Enjoyed this very much Amanda. You are NOT stocking too much! In the environment we are in with possibility of food, etc. shortages, you are WISE and fortunate to be able to stock up. It's smart to do it where you will spend less & get the most. You have a proven storage system and you ensure almost nothing goes bad. You are being prudent and smart and this will save you money, time and help protect you as you travel. You are very self-sufficient, something more of us need to improve upon. God Bless and you and Frank travel safely and enjoy yourselves. :=)

Even if you weren't going up north, it's very smart to have a good food store to see you through any long term emergency situations. Going off the beaten track and into wilderness locations as you do, if anything mechanical happens to Truck, you have shelter and food to last for some time. Also, with unpredictable income sources, it gives great peace of mind to know you won't go hungry. I'm prepared for well over a year :)

I love seeing what and how other travelers provision. I do wish I could find more dried sweet potato. I have a small travel trailer and try to prep before I travel, but I am in locations where I can easily and relatively inexpensively find goods. One tip I have for those glass bottles and jars is that you can put elastic hairbands (the thin kind with soft covering) around each bottle/jar to keep them from making noise and potentially crashing into one another on bumps risking breakage. I usually put 2-3 bands/ bottle or jar. I feel like doing that has proven quite helpful, after losing a bottle that really caused a mess.

Good food and food that is healthy are sometimes hard to find. Your food gatherings did not seem to be hoarding but rather judicious planning for the long haul that might cost more as travel can take longer. Plants and foraging for natural resources are pretty natural and knowing what to pick and not are the experiences of the people who live in nature. Even Frank is actively enjoying the treats of nature. 🎉

You should go through the dried food and eat it all yearly. I do the same and just went through my dehydrated hiking food and there were mealy bugs in all the powdered items. I really appreciate the fact that you are being very mindful of the cost and supply factor that the northern's have to to deal with and that you are coming in, self reliant, without imposing and taking what little they have for themselves. Very thoughtful. And WOW you are stocked !!! I could learn a few things from you.

Amanda, thank you for showing us your provisioning tactics. I'm like you, I like to have plenty of food in store for use. I wholeheartedly agree with you, it's more comfortable knowing you'll have what you need. Especially given where you're going. Smart shopping too!

You have inspired me so so so much in just the few days I have been watching. I have always wanted to go out and live a van life- but have always paused. I decided this weekend was the weekend it would be started. I have an elderly red heeler also- a girl :) Frank warms my heart bc I wa sap worried about taking her with me, but I see now it can be done. Thank you for the bottom of my heart.. I cannot explain what you have done for me.

I am a bit of a prepper too! Lots of beans, lentils, rice, flour, canned tomatoes, oils, herbs and spices etc. I sure am appreciating all the things I bought on sale over time and am reaping the benefit now with so much inflation. Also I am in Port Alberni and our highway is closed down due to fire, with the only way in or out a logging road that is much longer and is only open to traffic twice daily. We are trying to let the truckers use it for bringing in food and fuel, but I don't worry about running out of food because I have plenty. I really enjoyed seeing what food you buy and how you stored it. Your storage is impressive and the potatoes in paper bags is the way to go. That waterfall at the beginning was amazing! Great video! So looking forward to seeing some of your trip!

Very interesting how organized you are. So ,ugh space in your van for the food storage. I can relate with food hoarding. My pantry is full because I have a fear of running out of food. 🤷🏻‍♀️❤️ can’t wait for your next video!

Have you ever considered a cargo rack for your van? Mounts in your tow hitch socket. Allows for about 12 Sq ft of in van free space

I have driven the Alaska Hwy. Make sure sure you have spare tires, at least two. It was the most amazing trip to Ross River and Faro in the Yukon, it was amazing!! I will never forget it, ever. The beauty you will see, the blues are bluer and so on. Stay safe and cuddles to Frank!
