I feel bad for Mahut, he was absolutely exhausted after the match, fell into a kind of depression. He only mentioned this years later too. Poor guy.

Kudos to Mahut who had to serve 68 times to stay in the match in the fifth set... If he had been serving first in the last set, I wonder how far Isner would have gone under similar pressure. There were 2 winners in this match, the two players who wrote a legendary piece of tennis History.

Not so unreal that Nico was unable to break Isner's but kudos to Mahut for hanging with him for so long, despite that utterly demoralising position. Was so sorry he didnt come out the winner.

Took 138 games for one player to actually show as short as any rally was in this match he could actually string a few past his opponent to break serve. And Isner once pointed out he would like to be remembered as an all-rounder. No sir. Not after this performance. Really a tragedy for tennis.

Yeah players shouldn't be "rewarded" with a tie-break if they aren't good enough to break the other players serve. i get that it kinda ruined the 2018 final because anderson was too tired but its his own fault for not being good enough to break isners serve in the 5th or just beat him before it got to 5 sets.

The only players that were constantly involved in these types of matches were Isner and Karlovic. When these long advantage set matches featured anybody else, it was a treat to watch. This whole tiebreak stuff was an overreaction to Isner playing the longest Wimbledon SF ever because he can't break serve. Nobody complained when Kevin Anderson and Roger Federer went 13-11 in the fifth in the QF. Nobody complained when Rafa played Gilles Müller, and they went 15-13 in the fifth. It was only because of Isner, again, playing a long match with his poor return game and unbreakable serve.
