We use Norwegian elkhunds for hunting (barking moose etc) here in Finland.
Huskies and Malamutes are frequently crossbred with each other, and “purebred” huskies and malamutes often show dna from the “other sled dog breed”.
Interesting and so calming for me! I have Cardiogram on my Apple Watch and have found that when I’m anxious I can watch a video and your voice and content must calm me because my heart rate drops quickly back down to the 60’s. I’m interested in everything dna and genetics including animals! How interesting! Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make this video!
I got embark tests for both of my dogs. They’re both chihuahua mixes from central California. We are still hoping that one of our dog’s puppies will pop up in the dna relatives 🤞🤞. She had at least one litter before we adopted her.
So, I did pop for the health panel on my pup’s Embark DNA test, and it tested for 26 breed-relevant genetic conditions and 192 additional genetic conditions, along with 1clinical tool (ALT activity, whatever that is). I’m guessing that the number of genetic-relevant conditions may vary based on your dog’s genetics. Just FYI for those who may be interested.
Chows do have blue tongues.
Our new dog we adopted could be Challa's little short haired brother. He's a mix of that special breed you hinted at in the beginning, but with the short double coat of a lab. We'll probably get one of these tests ourselves just to see exactly where our new friend comes from
Siberian huskies are known to be escape artists, too. Embark is considered to be the most accurate doggy DNA test, but others are catching up!
Absolutely! Our Siberian Husky mix and his brother are master escape artists. They are also the smartest dogs I've ever had.
You should look up an Russian experiment from i think the 1970-90s about breading foxes where they segregated foxes by if the loved being with people or if they hated being with people and bread each group with eachother. After a couple generations the group that loved people suddenly diversified hair color. I believe you can buy some of these people-loving fox breeds today.
I used to have huskies, and they were such escape artists, and loved to run, even when they were old. Huskies have a lot of wolfiness because they, even recently, have interbred with wolves in the arctic. Thank you for doing these tests and letting us know. I have one little chihuahua mix. Would like to get him tested!! He’s such a funny dog!!
I heard that Lhasa Apso and Shih Tzu were interbred alot during the 80s and treated as interchangeable. However the Lhasa Apso is from Tibet while the Shih tzu is from China so they are 2 separate breeds but the Lhasa Apso is considered the "parent breed" of the Shih Tzu.
You have an adorable family, dogs and kids!
My guess - Husky, Border Collie, Labrador retriever (?)
Is the tongue a Chow trait?
My puppies names are Banner after Bruce banner and Romanova after Romanoff, I was also thinking of getting another puppy named T’challa 💕
My test came back so wrong that they must have mixed the samples.
Wow. You should ask them to redo it.
this was so cool! :)
