- It's that time again; Today we are looking at 10 great Concert Ukuleles ranging between 54GBP and 559GBP (sorry I misled you in the title). I have rounded up the ten models that we get asked about frequently but had not yet featured on this channel. The Freshman, Breedlove and Romero Creations models are pretty new to the Ukulele world but more than hold their own against the more well known Ukes currently out there in the spot light.

The other day I walked into a large local guitar shop and began browsing through their well stocked ukulele displays. I played each of the models represented which included the Kenile'a Islander (several examples), Kala, Martin, Luna, Gretch and others. I was getting sort of down about how poorly they sounded and that many seemed lacking in the quality of build. Then I piced up a Breedlove concert size and was immediately impressed with how wonderful it sounded. I was hooked!
I really appreciate your educated and intelligent reviews of these instruments and was so pleased to see that you seem to feel good about the Breedlove in this video. Thanks very much for taking the time to share your knowledge with viewers!
Just ordered the Snail UKC 498! I'm so excited. My soprano is cute, but I'm happy to have one that fits my needs better

The Romero’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing! Love the mature timbre of it.
22:38 in my opinion this uke sounds rich and tight (lol I can't really explain it) I went to five star guitars today and played the same model! what I notice is just how solid it is! Even on camera audio it has that crisp, warm tone.
The Ohana spruce is really good for volume. The snails have depth to their sound and don’t sound thin like the rest.
Thanks for weighing in with an opinion. I think the Snails punch well above their weight.
The brown parts on the Laka's binding make it look damaged from any distance away heh

I bought the Kala KA-CG as my first ukulele. Highly recommend. Sounds good, looks good and under £100. What’s not to like?
Great stuff, thanks very much. I love the Freshman range, and I would like to ask if the technical wood fretboard needs hydrating periodically as a solid wood does? Thanks David 😎🎶🎸
That's a good question. I find that lemon oil does help liven the look up but I think it does little hydrate the material
@@SouthernUkuleleStore I use D'darrio 'Hydrate' for all of my instruments and find it really good, but I thought that the 'manufactured' wood may be different. Thanks very much David 😎🎶☔
The big question Alex, what would your choice be? I'm thinking of buying a new concert and this video is pitched in the perfect price bracket for me. Leaning towards Islander for the nut width but there's something about laminate that is stopping me.
I'd be happy with the CK38 or Romero ukes.

I have been meaning to buy my first ukulele and am still undecided which one to get - i am having a hard time to decide between the KAI KCI -90, the Baton Rouge V4-C Sun and the Kala KA-CG.. i am looking for a warm tone (if that makes sense) and a good ukulele that can be handled by a beginner. Would be thankful for any recommendations!! Thank you!
For me that Kai would be the one to go for. At this price, most concerts are quite bright and a string change to some Worth's or even black nylon will warm any of those Ukes up a bit more but the Kai to me is the nicest uke of the bunch 🙂

Southern Ukulele Store Sorry for bombarding you with question - I might have a little more extra money to spend, would getting the Kai KCI 100M make a big difference to the KCI-90 due to its solid top? Thanks again for taking your time!
