  • The MacLeods have a justifiable pride in their musical traditions. Our early Chiefs kept musicians as part of their households and the role of music remains prominent in the Clan today. Therefore Associated Clan MacLeod Societies are proud to present MacLeod Music, the second in a series produced by Peter and Wendy Macleod in 2019, originally sold in DVD format and now presented as free to view.
The core of this video is a presentation of some of the most important music from the MacLeod lands at the Clan MacLeod Auckland Gathering in New Zealand in November 2013. The musicians performing were led by Rona and Jeremy Cooper and Glenice McLeod Saunders. Each song or tune has been written by a MacLeod, about a MacLeod or about MacLeod lands. Three pieces follow with a segment on the bagpipes. One, the Green Hills of Tyrone, is on bagpipes alone. The original DVD cover with a listing of the eleven MacLeod tunes can be found here: clanmacleod.or...
As on Tales and Legends of Skye, each tune is given its origin and context and prefaced by beautiful images of Skye and the Hebrides, locating the song to the earth and events long past from which its inspiration sprang.
