    I actually came back and after a LOOOOONG search found this video again here in 2018, ten years later, because I wanted to get the name of the band.
    The music makes this video. Without it, it's just some boats doing laps, but the music ties in some feeling and emotion.

  • @racing16
    @racing16 16 лет назад

    You got some good points there. These boats are run a race nozzle with no adjustments. Some boats do run a trim plate though. These guys are racing against a clock for the best time. Every now and then you'll get two side by side. The rivers are too narrow to run the whole feild side by side so that is where the clock comes in. The less boat in the water the less drag you have. Usually there is only about 2-3 feet of boat in the water.

    Their called hydros. You wont find much informtion on our site about them. The boats a are made from sheets of plywood laminated. Their powered by a murcury 6 and high tuned! The racers kneel down inside the cockpit.. They have a hand throttle and a steering whell inside the cockpit. Cool little boats to watch and their speeds are pretty impressive too!

    They hit a roller in that turn. Rollers are green waves that don't break like a rapid. You won't see them until it's to late. It caused the boat to pitch and well you saw the rest!

    AMAZING! I love to go fast on water (smooth water)! I have a Donzi with a Blown BBC making around 600 HP the best i have seen is just under 90 mph on GPS and to be hones that seemed pretty darned fast to me and I was alone in the boat, if I have anybody with me I like the 65 mph limit thing can go wrong very fast even at 65 mph!
    The HP and level of skill involved in this kind of racing is SO IMPRESSIVE, being able to read the river at 100 mph and be able to put all the data into the knowledge to be successful, I have no experience with water like this but your knowledge of the river and your equipment is truly amazing! Be Safe keep being impressive as hell!

  • @racing16
    @racing16 16 лет назад

    You'll hear them let off the throttle when the go into a tight turn to drop the bow slightly. Once the boat begans to hook and turn the punch it! This allows the to power out and sustain their speed. These boats will actually drift around a corner. Most of the bottoms of these boats are tunnels. They don't have a standard bottom on them, they also have what are called steps, It allows the water to break of the bottom of the boat fast for hole shots.

  • @racing16
    @racing16 14 лет назад

    You might want to look at a Tunnel Hull. The drive like sports cars and you have the horses to push it. There are a few used race tunnel hulls for sale at the eagle site. If not that at least get something with a step to get on plane a hell of lot faster!!

    There basically used during a long stretch of river when the motor can be wound up. The foil does tend to work on the straights, But believe me I've seen quite a few get torn off during the sections of whitewater. I see a lot of the on the bigger boats with extreme top end speed. The boats tend to get in the high 90's to low 100 in the straights.

    I don't know much about these boats, so I can't comment from that pov. But I know a bit more about video cameras.
    That looks like a shaking camera with "rolling shutter". Notice that the whole scene is wobbling. The camera scan the scene top to bottom. And as it shakes, it will point in slightly different direction for different parts of the picture.
    That makes everything look wobbly.
    If the deck flex on top of that? - I can't say.

  • @CLAYTONTHEBRAIN
    @CLAYTONTHEBRAIN 16 лет назад

    why dont they trim the water steam down. i have a jet boat and run the missisippi all the time. when the water stream is trimmed up it raises the bow, makes it less manuverable and tends to make the bow hop more in rough water. it would seem to me they are creating a less stable condition at the worst part of the river. if the jet stream was down the bow would move down helping to keep the rear higher in the water so you dont have to worry about shallow water and you can out steer a corvette.

    They don't run a prop, they use a jet turbine drive. They can go in stupidly shallow water, are immensely powerful and turn like you wouldn't believe. I drove one (far less powerful than these) at a place in New Zealand's north Island. It's the waterbourne equivalent of Rally driving.
