My lady and I rescued her fathers forgotten 261 from a barn last year where it sat 10 years as a raccoon hotel. topside is mostly gutted, the cabin and engine bay seem okay. Got the twin 350's with alpha drives or bravos? Can't wait to get it rolling
I had 3 Liberators. Too bad they are becoming scarce especially with OMC set-ups. Most Cobra outdrive parts are impossible to come by. Some parts had to be made in a shop to work.
I've been looking tonight everywhere for the same setup we had with the OMC 454 in our Liberator 221, can't find a damn thing at all!!! The person who bought our old boat, a month after he decided to drive into a rock reef. He apparently had a hell of a time finding stuff for the outdrive. Those Liberators are one hell of a boat.
If you have a Liberator, and dont have a gold hoop earring, your not doin it right. Love this boat man , I got a 89 Citation lazer with a 383 stroker in it , but really want a liberator.
I bought my Four Winds from Dan Castagna....a dealer / very close to / on the Hudson River back in 90'....thumbs up from Lake George, NY ( on the Hudson ) .....
@@MrJerryrigged1 ....I figured you have been up here before...that's why I replied to your video...that and I was a Four Winds owner for many years. I went about 70 MPH in my brother in laws Liberator ... someone stole the lower unit (Outdrive) ... now he has a twin jet Ski-Doo boat ... I like the Four Winns better
That was a really good run. Those old Libbys have always been good boats. The old Mercury motors back in the day would push them pretty good but with the newer motors and higher h.p. in smaller lighter packages no telling what they would do now. I use to love skiing behind one. They push a huge wake. I was surprised at how that big old boat moved. What is being used to push that big boat through the water?
Yup I miss my BAD TOY Liberator it was a 460 also.. i had to do prop shaft when i got it and then tried 4 differant props till i got the one that left her 200 rpm under wot trimmed out with 1 person with me and 1/2 tank of fuel and she surprised alot of people for her age.. a little heavy but that helped cut waves on ruffer days .. all in all she was a good boat
Represent good buddie im a lib guy i restored 3 done right they are nasty ironed watching you spank that baja i spanked a checkmate my self on CT River funny thing is when. Ya have a lib everyone wants to race it I've turned down many people from racing cuz I've blown a expensive built motor before but there are those moments when ya have to just put some one in there place I was wondering 21 pitch man I live stiletto stainless props mirage is nice to anyhow im getting the itch again sold my last lib to use money for dow. Payment on house In Florida now I live here want one again but I think my next lib I want to try a berkly jet drive see if it will be any faster
i have a 241 liberator with a tired 460.im also doing a 514 ford with king cobra outdrive.just wondering what was your max rpm and prop .and oil pan .i putting and 8 quart on it.think i have enough to clear in bilge thanks tom
I don't remember to be honest with you. I knew it was pushing 600 horse and the King Cobra handled every bit of it though. The important thing with these builds is to make sure you dial in your timing correctly for the application.
Yeah Mike383HK, We both (myself and Timmy running the Baja) had friends die on the river. We also know the river like the back of our hand. Don't talk shit unless you've been there. The Video doesn't show the scale of the space we had, and how clear the opportunity was.
I'm looking at a 1994 four Winn's 351w are these fuel injection. what should I look it for. he is asking $8,000 but will take 6000 do these hold their value
94 was the last year. 8k is a good price depending upon condition. I had 3. 87-88. they go for 3500 in running condition to 7 in really nice shape. I ended up throwing a rod on this. the motor rebuild didn't justify itself at 12000.00.
IF your friend was fishing in the middle of a navigational channel then he was an idiot! Same dumb asses who come up from NYC and try and kayak without knowing the dangers of the Hudson's currents. OR better yet, try and kayak after dark with LED lights protesting they have right of way. Stupid is as stupid does. That day, the channel was clear for over a mile. No chop in the water and perfect conditions. You can't comment unless you were there.
67 on GPS 22 pitch. OMC 460 stoked to 514 cu.in. naturally aspirated. OMC king Cobra outdrive. Shame I couldn't find replacement parts. Sold the boat a couple of years ago for parts after I threw a rod. It would have cost 15000 to rebuild. More than the boat was worth.
Thanks WATER_MAN! Key board warriors seem to know it all. The Baja had a new 502. 27 ft vs. 21ft on the Lib. The Lib had a 460 stroked to 514. Dyno'd at 600 HP
@@MrJerryrigged1 Wow flashback 4 years ago ! ...that is good for that boat...Do you still have it?? . Like i said originally not a fast hull so that is pretty impressive. I currently have a 252 Baja with only a 310hp 454 and it does 57-59mph GPS. With a built 513 600hp d be pushing mid 70s easily.
Somewhere on the shore... someone was standing that day... and that was the best sound they heard all year.

Such a great video of the legendary Liberator!
i had an 1988 liberator 460 30 over omc king cobra out drive running a 21 pitch prop it run 66mph great boat made 425 hp it was red white and black
That's a cool boat - and a cool motor. The old OMC Cobras were cool.
Yup the Liberator won! I have a Four Winns boat love it. Won't have Another brand boat. Good job!
Thanks Man! Looking around for another one soon!
dam thats fast for an old boat and the fact it was keeping up with that newer looking outlaw is crazy
It would walk off on the newer outlaw

i’m looking at a 87 Liberator 211. I was on the fence about getting it. But after this, I’m going to go ahead and get it. Lol, bad ass my man!
great hull, dated design. square as hell, fast. ran with my Pachanga22. better cabin in the 4 winns. fun race!
Haha!!! That's the ultimate sleeper in the river that's for sure!!! Nice bro!!
That is why guys buy boats like that where we can go top speed and race eachother without getting pulled over.

He probably got tired of being neck and neck and quit racing. Fuel ain't cheap. I like how close this boat got to the green channel bouy.
Local boydidgood better than the bridge pier. looks closers than you think
Gerard Mccluskey just ball-bust'n. Our liberator gets its fair share of challenges too.
🤘😮
Don't they both have the same engines though? 350s?
I actually thought the liberator gave it all it had, then it kicked it up one more notch lol
You would have left him in the dust if sat down and got your dome below the windshield.
Still, impressive.
You think it can create a huge difference ?

Joe Stewart 21p. Only cause I was previous owner. Was a bad ass. Lib!!

To kurwa dobrze.
Ma dwa silniki? jak szybo zapierdala?
It's for sale. Let me know @ gerardmccluskey11@gmail.com
They ran through two structures at full speed! Highly illegal. My friend was killed like that while fishing!!
What motor is in your liberator?
Roland Knight 514 stroker
do you still own the boat
Not bad for a Four Wieners . Prob has 100 more hp than the Baja , cus those hulls are not that fast.

Well that’s why. Go ahead and go to the ozarks and lake Cumberland (2 foot chop) and then see who will win lol
For a boat under 10k it had a 513 stroker pushing 600 hp. 67 on GPS
