  • Why was Vinesh Phogat Disqualified Before her Gold Medal Bout? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified ahead of her final in the 50 kg women's wrestling event at the Paris Olympics. Vinesh weighed around 100 grams over the permitted limit on the morning of her bout. Why did her weight fluctuate over the two days of competition? Is there any evidence of foul play? Palki Sharma tells you.

As an Indian, I am deeply concerned about two significant issues: why, with such a vast population, we are not producing more renowned scientists and why we have so few medals in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Mainstream media often focuses on promoting government agendas and narratives, while debates frequently center around religion, caste, and creed. Despite our immense talent and potential, political parties seem to only act when they perceive political gain. For example, where is Modi when our wrestlers are seeking justice against a criminal politician within the party? He has remained silent, failing to support our athletes. If we treat our sports stars this way, how can we expect to inspire others? It is truly a shame. To date, how many notable figures have we produced? How many major brands have we established? As a technical professional, I struggle to find a single popular app or website that was developed in our country.

blame the reservation , indian do great thing but they do it in abroad bcz there they do not have shackles that hinder their growth new people like arvind shrives & ashok elluswamy are doing great work .As for sports event it may be bitter to say but its true that we do not have the fund to give a proper grooming to our players . They do not get the same exposure from young age as our western counter part get & when they get some lime light then they are mostly at the end of their carrier . the events like Olympics have a avg expenditure of 30-40 lakh per player & we are still a developing country all the govt bjp & cong barely provide a sustainable lively hood facility, there is no proper water light education facility in many areas so can we just blame the govt for not endorsing player properly bcz we have millions who are barely educated and needs the fund . The most sustainable way would be that private firm like ambani adani endorse the new generation players so they get the correct training without burdening the govt

The more the population, less the value for individual life and talent. We have more average and below average humans than quality ones. Look at all the criminals and their uneducated/ unemployed background. Other countries hone talents even if they be small in number.

This is the Olympic, where professional athletes compete, not some backyard wrestling, rules must be strict. If she was professional, she should know the rules and do everything she can to stay qualified. Being in wrestling, boxing, etc weights are a big rule, thats why they have different weight class. She should have weigh herself hour before the final, even she is needs to eat, drink etc. If she finds herself over weight, she could have easily resolve the problem by doing long quick job, poop out the weight in food, pee out out the weight, put on different clothings that has reduce weight.
