fouling running suppressed
    Why I am concerned about mass and volume of the weapon is that thing is the size of an AR... so what is the advantage to something like the Extar? The Extar weighs 1/2 as much. The Extar has less recoil transmitted as well as better trigger. And, the Extar costs much less money, effectively 1/2 price with brace/stock
    At the end of the video... what is that sound popcorn?

    • @p331083
      @p331083 4 года назад

      Thats like saying what does a Scorpion have over a Extar.

    • @kimballscarr
      @kimballscarr 4 года назад

      @@p331083 Noting I can see. Perhaps the Extar might be better being effectively 1/2 the price, and having an excellent trigger pull compared to the Scorpion. Perhaps the style of the Scorpion is sexier, I don't know, as that is so important these days. As to any military use, all I can say is soldiers in the ranks have no say in the matter and use what they are issued.
