    I will say this America did get something right for sure making the bald eagle our national bird. There is no bird in the world like it a beautiful bird. a formidable opponent.

    I'm sure this sounds incredibly egotistical, but does any other nation have a national bird as magnificent as the bald eagle? This is an amazing rescue effort on the part of this park ranger and the others involved, and they have every right to feel a connection to these most regal of all raptors. Thanks for the story, Michael George!

      I don't know if you were expecting an actual answer, but as far as magnificent national birds go, India's peacock is pretty far up there!

    • @tomillakockingbird1754
      @tomillakockingbird1754 2 года назад

      The peacock is certainly magnificent, but there is something about an eagle soaring overhead (Remember John Denver's THE EAGLE AND THE HAWK?) that defines the word "majestic."

    • @Amidat
      @Amidat Год назад

      Ben Franklin didn't want the bald eagle as national bird because they are bullies and thieves to other birds. Fact of history. He preferred the turkey.

      Just sharing : Mexico's national animal is the majestic golden eagle. The country's arresting coat of arms even depicts a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus devouring a rattlesnake. This draws on an Aztec legend that said you would know where to build your city once you saw an eagle eating a snake on top of a lake.

    Wow. We got some here in N. ALABAMA and TENNESSEE state border line.. I will not tell anyone where they are but they are here and come back to the same nest every year for the last 49 years. I have been protecting these birds here for 49 years. My dad and mom have been watching over the group before I was born. We have to three nest with in 4390acers.. And a wonderful high cliff range. I love fishing below where they live just to hear their screaming voice and watch them hunt the rivers. I hear them and think how lucky I was to have a mom and dad teach me about these wonderful bird's.

    However, it is not “America’s” national bird; it is the U.S.’s national bird. For much of America (South), it is the condor.

Our country's national bird is the American Bald Eagle -- You have to include "Bald" because there's another eagle named the American Eagle (not "Bald" because it's head isn't white feathered).

    Please don't harm our birds eagles were the ones that brought us native americans across the world. once long ago eagles said Dine people are my babies I'll give you a home to live on and all the native americans us native were taking away from the other side of the world and put here on native lands it is told that us native were once angels that why we have feathers to protect and do ceremony the angels taught us many things how to pray controll the weather healing people growing crops so the world was given to us with magic the bald eagle and golden eagle are the twin warriors birds the born for water or posiedon and monster slayer the two brave warriors that save the world. After the big war with giants, sea monsters and beasts. Many ceremonies are told to us by the twins warriors the ruler of land and sea the two wise angels of lands and sea. there are many more stories to be told.

    This really doesn't make any sense to me.
    I'm all for preserving the national bird,... but WHY would you want to bring them into an urban area??? What are they going to hunt in the city,.. the giant NYC rats?
    Not to mention that the protective laws that are in place can create big headaches for businesses and homeowners when a bald eagle decides to make a nest on their property.
    Again, I am 100% in favor of protecting these birds and increasing their numbers,.. but it should be focused on rural areas, not the most densely populated city in the entire nation.
    Just more naive virtue signaling that does more harm than good,... but at least folks get to pat themselves on the back.

      If a bald eagle can take down a gull.. why would pigeons or rats be out of the question? Seems like repopulating a predator to these urban areas might cull some nuisance populations 🧐
