Greetings from Los Angeles! Just wanted to say I think you have a lot to be thankful for. From the looks of it, you look like you live an honest, modest life. You have a girlfriend, a roof over your head, and your health. Very refreshing to see someone from my generation living a calm, regular lifestyle with no gimicks, click bait, or trying to sell me something by the end of the video lol. I just turned 33 and I also live a normal/regular life and I love everything about it. We're not so different in terms of the way we both live our day to day lives. Wishing you the very best on your journey! Keep going bro, you're doing just fine 👍
I have been watching videos about Korean culture for years now but I have learnt more from your videos in the past couple of days, you are Really good explaining things much better than most teachers I have known, thanks very much ❤
I like your video because I like how you're an everyday person doing everyday things . You're not buying fancy things or going to expensive places just to get likes or to get people to subscribe, plus I like the way you explain about the korean culture , helping me to understand how it's like in Korea , I have not come across anyone else who does that . Anyway I like you're style 😊
this is one of my favorite soups! i have made it in my korean cooking class. it is different here in the USA. during our hot summer months, we are looking for cold and refreshing light foods to eat. and in the winter, a nice homey soup like this one would be served. it’s so great to learn more about korean culture!!
Ha thank you, I'm very proud to be a honorary Korean today, I still have a lot to learn so I have subscribed, thank you for sharing your knowledge, country and culture, i look forward to your future videos
I've heard of 복날 from listening to Arirang radio! I love your videos so much! While I knew 복날 I have not yet had 삼계탕 yet but I would really like to try it. Where I am in Canada it has been almost 40 degrees Celsius lately so it would be a good meal! 그나저나 여자친구가 정말 예뻐요!
@@xencyp6528 yes, and also, the channel name is very (strategically) good. Anybody that search in youtube "Average korean man" automatically sees this guy hahaha.
Great video Hyungnim, I had 삼계탕 when I was in Seoul, But I mistakenly got the thicker soup one that seemed like syrup forgot what It was called. Wish I got the classic 삼계탕 :( They gave me a shot of that Ginseng alcohol, I just put it in my soup lol
Just happened across your channel yesterday. After watching Korean content of K-pop, variety shows, cooking shows and a few dramas for over two years. I’m always surprised to see a man with facial hair. I’m assuming it’s the entertainment industry that doesn’t like the moustache or beard. I always thought the Asian man looks good with facial hair. I like your channel, just a normal guy doing normal things.
I found recipes for this Korean soup at Polish websites. And it's possible to buy here also the herbs kits specially for it. So maybe one day I'll try to prepare it at home. It looks good. In my country we like chicken broths.
And to cool down during the hottest days in summer, in my country we eat sometimes the opposite - so some cold soups. For instance, cold beet soup (made of buttermilk, beetroots, cucumber, dill, chives, served with halves of boiled eggs). Or Spanish gazpacho. Or cold soups made of fruits - with some cream added and noodles also (it may be made of various fruits, for instance apples, pears, cherries, red currants also).
Hi to your lovely girlfriend 🙋♀️💐 ..Another interesting video. What I find from all Sth Korean videos, the food is so delicious, fresh, varied, and very generous....here in the UK, if we ordered chicken soup, it wouldn't taste anything like chicken, or have fresh whole (or half) chicken in it 😆 ....absolutely delicious 😋 Could you tell us what ingredients is in that brown sauce that you could dip the chicken please. Thanks for sharing 👍 👏
It's called 쌈장(ssam-jang) because it is used when we eat 쌈(ssam) which mean meat wrapped with lettuce and other veggies. 장(jang)means sauce. I am so sorry I don't know the I gradients for it because nobody makes ssam-jang at home. People buy it from supermarkets
@@average_korean_man Thank you for the explanation, very interesting...oh, that's surprising because of all the chilli pastes etc that is homemade....either way, it all looked so delicious!
You should give Korean language lessons. So many “teachers” don’t illustrate how the words sound so differently from their spelling. I’m still confused about dey and ney!
This was interesting, I think Chinese do similar things. I really would buy that herb package that you took out of the soup and then make this soup. How come that you would eat something so fatty as chicken or eel in the heat? In western medicine it is the opposite, in hot weather you are supposed to eat less fatty stuff. But I trust Korean and ancient Chinese more on this.
I knew it was eaten during the hottest days of summer but I didn't know the name for the three days. I ate samgyetang in Korea, so yummy. Now I want some!
We have a Korean, restaurant here in Chicago, that serves this dish with the dates. It's very good and is supposed to help strengthen the immune system. Peace
Wow, you would make a great guide for Americans to come to S. Korea, and a great language teacher also. Do you have a website? Why does your girlfriend cover your girlfriend cover her mouth when she chews with her hand? I see in Kdramas that women cover their mouths when laughing too. Men don’t seem to do these things though.
No, unfortunately I don't have a website. Many people cover their mouths while eating and speaking at the same time. People think it's just a manner here in Korea but not everybody does that
(1) Do you think you would be happier if you could move abroad, for example to US, and not be subject to unique pressures of Korean life? (2) Race/ethnicity in Korea Is it true that Koreans believe there is an inverse relationship between the amount of melanin in someone's skin and their human worth? Related question: Is there a word in Korean, such as "tanned" in English, that describes darker skin tone with a positive connotation?
To answer the second question, I don't think that is true. I'm sure there are some people who think that way but I haven't seen anybody who thinks like that. And I don't think there is a word for tanned. We just use the English word 'tanning' and many people do tanning not only on the beaches but also inside tanning machines as well
I hope you guy's have children or something. It'is very nice to see a normal couple and not a white man with asian women. I am son of a white man, korean woman. I wish i was a son of your dynamic.
I love how you sounded so proud and excited when your girlfriend said you can show her face on your RUclips hehe 🥰
