36:36 if you talk to them there is a line of dialog that tells you their backstory, one of the ghouls for exemple used to be a guard, another was a farmer and so on.
When they say "the man of the prophecies" they mean Legarde, who's the father of the little girl. And her mother is indeed Nilvan, who came up with a plan to create a new god which was similar in power and scope as the Old Gods, whose power still stands unrivaled even if they are mere fragments now (think how Gro-goroth burns Nas'rah to a crisp outside of battle). The plan worked up to the point of Nilvan giving birth to a child with the Ancient Soul (after getting herself pregnant by Legarde), because said soul could absorb the power of the God of the Depths located in the lower deepest level of the dungeons of Fear and Hunger. But she still needed someone to physically bring the girl there, and that's the job of the player (canonically it´s Cahara that brings the little girl to the depths and allows her to ascend to godhood. Poor Cahara). A bit confusing to put together since the info are delivered in small bits and pieces!
Makes sense. It does seem like the Old Gods are very powerful I see, I guess that's why Grogoroth is there, to stop the girl in the level 9 Gauntlet and stop Nilvan's plan. Poor Cahara, just wanted to make some cash for his family
@@Dintak3 Yeah the Old Gods are extremely powerful, are older than mankind and they basically embody concepts. Like Sylvain is nature and life, and Gro-goroth is death and destruction. While the New Gods can be killed by mortal men (such as the player who's basically a rando) and can't influence humans as much as the Old Gods used to. Which is what Nilvan was trying to do by going to Ma'habre and becoming a New God (usher a New Age for mankind), but then she realized her reign as a New God was going to end and she didn't manage to do anything significant, and therefore came up with the plan to make her child into a new "old" god. It's very sad for Cahara indeed. I understand why the god of fear and hunger didn't let him leave, basically after the horror he witnessed in the dungeons he would have gone mad (it's what happens in any ending in which the player leaves the dungeos without ascending), and so a painless death was the merciful option at that point. But it's still tragic! (I hope you don't mind the lore-spam)
@@skycendre257 Wow, seems like Nilvan really thought ahead about influencing the world after her reign was going to end. None of the other new gods thought that far I think Agreed, very sad. I'd think since God of Fear and Hunger has powerful abilities, maybe they could've 'purged' Cahara of his madness, but maybe such a power doesn't exist No worries about the lore spam
@@Dintak3 Yeah I think Nilvan was actually motivated by something more than personal gain, she had a vision and decided to pursue it even when the original plan failed. Whereas Valteil wanted knowledge, Francois wanted power over others and Chambara (Tormented One) a bit of both. I mean, I don't think Nilvain has any personal benefit from her child being the god of fear and hunger, since it's not like she cares about her mother (or father or anyone else personally). Maybe she could have cured Cahara, who knows. I guess if such a power exists she was either unable or unwilling to use it.
@@skycendre257 That makes sense, the other gods wanted gain for themselves, Nilvan didn't seem like she had much to gain, and was more concerned about other people True, seems like she wasn't able to use it
There are multiple generations of new gods. I don't know anymore if i learned that in game or if I found that in a wiki xD These are all the retired new gods not the current fellowship of four
Agreed, I imagine some people tried to enter a valid concept like "moon", recieved a "we don't understand the question" and assume that concept can't be asked and never got the lore

That's neat that each ghoul has lore on it's past life

Ah I see, so there's a whole bunch of them in that room, I assumed it was just the 4 since that was all I could see haha
Some of the questions are in the second game you will khow soon
Did you ask le'garde
Makes sense
I forgot about Legard, oh no
Can't blame you most of the time people forgot about le'garde after found him dead in his cell for first time
nice
Thank you!
