    Isner's backhand picked up out of nowhere in that match. He hit some bullet-like backhands in the second set, which he is not really known for. Good stuff from the big man!

    I was at this game, and the sportsmanship between these two is amazing. They are two really talented tennis players, and Nakashima has much more trophies to come. Congratulations to John Isner.

  • @HeavyTopspin
    @HeavyTopspin 3 года назад +149

    Definitely adding Nakashima to my list of players to watch. He's still got a ways to go, but showing this much potential at 19 he, along with Korda, could have a legitimate chance of breaking into the top tier if his game continues to progress. Hopefully he can manage to get over that hump in a way that Fritz and Tiafoe haven't been able to, because tennis (at least to US fans) becomes a lot more exciting when there's one or more US players with a legitimate shot to win the big tournaments.

    • @ryansodhi1815
      @ryansodhi1815 3 года назад +11

      His temperament definitely looks better compared to fritz, tiafoe
      Maybe it's in his genes, but surely will see a lot of him in the future

    • @caliscribe2120

    • @franciscoanguiano9838
      @franciscoanguiano9838 3 года назад +5

      Agreed. Fritz, Tiafoe, Opelka, Paul are all extremely talented but unfortunately complacent. None of them have any fire and drive to compete against the top players on the biggest stages the same way Isner or Roddick did. That’s why Korda and Nak are very promising because aside from the great tennis they seem more driven to win

    • @HeavyTopspin
      @HeavyTopspin 3 года назад

      @@caliscribe2120 That's sort of like saying Serbia's men as a group have been the best in the world... but yes, I was referring to the men. And that proves my point, because I'm willing to bet that more Americans know who Serena is than Djokovic. Any truly international sports, having an American (especially a charismatic one) at or near the top drives interest and actually gets the sport mentioned through constant barrage of NBA and NFL garbage.

    Nakashima has a very solid game. Strong off both wings on the baseline which frustrates his opponents since they don’t know which side to target. Has a solid serve, return, increasing confidence with each win, and plays with good tactics. Movement can be worked on but with an optimum height at 6’1 and still growing, this kid has a lot of potential.
