Yep, though there are some things the instrument needs to have to even be playable and allow more advanced techniques but for the most part those things can be fixed if need be.
This very violin on the video is being sold without the extra strings, shoulder rest and chromatic tuner. Check the comments on the website Fiddlerman linked on the description. The rest is still untouched, as for now (september, 2016). I've made a long comment there sharing my research and opinions, if anyone cares to read.
The violin is still there it's more than $99 but it still has extra strings two Bows extra Bridge rosin the tuner chin rest and it's all good I do order from fiddlerman from time to time I do have the fiddlerman bow but I'm pretty sure it's good to learn how to work on your own violin and so this company is good for that plus they're sort of the MCDONALD'S of VIOLINS. if something goes wrong they just replace it kind of like when you get that double cheeseburger with mustard you didn't order. they throw it in the trash and make you another one.!!. 🤣❤️🎄🎁🎄🎅🎅🎅❤️🤣
John Cena? I guess I wouldn't mind having his muscles. :) Never heard that one before. I've been told Mel Gibson many times. Even live. Personally I don't see it but I don't mind either.
I play the violin, and it surprises me that those violins are so good and sooooo cheap (well not the Best violins but eh) (I'm in philharmonic orch btw ;)) and his vibrato Scared me because it was so good 😂
I'm a guitar player, not a violinist. Why am I watching this? :D Anyway, great video. Any effort made to educate and help out beginners is a noble cause :)
+Rachel Woodruff Thanks for bringing that up Rachel. LOL, Apparently dressing like I'm going through a mid-life crises. ROFL. It's the way I dress!!!!! It's comfortable. Has nothing to do with age......
Hell I just clicked his video on accident, I have no interested in playing a fiddle, even though I am from Kentucky..lol but hell I want that Violin now..lol enjoyed the video.
I just noticed that Violin is Black...soooo does this make it a $99.00 TACTICAL VIOLIN!!!!!!!!!! Holy Shit now I have to have this Tactical Fiddle..lol don' tell the liberals they will want to ban it. HAHA!
protip!!! i don't know if this messes anything up but when i have new rosin i tap the surface of the rosin with the tightening knob on the back of the boe so that the rosin is easier to get onto the boe
I always was taught to initially scratch the surface with a pair of scissor and I always keep a small piece of medium fine sandpaper with all of my cakes.
Boy, this guy sure doesn't look like what I envisioned an accomplished fiddle player to look like. Thumbs up, Fiddlerman. Thanks for the low down. I drive an 18 wheeler LA-NY every week. I can't wait to see the greasy stares when I start sawing on my new violin in the truck stop parking lot
That was really beautiful. I just got my 10 year old a violin from Amazon and it didn't come with everything yours did, but it was only $85 with free shipping. I look forward to the day I can buy him a $4000 violin from Germany!
If my son practices and masters his playing to the level this guy has, then I would want him to have quality instruments. A $4000 violin is hand-crafted by masters of their art, and I believe that art is worth the money. Why does anyone "need" anything other than food, water, and shelter? We need art and music to bring joy to our lives. Can you make a violin that would even be playable, let alone produce the beautiful music this one does? I know I can't.
given time and patience, yes, anyone could build one that is as playable as these. having been doing this a long time now, and as this video can attest, it is in the player ability, not the price tag of the instrument. we see this alot at local music shops, if someone is bound and determined to have a Big price tag, we tell them to buy a $1000 piece, and donate the remaining $ to charity or homeless, to people that need it.. that being said, I can appreciate your wanting the best for your budding musician.
Sarah Allen Lol...me too, but my 4 year old wants a Violin she has no intentions of ever playing piano, I bought her a little red child piano, she hates it... She wants a violin... She told me it too heavy to carry the piano...😂😂😂😂😣
At least you have something in common :D I had trouble in middle school and almost failed to play a simple song o na Melodica(for 9 months). Since then I've never tried any musical instrument. But I love it when somebody who is good at it plays any instrument. BTW when I was 14 and trying to do stuff with a melodica and failing there was 2, 7 year olds who played violin in sync. If you are one of those kids and reading this. FUCK YOU
The problem is - if you put someone who's exceptional on even the most basic of instruments, they have the technical ability to make it sound good, that's not to say a beginner can't be on the road to becoming good but I think that it's important to distinguish the both.
A week ago I'd just be thinking "well yeah, this is great playing." Then I decided I want to try violin after half a lifetime of guitar (haven't got one yet), and now I'm looking for it this virtuosity leaves me completely floored. Niiiiiccce
+DaveDexterMusic I just got another one here at Fiddlershop (we generally dropship them) and it sounds quite nice. For this price, it's hard to go wrong.
Fiddlerman Yeah. It's on the list. Will probably try a fret applique or even, at that price, add actual frets myself (I can only apologise). I'd lose some of the violin-ness but it's the beautiful bowed sustain I'm after to start with.
+DaveDexterMusic Join Fiddlerman.com/forum and you'll find an instructional video for just that. :) Building them in. He shows exactly what he did step by step but check out some of the pictures on this particular post part of the forum thread: fiddlerman.com/forum/fiddle-violin-repair-making-and-set-up/frets-for-your-violin/page-2/#p75538
Fiddlerman Awesome, that's a great resource! So you have to play on the frets, not behind them as I'd expected (and as I'm used to)? Obviously that's better in the long run, but I'd hoped for some level of not struggling with intonation from the start. Thanks for advice btw.
This is absolutely amazing honestly. The violin doesn't sound poorly made, nor does it look it. It produces a crisp and clear sound. a Little bit of setup work sees required based on his comments about the bridge and post positions but those are easy enough to re position. All in all this seems like money well spent. I happen to be an aspiring luthier, so I'm looking for a cheap yet decent violin to disassemble for templates and a general idea of how the pieces are carved cut and put together. I think I just found my winner. Excellent review sir. Thank you very much.
Christopher Yurkanin It's guaranteed not the same violin. We buy many hundreds of these violins directly from Cecilio and pay way more than $67. The violin that you are referring to is a Mendini by Cecilio. They look the same and also distributed by Cecilio. I am not condemning that violin but we tested many cheap violins and decided not to sell this one. Sometimes the trouble you get with a very cheap violin is not worth the money you save, not to mention the bad sound, hard to tune, and sometimes very heavy instrument.
Fiddlerman I have to say, Fiddlerman, I'm truly impressed with you and your channel. Your videos are very engaging and I really appreciate the response and the quickness of it. My 8 yr old daughter has been taking lessons at school using a school-issued violin and I've been considering buying one of her own for her since she seems to show some aptitude with it. I wonder if you might tell me what it is about that $67 model that you have the reservations about. It will likely not be used for more than a year considering that she'll probably be moving up to a different size as she grows and progresses. I'm also considering taking it up myself so will probably have a few more questions for you as I explore your channel. Thanks a lot for the reply.
Christopher Yurkanin Looking forward to @fiddlerman's reply. But in the mean time, i'm in the same position as you Chris. Would you mind posting the link for the ebay cecilio?
Christopher Yurkanin Fractional sizes are different. They usually sound like toys anyway because of their sound. I don't blame you for saving money, Our experience on the even cheaper models such as the Mendini's is that they are super hard to tune. The peg holes are not well reamed and special care has not been taken in the set up. The strings can be unevenly set from each other, the bridge can be non fitting, leaning forward at the feet....The fine tuners don't last.... The list goes on but the important thing is that you, your daughter and her teacher is content. Make sure you have a good return policy from the buyer. :)
This video is what inspired me to finally get a violin. I can say without a doubt that this violin is lovely. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's absolutely worth more than the price. I'm baffled that it's not ATLEAST $200, and I've been playing on it for 3 years now. It's my old faithful and I wouldn't get rid of it for the world. Please, if you're just starting out and can't decide on a violin, I highly recommend this one.
TheStrivingHero Thanks for the recommendation. I had doubt before, but I always wanted to learn violin that comes with black-white colour. So, I decided to buy this 2 weeks ago
I don't play violin, but I will now since this video inspired me to buy a 60.00 violin off eBay. Let's see what happens. Also, your playing was awesome.
I honestly don't understand where you're coming from with that. Because a crappy violinist can make the worlds best violin sound really bad. So what's your point?
I felt like crying during this video. I'm very poor and can't even buy as much food for myself as I buy for my cat. I received a $110 gift card for Amazon and seeing this video gives me hope that I can one day fulfill my lifelong dream of playing violin as well as this guy. I was scared to buy it because I've heard from pros that anything under $500 is complete garbage but this video proved them wrong. I'm buying the thing right now.
+Soulariax Yeah. For pro's, anything under $500 isn't recommended for performances but for a beginner, it's completely acceptable. Here in Japan there are amazing sounding violins for only 11300 yen! (about $130 aud). I doubt it's much different in western countries.
+Soulariax It's definitely good enough to learn on. I recommend you get one that is varnished rather than painted like the CVN300 though. Better sound with those.
+Fiddlerman Already ordered the "Cecilio 4/4 CVNAE-White+SR Ebony Fitted Acoustic/Electric Violin in Pearl White" for $110 Edit: Never mind, I took your advice. I cancelled the order and instead ordered the "Cecilio 4/4 CVNAE-330+SR Ebony Fitted Acoustic/Electric Violin in Antique Varnish" which was on the same page, just as another color option. I didn't know about the varnish thing, thanks. Edit again: I'm so sorry I wasn't able to buy it from you. If I had the $110 for your website or just cash, I would have been delighted to give you my money instead. Thanks again for the advice and this video.
Katie Wigglesworth Definitely. :) I've had a piano my whole life and I've always been consistent with practice so I'm sure I'll be playing the violin even more since it's my favorite instrument.
Interesting video. A few years ago, I wanted to learn a string instrument (I'm primarily a woodwind guy. I play bassoon), so I decided to go for cello, and looked around for exactly the type of "cheap but not too bad" instrument that Fiddlerman auditions in this video. After checking different web sites, I picked up a $300 cello from Cecilio. And since at the time, they were running a special, in addition to the cello (with case, bow, extra strings, rosin, and bridge), they threw in a violin FOR FREE!! And the violin looked exactly like the one in the video, even to the case, two bows, rosin, extra bridge and strings. I can't truthfully say I have spent much time with either the cello or violin (a few years ago I got intrested in viola da gamba), but I did have some of my friends in the orchestra I play in check them, and they thought they were both good beginning instruments.
I love how impressed you are given the price compared to a lot of other reviews of cheap violins where they just criticize the cheap violin nonstop. I mean what did these other people EXPECT?!
Everything is relative right? Yes I was impressed for the cost for sure. I've learned a lot since that time. Also, not all of these are created equal, but it's hard to go wrong as long as it's playable.
But really the sound in the end depends on the player's skills with violin, if you are amazing at violin then it would sound great, but if you are starting, it may not sound as good at the start, but if you practice long enough then it will sound great in some time.
I have zero chance of ever buying a violin, let alone trying to learn one...I'm not even sure how I got to this video, or why I'm here...but still I'm glad I'm here haha >.
I don't know anything about violin. I am not looking to buy a violin. I randomly found your video but couldn't turn it off. Very well done, very entertaining. I love your enthusiasm
Our teacher always taught us to scratch up the surface of our rosin to get it started. Continuously rubbing it seems like it'll take forever to work it's way down
The arm under does two things. First it brings the fingers closer to the strings and secondly, allows me the freedom to travel way up high on the violin without much movement from my left elbow. I've been playing since 12 so the arm way under doesn't phase me physically. I suppose a beginner should be cautious. One should not have tension when playing.
+Fiddlerman I learned something from you today. I started accordion at age 9 and developed huge, strong hands. I don't regret it. Opening jars is easy!
This is meant for new musicians or non-musician so it is a video that would appeal to many people. I suspect that it is sponsored by RUclips and that is why its popping up in recommended videos. I too have little interest in violins but it was recommended and I found it interesting. In the end you clicked on the link and at least viewed it long enough to comment so was it really a bad recommendation.
This is the video that got me wondering if buying a violin is safe online. I ordered my first violin from Pierre Holstein (Fiddlerman). It was the Cecilio cvn 600. It was an excellent starter and well worth the price. Later I bought the Fiddlerman Master violin which is a fantastic violin and also set up and inspected by Pierre. Do not be concerned about buying your first violin from this company . They are incredibly concerned about pleasing the customer. After buying the first violin, I had no concern about paying over $700 for a violin and worry about it arriving safely and ready to play. It is now 2019 and I'll be buying another violin from Fiddlerman. Pierre and his son Michael are the epitome of customer service. BTW, Pierre and Michael, it's Keith, fiddlefaddle is my new handle. Pretty slick, eh?
u c, when I got my first violin, it was a whole different story. So, first off, I realized that when I wanted to put the rosin on the bow, the rosin apparently cracked and the pecies fell all over my case. And then when I finished rosining my bow with broken rosin, and went to tune my violin strings, I kid u not, when I was tuning them, one of the strings broke right then and there, and I was like, "HOW!?" I literally only slightly tuned one of the strings, SLIGHTLY, and it still snapped, but that still did not stop me from playing my violin, so, when I went to go put it on me, I couldn't place it right on my shoulder? I was like, "hmm, this doesn't feel right" because u r supposed to have your hands free when playing the violin. Soooooo, I played anyway, and I sounded awful!! it did not sound like a violin at all! it had this horrible screeching noise that I couldn't understand how I'm supposed to even make music out of this! and so, I FREAKING CRIED!!! I was so upset at all of the misfortune that I endured that I just wanted to return the violin and just b done with that terrible garbage! MY GOODNESS I HAD A LOT 2 SAY! but, I guess the morale of this comment is that, get something that feels right 2 u, and not something that doesn't feel right, because it will make ur life a whole lot easier! (btw, the violin is just not my type of instrument, I only say that it's garbage because it's so hard 4 me 2 make music out of it!)
Nice story. Sorry it didn't work out for you. You probably would have had more success if you had someone just show you the basics of setting up and getting started.
Are you sure you didn't have your strings tuned an octave lower? This kind of sounds like what you are describing and yes, if you do that it is a nightmare to play.
+Fiddlerman Question for you, I was reading the reviews from other people on the site. They say that since this video (In 2011) The quality may have gone down. Any suggestions / advice? I am a 22-year-old disabled college student. So money is, as you can imagine, rather tight. This year I decided I will stop saying I want to learn, and just get into it, however, is this something I should just not get into because of costs associated? Thank you for the video, and help, you are a truly amazing violinist.
+Dustin “Nareve1993” Green You could get a used one. It would be even cheaper, and you could eliminate the risk of the quality going down since 2011. hope you like the violin. Too bad, my own disability (pinched nerve) made me have to make a hard choice and give it up. I better save that hand to do all the art and composing I still need to do, even though I would love to be noodling around on the violin just for fun.
+Dustin “Nareve1993” Green It's hard for me to recommend people at this price. I think it's a great deal but $100 is not a lot of money. One can't expect all that much. Very much the luck of the draw. I've seen a few recently and they are fine. Some adjustments are needed and the strings are cheap.
Fiddlerman For someone that is new to Violin, are the adjustments able to be done? If I were to use a guide, do you feel I could make them? Sorry for the questions, I like to know what I am getting in to prior to making a commitment such as this. Thank you again!
+Dustin “Nareve1993” Green If you are handy and careful you can do them. Most likely you'll need to cut down the bridge somewhat. They tend to be too high. You'll need to change strings eventually but you can start with the strings that come with it. Here is a guide for cutting a new bridge but you wouldn't need to do all that, just make sure the feet fit properly with the bridge leaning slightly back, bring down the height and set the notches with the proper spacing. fiddlerman.com/2011/11/install-a-new-bridge-on-a-violin-by-kevin-m-healy/ The sound post is a bit trickier and I would wait with touching that.
yeah ... you got a way better deal then me ... I got the violin one set of extra strings , one bow , one little thing of rosen , the case , the "owner's information" sheet , an extra bridge too. My case has straps already on the back yet , mine costed more.
Yes, I got it from KK. Made the video in 2011. Today I own a stringed instrument shop called Fiddlershop. See the link under the video. :) For lessons, visit Fiddlerman.com
what am I doing here I don't even play violin

same thought😂
Same :D
I got scared fuk
me too! it was scary low key
same here mate was like oww shit what happened
Any violin sounds pretty good in the hands of someone who knows how to play it :) I use some sandpaper on new rosin to break through that surface.
Or use the bottom of the bow the steel screw.
Sandra T. Yeah, that would work to.
AstronomyGuru84 I agree... I've bought from these same people for my nephew. Sounded like "you know what". But when I played it resembled this man. So as long as you have experience it will sound ok.
You know what you are talking about pal. Thats right
@stinkyuser dude you legit make me thing there was a fly on my screen XDXD
Why am I watching this? I don't even know how to play an instrument or anything about music.
+wakaka2waka At that price point maybe it's time to change that ;)
+wakaka2waka I've been clicking on random videos for hours... At the end of this video now, I can't tell you why I watched it
+xShr00msx try learning! :D
+wakaka2waka.....hahaha me too. I play the saxophone but I watched all the way through.
+SpeedyNeutrino172 GASP* I PLAY SAX TOO!! WHAT SAX DO YOU PLAY??
moral of the story, spend your cash on lessons!
truth
YES
When you get really good look for a better violin in your price range.

Talal Merhi my first one was $99 but my current one is $4k XD my parents were like *dead*

Wow I Jumped even though I was expecting it.
I did too
Yes!!
kellie wright yea same
For a second I thought this guy was just going to do a few chords and say "this violin is good enough", or or that he'd not even do that and trash it for its price, but not only does it sound good, he's a freaking beast with it as well...
Thanks :)
Bloody hell! I'm surprised they didn't include a 100 dollar bill inside the case.
LOL, they might as well right?
Miguel d'Oliveira 😂
Wdym?
@@tasnimtabassum785 like you're getting it for free.
Opposite of the used car salesman who SHOULD include the price you paid (and leave it in the glove compartment) to make it worth you taking the car off his hands.
WOW an extra everything
Maybe they were expecting things to...break?
maybe
Violins break pretty easily in my experience.
oh no! the extra violin is missing!
LOL
too bad man I bought this product, then I spent at least five days trying to tune it, after I tuned it I hire a true virtuoso to teach me the ways of the fiddle. then after twenty years of training I picked up my 20 dollar violin and grabbed my bow and the instant my bow touched the string my entire violin turned into a pile of ashes along with one of every thing else it came with. luckily I still have two of everything else

I dont know how I got here and i most likely wont ever touch a violin, but now i want one.
Why not. If nothing else, nice artwork to hang on the wall. ;)
+Fiddlerman good point :) my problem is they type of work I do and previous injuries to my hands would probably stop me having the dexterity to play an instrument any more I used to play the trombone but had to give it up :/ would love to get back into instruments sometime in the future though :)
Save your money then. :) Thanks for watching.
no problem it was a very good review :)
I was thinking the same thing! I've never watched a violin review in my life and here I am wanting to buy one.
yea so its 3am and somehow im here
Lmao me right now
+Herzy VFX me too lol
+DeBLueLion Somehow 3 am seems to be the fiddler time.

+Abdul Basit 6 am, considering sleep, almost entered to win the violin before i realized i am an idiot who doesn't play violin
This guy could make an old tea chest sound like a Stradivarius lol
LOL - I don't think so. But thanks!
Amen to that, Redkatt.
I was expecting them to play you like a damn fiddle.
When I started learning the violin, I got this really cheap violin to start off with, and on my hands as a beginner it sounded horrible... I thought that it was because the violin is cheap anyway... but when my teacher took it and played "Ave Maria" on it I was utterly gobsmacked at how beautiful she made it sound... lol

+ricaard that is the best thing ever time say right now, lol! It has the meaning as the violin bow too XD
Same, lol.
I got mine for 35 dollars on eBay and the better i got the better it started sounding.
ikr

I don't remember how I got here but now I want a violin.

Nah. I came from voat.
I was watching samurai sword fighting... now I am here and I want a viola!!
That is the important thing. LOL
You can use the viola as a sword as well. LOL
I'm a marching snare player and for some reason I landed on this video 😂 But damn this violin definitely blew my expectations
Shit am I about to buy a fiddle now?
Perhaps
+oishisakana Sounds like fun :)
+oishisakana Why not :) If nothing else, you can hang it on the wall for decoration. ;)
6:49 That sudden transition made me think you had broken the violin by trying to tune it! Scary!
the first transition also scared the bejesus out of me...
Sorry :(
sartoriusrock Me too for a sec! Ha ha
i have no idea why i'm here but i like it.
Cool man!!!
+Fiddlerman where did you buy it from and is the shipping international.
+Fiddlerman oh wait i just read the description nvm , but it the free shipping only in america !!
oh damn 79$ for shipping wow that's a lot
It's probably not worth it if you live outside of the US.
There are quite a few shops selling the same thing. Where are you located?
who thought that the string snapped out at 6:49😂😂😂😂
Daniela Endong I'm cringing at everything waiting for it to happen ahhhhhh
Not I. But apparently you guys. :)
Daniela Endong I thought I was the only one
I don't even play violin but watching this guy play sends shivers down my spine

Are you trying to say only people who play violin get shivers when listening to violin?
6:50 that scared me
Me too!
I thought he snapped a string!
Rootbeer Winter as well !

Lapis Lazuli was a good day
This very violin on the video is being sold without the extra strings, shoulder rest and chromatic tuner. Check the comments on the website Fiddlerman linked on the description. The rest is still untouched, as for now (september, 2016).
I've made a long comment there sharing my research and opinions, if anyone cares to read.
The violin is still there it's more than $99 but it still has extra strings two Bows extra Bridge rosin the tuner chin rest and it's all good
I do order from fiddlerman from time to time I do have the fiddlerman bow but I'm pretty sure it's good to learn how to work on your own violin and so this company is good for that plus they're sort of the MCDONALD'S of VIOLINS.
if something goes wrong they just replace it kind of like when you get that double cheeseburger with mustard you didn't order.
they throw it in the trash and make you another one.!!.
🤣❤️🎄🎁🎄🎅🎅🎅❤️🤣
I didn't know John Cena played violin
Lmao not even
I'm dying 😂😂
You go it wrong. That's Mel Gibson
John Cena? I guess I wouldn't mind having his muscles. :)
Never heard that one before. I've been told Mel Gibson many times. Even live. Personally I don't see it but I don't mind either.
I play bass, why am I watching this? lol
Im in the same exact situation 😂😂
Me too!😂😂😂
Cherry Tree
I play viola
i play drum and this guy shows off more then an average drummer
I play the violin, and it surprises me that those violins are so good and sooooo cheap (well not the Best violins but eh) (I'm in philharmonic orch btw ;)) and his vibrato Scared me because it was so good 😂
Thanks Angel.
Angel A I get you 😂
Angel A the vibrato was scary and so good but it kinda looked like he was almost using to much😂 no hate
I'm a guitar player, not a violinist. Why am I watching this? :D
Anyway, great video. Any effort made to educate and help out beginners is a noble cause :)
+MrCorvusC Thanks :)
+MrCorvusC LOL, I'm a drummer and this popped up in my feed and I watched til the end. Was curious to see what was in store. Great video!
+MrCorvusC Saaaame, but after this video, maybe I'll try out a violin! Always wanted to
i play saxophone but heyx this is great
+geeklette99 YAAAAA, join the club!!!
He made that sound good. I'd probably bid a thousand for that violin after hearing him play it.
But none of us will ever be able to play at that caliber
There is a saying about that
Willie Isn't that the point though? To show the quality of a cheap bow with an experienced player?
Willie So that inexperienced players can get a decent violin for experienced violinists at a cheap price?
Willie also I meant cheap violin not cheap bow.
I just came here from the 45 million violin video loool
he plays the violin so fast, i thought the video was fast forward lol
Ikr I can't even play that fast xD
That's because he did vibrato.
+Rootbeer “A&W” Winter Thats not why it sounds fast. He actually plays fast.
Tbh he wasn't even playing that fast... slurs probably add the effect/illusion of it though.
Retitle the video: How to install batteries in a chromatic tuner.
I play cello- my C string is more than that violin.....
John Mirsky same!!
John Mirsky my viola strings were about sixty a piece
My violin was about the same price but it's only 1/2 size. It also came with the rosin, bow, and an extra set of strings.
amazinglyanna4 usually 1/2 - 3/4 costs $810 so probably your violin brand manufacturer is probably on budget cuts. Ps im 1/2 to lol
I don't even play Violin... why am I watching this!?
+Charles Wagner Question is, why not. LOL
Thanks for watching.
Lol, I watch one video of Lindsey Stirling and this video appears on my home page.
This guy dresses like a dude in his mid life crisis and has a very Forceful style but damn he is good.
what? what's wrong with his clothes?
+Rachel Woodruff Thanks for bringing that up Rachel.
LOL, Apparently dressing like I'm going through a mid-life crises. ROFL.
It's the way I dress!!!!! It's comfortable. Has nothing to do with age......
Literally searched "Do humans eat their embryonic sac" This video came up and I watched the whole thing. I don't even play any instruments.
Hell I just clicked his video on accident, I have no interested in playing a fiddle, even though I am from Kentucky..lol but hell I want that Violin now..lol enjoyed the video.
That is saying something. LOL Thanks!
Now I want this 99$ Violin and an irish 99$-Dwarf with green hat and stuff, who can play it.
Randonneur80
LOL
I just noticed that Violin is Black...soooo does this make it a $99.00 TACTICAL VIOLIN!!!!!!!!!! Holy Shit now I have to have this Tactical Fiddle..lol don' tell the liberals they will want to ban it. HAHA!
My Damn Channel
LOL
Why am i watching the whole damn video?
you're Dr.phil you tell us
To see how crazy I really am. ;)
I didn't notice how long the video was till it was over.
protip!!! i don't know if this messes anything up but when i have new rosin i tap the surface of the rosin with the tightening knob on the back of the boe so that the rosin is easier to get onto the boe
Simon Thena it's spelled bow and i don't think that messes anything up
:)
Scratching the surface is a good way to speed up the break in process of the brand new shiny rosin.
I always was taught to initially scratch the surface with a pair of scissor and I always keep a small piece of medium fine sandpaper with all of my cakes.
Simon Thena I do that to
Boy, this guy sure doesn't look like what I envisioned an accomplished fiddle player to look like. Thumbs up, Fiddlerman. Thanks for the low down. I drive an 18 wheeler LA-NY every week. I can't wait to see the greasy stares when I start sawing on my new violin in the truck stop parking lot
Watch out, Stradivari!
*Sees guy play violin* *nervously scoffs* "Cello master race" I say weakly, impressed by the man's high level of skill
LOL :)
That was really beautiful. I just got my 10 year old a violin from Amazon and it didn't come with everything yours did, but it was only $85 with free shipping. I look forward to the day I can buy him a $4000 violin from Germany!
Cassandra Miller awee
Cassandra Miller
why in the world would anyone need a 4000 dollar violin? if I'm missing something, please enlighten me
If my son practices and masters his playing to the level this guy has, then I would want him to have quality instruments.
Cassandra Miller ah Germany heard they make good violins there ^^ haha n bisschen die eigene Wirtschaft unterstützen :)
I play piano but this is still really interesting to me haha
Sarah Allen Lol...me too, but my 4 year old wants a Violin she has no intentions of ever playing piano, I bought her a little red child piano, she hates it... She wants a violin... She told me it too heavy to carry the piano...😂😂😂😂😣
Sarah Allen violin is in treble clef, so if you decide to try violin, reading the music won't be hard.
Sarah Allen me too,
At least you have something in common :D
I had trouble in middle school and almost failed to play a simple song o na Melodica(for 9 months). Since then I've never tried any musical instrument. But I love it when somebody who is good at it plays any instrument.
BTW when I was 14 and trying to do stuff with a melodica and failing there was 2, 7 year olds who played violin in sync. If you are one of those kids and reading this. FUCK YOU
Okan Güven lol
The problem is - if you put someone who's exceptional on even the most basic of instruments, they have the technical ability to make it sound good, that's not to say a beginner can't be on the road to becoming good but I think that it's important to distinguish the both.
Yeah... theres a video somewhere on RUclips where zakk wylde is playing on a Wal-Mart hello kitty guitar and it actually sounds o.k.
It's true that a better instrument makes it easier for a beginner to learn the instrument as well.
I play trombone why did i watch this...
Because deep down inside, you want to play the fiddle. LOL
Tsukuyomi Phase same😂😂😂
Deep, deep down, everyone wants to play the fiddle, and have a Ducati...
Because, Violins can be Trombones too
I play trombone, violin, & piano~
A week ago I'd just be thinking "well yeah, this is great playing." Then I decided I want to try violin after half a lifetime of guitar (haven't got one yet), and now I'm looking for it this virtuosity leaves me completely floored. Niiiiiccce
+DaveDexterMusic I just got another one here at Fiddlershop (we generally dropship them) and it sounds quite nice. For this price, it's hard to go wrong.
Fiddlerman
Yeah.
Fiddlerman
Awesome, that's a great resource! So you have to play on the frets, not behind them as I'd expected (and as I'm used to)? Obviously that's better in the long run, but I'd hoped for some level of not struggling with intonation from the start. Thanks for advice btw.
+DaveDexterMusic Actually, I did not realize that. I thought it would have been similar to guitar.
:) Thanks for your comments.
Just happened upon your channel, a company on ebay offering this same deal now for $67. Pretty incredible how accessible music is these days.
concreteroze It won't let me post a link here, just put violins in the ebay search and it comes up rather quickly for $66.99
This video is what inspired me to finally get a violin.
Are you still happy with it?
I don't play violin, but I will now since this video inspired me to buy a 60.00 violin off eBay. Let's see what happens. Also, your playing was awesome.
I also subscribed to your channel. So I can learn how to play.
I can't vouch for what you bought but I wish you luck. :)
+Fiddlerman I'll let you know if it's a good deal or not. Thanks for all your videos.
Thanks, register on my forum as well for motivation and lot's of friends.
Any time!
Man, awesome chops! For almost every instrument, tone largely comes from your technique. This video is proof!
You... you didn't finish the... the Chardash... now I'll have to get home and play those last four bars.
IKR. SAME GAME
Also, isn't it Czardas?
+ProfessorMc12 Yes. Czardas by Monti.
Fiddlerman lol. thanks. You did an amazing job playing that infact... I wish I could play it that well on my Clarinet.
a good violinist can make the crappiest violin sound good
I don't know about that, sounds like magic. ;-)
I honestly don't understand where you're coming from with that. Because a crappy violinist can make the worlds best violin sound really bad. So what's your point?
it's not the sword that makes the warrior, its not the instrument that makes the musician.
Dante Howlstice
True
OrcaBox I think that *was* their point.
+Fiddlerman Already ordered the "Cecilio 4/4 CVNAE-White+SR Ebony Fitted Acoustic/Electric Violin in Pearl White" for $110
Edit: Never mind, I took your advice.
+Soulariax Good luck learning. Stick with it ;)
Katie Wigglesworth Definitely.
He's here to advertise himself, not the violin lol
Just goes to show. The player makes the sound not the instrument...
Mostly the instrument too. Look at Stradi Instruments.
+CrazyMushroom Which have never been proven in blind studies to sound any better then anything else.
That is only half true. If you have a shit instrument it can still sound ok but not great.
not sure how i got here but i love how he gets more and more excited
My first experience with a non expensive violin. :) Thanks
But really the sound in the end depends on the player's skills with violin, if you are amazing at violin then it would sound great, but if you are starting, it may not sound as good at the start, but if you practice long enough then it will sound great in some time.
One can hope. :)
Fiddlerman yep :)
I have zero chance of ever buying a violin, let alone trying to learn one...I'm not even sure how I got to this video, or why I'm here...but still I'm glad I'm here haha >.
Thanks
Dude, my first guitar, from Sears, cost 20$. I bet Jimmy Page could make it sound like a million bucks.
it's not about the price, skills
+Joel Peot true AF
LOL
I don't know anything about violin. I am not looking to buy a violin. I randomly found your video but couldn't turn it off. Very well done, very entertaining. I love your enthusiasm
Yeah what am I doing here to I play a cello
Same!
I play viola and bass. violin strings are so small compared to bass.
Hey dude that's a big guitar you got there
Yes it is!
The Action pack I play the flute.... I don't even know anyone who plays violin lol
Hahahaha I got a fucking jumpscare at 6:51 xDDDDDDDD
saaaammmmee
the string got broken there xD
You are not the first to say that but no, it didn't. Wouldn't be unusual for those steel core strings that come with the instrument.
why am I watching this? I have to study and I don't even play violin!
holy shit me too 😂😂
It's called procrastinating! ;) I emphasize with you!
Lol same
LOL, thanks for watching!
LOL
Our teacher always taught us to scratch up the surface of our rosin to get it started. Continuously rubbing it seems like it'll take forever to work it's way down
New rosin in combination with new hair, not a bad idea to roughen the surface of the rosin for quicker application.
"Has anybody seen the bridge? Where's that confounded bridge?" 12:10
led zep right ?
+jason jones Yup. Heh heh heh, although technically, they got it from James Brown.
LOL
The flexibilty in your left hand is amazing. It looks awkward seeing your arm bent like that.
+Fiddlerman I watched again. Now i notice how the left elbow is almost touching your body the whole time.
That is OK. ;)
Where's that confounded bridge...
;)
found it :P
Just found this video randomly, and didn't know what to expect. But dude you are crazy good!
Thanks Joe
I just got this violin (but in purple!) for 30 bucks from Goodwill, haha. I will use it until I can afford one from the Fiddlershop!
Thanks. And I look forward to us making you very happy when that time comes. 😁
That case would be almosr $99 here.
why was this recommended to me?
This is meant for new musicians or non-musician so it is a video that would appeal to many people. I suspect that it is sponsored by RUclips and that is why its popping up in recommended videos. I too have little interest in violins but it was recommended and I found it interesting. In the end you clicked on the link and at least viewed it long enough to comment so was it really a bad recommendation.
Good question. What were you watching before the recommendation?
i guess i watch alot of instrumental stuff, but mostly just bass guitar
Bass is for failed guitarists.
LOL. Don't know how I missed this post. Yes, FiddleFaddle is great!
😱wtf......................YOUR SO TALENTED!!! WHAT THE HECK!! 😱IM MIND BLOWN
Vanessa Ramirez You're*
I didn't know Mel Gibson played the violin?
Now you know ;)
why was this in my recommended videos and why does it have so many views
No one knows. LOL
when you was tuning pretty fast and then the next clip stated i thought you broke a string, it made me jump lol
Your playing is so impressiv, it gets me depressive :'D
Sorry. Didn't mean to do that. :(
Haha just jokin' ;) i love your play-style :)
Thanks :)
u c, when I got my first violin, it was a whole different story.
I still play it thou, even with the cracked rosin and broken string, but I will need like 40 years of practice in order to become at least decent
Nice story. Sorry it didn't work out for you. You probably would have had more success if you had someone just show you the basics of setting up and getting started.
We have beginning adults making nice music on our site, Fiddlerman.com/forum
Check it out!
Fiddlerman thank u 4 ur comments
Are you sure you didn't have your strings tuned an octave lower? This kind of sounds like what you are describing and yes, if you do that it is a nightmare to play.
Man you're a beast at playing
Thanks for the words and for watching.
As with many of the other commenters, I don't play violin but still clicked on this out of curiosity
Fiddlerman
For someone that is new to Violin, are the adjustments able to be done? If I were to use a guide, do you feel I could make them? Sorry for the questions, I like to know what I am getting in to prior to making a commitment such as this.
Thank you again!
+Dustin “Nareve1993” Green If you are handy and careful you can do them. Most likely you'll need to cut down the bridge somewhat. They tend to be too high. You'll need to change strings eventually but you can start with the strings that come with it. Here is a guide for cutting a new bridge but you wouldn't need to do all that, just make sure the feet fit properly with the bridge leaning slightly back, bring down the height and set the notches with the proper spacing.
fiddlerman.com/2011/11/install-a-new-bridge-on-a-violin-by-kevin-m-healy/
The sound post is a bit trickier and I would wait with touching that.
Fiddlerman
Thank you for the help! I look forward to this new part of my life! You rock!
I got all that plus an extra bridge ... it's a good investment.
Abby D didn't get a tuner though...
yeah ... you got a way better deal then me ... I got the violin one set of extra strings , one bow , one little thing of rosen , the case , the "owner's information" sheet , an extra bridge too. My case has straps already on the back yet , mine costed more.
where did he get it on Amazon Ebay or what? wish he told us because i want a violin of my own but just curios. Also HES TO GOOD TEACH US
You can probably find it on either eBay or amazon
Anime vid check his website
Right at the start of the video he said he bought it from kkmusicstore.
Yes, I got it from KK. Made the video in 2011. Today I own a stringed instrument shop called Fiddlershop. See the link under the video. :) For lessons, visit Fiddlerman.com
Fiddlerman:how can I get this?
