Great topic. I've always love my Pablo's. Not only for the artist's on the label but especially the sonic glory of the recordings. Keep spinning Kenny
Thank Tony for your comments I appreciate it ✌️
Oscar Peterson - Night Child is one of the greatest jazz records ever to me… so underrated !
When I started buying Jazz, I bought a few Pablo LPs. I had my sub to DOWNBEAT & these guys on the label were the "old masters". Count Basie, Duke, Roy Eldridge, Clark Terry, Joe Pass, Ray Brown, etc.
My parents bought me a new stereo on Xmas 1976. The 1st LP I played - THE TRUMPET KINGS. NHOP on bass! His bass tone, huge...blew me away!
IIRC, I also got LEBLON BEACH by guitarist Al Gafa that day. I wish I had a cd/digital copy of that one.
I like how you've taken good care of your album covers.👍
I try 😊😁
Fantastic collection! God bless you.
Thank you very much, God bless you too ✌️
Hello Kenny
Thank you very much.
Best regards from Berlin
Thank you very much ✌️ 😊
If you can find, pick upthr Art Tatum solo masterpice 13 recordbox set. Here in NJ they go inexpensive - $25. A steal for a super number of records.
Pablo has become a quick pick for me, excellent, well recorded top flight series.
Another great video Kenny, Pablo and CTI are two of my favourite Jazz labels, greetings from Australia
Thank you very much ✌️ 😊
Just purchased a second copy of Benny Carter "My Kind of Trouble" off of Amazon for $14.99. I am more than pleased to have received it in pristine condition since my previous version has a terrible scratch on side one. I laughed when I saw your last entry from your Pablo collection being this album. Joined your group look forward to more great vinyl info.
Thank you very much for watching my video and subscribing ✌️
Brother Kenny, you picked up that Art Tatum Box Set for a couple dollars at a swap meet? We have to do some shopping together! Loved all your Pablo Jazz Series albums! God bless!
I Really like the John Coltrane quartet “Afro Blue Impressions” the classic quartet from Europe 1963. Sublime music and the sound quality is amazing. The best part is the $10 price for a NM in the wild , 2 record set.
Very nice video and it was easy, cheap, and fun collecting this label but on cd. I had everything you showed but that last one by Benny Carter. I missed it because it was a later period Pablo (1988). I also passed up a couple albums with Ella in concert. One I got a few weeks ago but I just order one you showed. I don't collect vocals but she's only on two tracks.
I have some on CD as well...I'll have to check at some point to see what I have. Thank you very much for your comments ✌️
Here's a couple of must-haves, IMO.
THE TRIO - Peterson, Pass, & NHOP
CHOPS - Pass & NHOP
...another outlier, HARVEST by Matrix. Matrix is a Jazz-Fusion Big Band with fretless bass virtuoso Randy Tico (think Jaco). Wish there was a cd/digital download of this one, as well!
I have that Oscar Peterson album but I do not have that Matrix album. Thank you very much for your recommendations 😊 ✌️
Hi Kenny, thak you for videos (zenon from Brasil)
Thank you very much Zenon for watching my video ✌️
I’m in Pablo mode lately. I’m up to about 50 ish Pablo vinyl in my collection. It started with Joe Pass, but went down the rabbit hole, considering the price, it’s great to get good first press jazz vinyl for a steal. I actually did a video of my fave Pablo’s that I owned in March, but I found the Coltrane Afro Blue set yesterday and that’s now on my top 5 Pablo’s. The Tatum, Zoot Sims, Dukes 4, and Virtuoso series are my faves. Subscribed!!!
I will watch your video for sure. Thank you very much for watching my video and subscribing ✌️
Coltrane's AFRO BLUE IMPRESSIONS is a bit of an outlier, no? When I did my Coltrane binge (buying evey I could), I came across this one...and thought- PABLO Records?!?!
@@jazzpunk 100 percent agree.
Hi Kenny - Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. I very much enjoy them. It is interesting to listen to your thoughts on them and being able to see all the covers. Please keep them coming.
Thank you very much for watching my videos 😊 ✌️
It's either from 50s, 60s or 70s, can't remember, but here is what I do remember, the cover had a picture of a lady in the jungle or rainforest and the whole album was instrumental music and the first song had jungle animal sounds before the music began. Trying to find out the name of the album.
Norgen To verve to pablo. Can we have a moment of silence for the great Norman Granz?
Great music on Pablo, pity their covers are rather dull but of course you don't play the covers and it may be part of the reason you can pick them up cheap
I agree 💯...they could have done a much better job with the cover art.
