Good morning Annette, just live life day by day and do the best you can with what you have got! Tomorrow is another day, gardening is a full time responsibility on it's own, then there are all the other demands we have to deal with. The display looks beautiful, sort of woody-meadow, I am sure when they grow it will make a wonderful display. You have to lift dahlias I have to get mine from the pots into the soil!! Miles apart but we are busy with the same plants, quite strange!! Do not become too concerned, nature has a wonderful way of catching up, just enjoy what you are doing. Kind regards.

Thank you. Yes, I'm trying to just do what I can in the hope that the garden will survive and I can re-focus in the spring. 😊🌸

Thank you for sharing with us Annette. Don't let the garden overwhelm you. What gets done gets done, the rest has to wait for another day. Cosmo is gorgeous, hard to be cross with him.

Thanks Viv, I'm trying to do a little every day in the garden, but, as you said, it'll all get done eventually. I adore Cosmo. You are so right, though, it's impossible to be properly cross with him 😆

Hi Annette! Once again I can't stop giggling from your video with Cosmo. I wish I was your neighbor so we could chat about all the flowers and I would be cracking up all the time. It is funny how British gardeners watch our American folks and I watch all the Brits, ie: Monty, Rosie and the fabulous Annette!!!😊

I proper laughed at Cosmo by the time he appeared for a fifth time. Very cute. And i agree with your choice of pot; very clever. The way it curves in will actually also support the bulbs - well done! I am going to copy you. Xx

I'm sitting under blankets with a rotten head cold and sore throat and enjoyed every minute of this. I've never tried Amarillas. Maybe I can this year because how you "dressed" this is so nice.
I hope your mum is well. ❤

Welcome back, Annette. 😊. I have just replaced my amaryllis this year and have not yet potted them, so you have perfect timing for me. I had not heard to soak the roots, so I will do that for one and not for the other and see what happens. In the past I have kept my amaryllis year to year and had them bloom twice in a year. I put them out on the balcony for the summer in a shady spot. I put sand, dolomite lime, and charcoal in the soil when I am potting them up in tall 6 inch terracotta pots. I am lucky enough to have a south, southeast bay window that I grow them in and I turn them every day as the bloom spike is growing and I have not had them fall over yet. I am looking forward to seeing if I get the blooms staggered in time for the dreary days of winter. 😊
What I am Not good at is making the pot and plant look beautiful. I will see if I can find nice pots and some moss to make them pretty for display. Thank you for the inspiration. ❤

    • @leahnichol6665
      @leahnichol6665 Месяц назад +1

Not Dolomites lime, but bone meal for bulb development. Silly me.
I forgot to mention that the year the bulb bloomed twice, it bloomed in summer. I believe from that it does not so much need to be cold, but dry. My understanding is they don’t like repotting, which is why I put sand in the soil. The next year I work the top inch or two from the top of the pot off put bone meal down and put straight potting soil on top. After there is greenery, I constant feed fertilizer- week fertilizer like I do all my houseplants.
I apologize for going on and on. I am so inspired by your video reminding me of my past joy. 😊. Thank you so much. ❤

Hi Leah, it sounds like you've had great success with your amaryllis...I've never managed to keep mine from year to year but I'm going to try much harder this year to focus on keeping them healthy in the hope that I can have free blooms in future years 😊

@@cottoverdi. Annette, you grow such complicated things, I am sure you can. When I reviewed my notes, one grower said the bulb needs to grow at least five leaves to set bud. I am not sure how many more leaves it needs to grow two flower stalks. I have a bulb with two flower stalks growing, so I may be able to find out. 😊

Very beautiful! I will save them for sure and overwinter them for years to come! We too had a bit of “storm Bert” here in Sweden 🇸🇪

2.05 Hi Annette, I hear you were in South France. I bet it was warmer.
I got back from Crete yesterday. Gosh the pilot managed to land the aircraft in Athens by going a longer route over Euvoia ,without announcing anything. It was far too windy , I guess. Anyway, we had 23C in Crete and we did some gardening at the gorgeous new place my daughter moved in.
Lots of fruit trees in the garden and Jasmine plants and others. It needs a lot of work though.
My gorgeous 18 month old grandson can say Ya and No now.
He can also say Ναι, the greek for yes and lots of other words. He is blonde with blue eyes and should have been in a magazine.
