Lets keep in mind that spaced armor is way harder to penetrate than regular non-spaced plates. The reason is that the projectile has space to tumble, fragment and/or change flight while traveling in between the plates. Great video as always, love how you bring out different targets to be shot with crazy rounds.
Thats not exactly true, layers are important, but space is a negative. Energy transfer is the goal, and space between layers denies the transfer of energy.
I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but copper work hardens. The more it's deformed, the harder it gets. That could be part of the reason the black tip didn't do as much damage and is almost certainly why the bullet turned left. It kept pulling towards the softer side. You can anneal the copper to get it back to a pliable state after it's been work hardened.
Edwin Sarkissian u r the best. Shut out from Israel. 🇮🇱 love your videos so much. I'm 17 years old and I'm volunteering in the Israeli police for a year now. I've got the m16 and I was, and still exciting for me shooting or carrying the gun. So when I c u shoot the 50 Bmg. I'm so satisfied. Plz keep up. And if u can plz shoot some Israeli weapons. Like the Galil ace. Tavor. Negev machinegun. Jericho pistol.
I've been planning on buying a Barrett 50 BMG for the past 3 years. But I've gotta say.... because of this channel alone, I will now be buying The Serbu 50 A. Thanks Edwin.👍
The second shot veered off in a direction away from where the first shot went in. The first shot made the metal around the hole it created harder from compression forces. If fired at fresh copper plates it would have gone through all three.
That 1st piece of copper with the tracer/ incindiary round hole was like art, that was so cool n perfect, I'd have put it on a shelf somewhere😁 keep up the good work, ur videos are awesome!!
I know if that´s some kind of meme but I see this comment on literally any big gun channel. I am pretty sure that this is not going to happen but what can happen is that Jeff from Taofledermaus comes over with his Chronos Highspeed Camera. I think they even know each other.
this is the only gun channel i know. now i will check "Taofledermaus" channel cause i like guns thanks for the recommendation! But I'm sure this is the best weapons channel in the world
They shot a 50 BMG at a mirror on the opposite side of plexiglass to see what it looks like to have a bullet coming straight at you. ruclips.net/video/G-6UNE09kW0/видео.html
Copper is a very maluable substance, similar to silver and gold. Indeed they are all under the same column in the periodic table, a reason why they have similar properties
Amazing that a projectile can penetrate 3 inches of copper and still have lethal power. I recall from documentaries hearing stories of American troops in tanks getting hit by 50 cal bursts. They said the bullet would bounce around inside the cockpit and sometimes kill someone.
I will take free copper anytime I see it. Of course I would not spend the time breaking apart an AC unit, but that right there was probably $50.00 worth .
Mine as well ask for gold because that amount of tungsten would cost a fortune. I'd love to see it though, if you can afford it please send it to him we would love to see it.
So your second shot might have hit a hardened region of the copper. When deformed copper actually gets much stronger and harder, that's the kind of skin-like patterning you see around the penetrations.
I actually like these "softer" metal targets, they kind of show the damage a bit better, just like Taofledermaus, i love that clay block that Jeff uses. Perhaps you can find some aluminum plates next!
On a serious note. It would be nice to see the limits of each 50 BMG projectile. Specifically, how much material is required to resist penetration by each type of round. Start with softer materials of increasing thickness, like copper and aluminum and work your way up to 7075/7475 T6 then onto brass, mild steel, hardened steel. This way we could see the limits of each round. It would be a bit more of an experiment than you are used to but that is no big deal. You have the equipment, interest and God knows you have the time... lol. It would be a series of videos that many people would be interested in AND it would keep you out of trouble for a few months. Think about it. I actually do not know what those limits are and it would be nice to know.
I watch all of ur videos... Love them... One request... Can u show us ur camera man on one of ur videos... Ur conversations are much funnier then any comedy videos
Should grind the metal back down to the surface of the plates, clamp all three together, and try a APIT round on the whole block (without the space in between). Assuming the danger of bounce-back ricochet can be ameliorated.
might be nice to know a bit more about the rounds you fired. like projectile weight in grains, and perhaps the powder charge amount to give us some real world details. obviously that first round being tracer incendiary has a different jacket but being armor piercing is that tungsten or depleted uranium? just a few thoughts.
You kill me! haha. always burning your finger! I figured the soft copper would allow for pass-through. It may not tumble next time, and the incendiary might tumble next..?? Great vid!!
Interesting to see. Copper is fairly soft. I would say, always compare with a standard round. Very cool to have high tech rounds but standard is a good reference point. You can also look up the principle of the rounds you use. For future videos, I'd very much like to see aermet 100 plates if you can get someone to give you some. It's a very strong steel alloy. Maybe start with 10mm because it's strong. You could also try Glare sheet which is an alu-fiberglass composite used for aircraft and explosive resistant cargo containers.
WOW indeed! Not to mention the fact you need to drive quite a few hours to get the shot. Amazing... and yes, bullets are HOT... let them cool first or use a leatherman... friction with the barrel, the burning gasses and the incendiary compound burning at high temp yep, hot. Keep up that great work... wonderful movies Thanks! Saar
Was this annealed (fully soft) copper? Looks that way. Yield strength of 'regular' annealed copper is only 10ksi but it comes in work hardened grades with much, much greater strength (5-6x as strong).
Gave me an idea. Use one of those laser thermometers to show viewers the temperature of the slugs after they've been shot. Would be cool to see and would save you from future burns.
Definitely need a .50 BMG loaded with API rounds when you have that much copper on hand (-: That had to be an expensive experiment. Bear in mind that although copper is pretty soft, it is very dense (it's actually used in composite tank armor) so for a bullet to go through 3" of it is really impressive.
Edwin, I have an idea for you. Carry a small bottle of cold water with you when you go to check out the damage. Just a 20oz bottle or something. Cool the rounds off before you touch them since you always want to pick em up right away! Haha....Great videos man, keep up the cool stuff!
Lets keep in mind that spaced armor is way harder to penetrate than regular non-spaced plates. The reason is that the projectile has space to tumble, fragment and/or change flight while traveling in between the plates. Great video as always, love how you bring out different targets to be shot with crazy rounds.
+TexugoFTW thank uuuu
That's also why the black tip didn't make it as far. It just happened to yaw on exit and break up hence the two impacts.
Thats not exactly true, layers are important, but space is a negative. Energy transfer is the goal, and space between layers denies the transfer of energy.

just got Facebook: facebook.com/Edwin-Sarkissian-152550912003267/
Also that bullet was sitting there for a while I didn't think it would be hot.
Edwin Sarkissian Watch out for those druggies that copper must be worth lots of drugs
cdawson198600 HahahHa true
Edwin Sarkissian I don't have Facebook yet 😧
Edwin Sarkissian shoot some oooblek Google what it is if you don't know and nice video
Edwin Sarkissian u r the best. Shut out from Israel. 🇮🇱 love your videos so much. I'm 17 years old and I'm volunteering in the Israeli police for a year now. I've got the m16 and I was, and still exciting for me shooting or carrying the gun. So when I c u shoot the 50

What´s the most dangerous job in the world, you ask? Being Edwin Sarkissians camera-man.
+Rafael Lastra com true
Rafael Lastra com that's no joke! Lol!
Being Gasparito XD
😂
The cameraman never dies, least of Gaspari
Please, give your cameraman a raise. He's pretty damn funny. Mad love!
Funfact : he literally burns is finger in almost all of his videos picking the hot bullets.
I've been planning on buying a Barrett 50 BMG for the past 3 years.
But I've gotta say.... because of this channel alone, I will now be buying The Serbu 50 A.
Thanks Edwin.👍

Ok got to admit, I died at the office scene
Rip :(
That 1st piece of copper with the tracer/ incindiary round hole was like art, that was so cool n perfect, I'd have put it on a shelf somewhere😁 keep up the good work, ur videos are awesome!!
Russian models and Edwin before shooting : "We're hot!"
😂
No matter how many videos I see with the 50 bmg. The sheer power of that round will never cease to amaze me. Just amazing
Note:tracer compound burns very hot.
Gotta agree. That’s one of the coolest impact/penetration results I’ve ever seen. You should auction or gift it. That’d be a badass wall piece.
"Maybe you will cooperate with "The slowmoguys
I know if that´s some kind of meme but I see this comment on literally any big gun channel. I am pretty sure that this is not going to happen but what can happen is that Jeff from Taofledermaus comes over with his Chronos Highspeed Camera. I think they even know each other.

Did you want to say "copperate" instead ?
Kay, I'm out...
Slow mo guys wont risk damaging their cameras:/
They shot a 50 BMG at a mirror on the opposite side of plexiglass to see what it looks like to have a bullet coming straight at you.
ruclips.net/video/G-6UNE09kW0/видео.html
I always thought cooper plates are more impact resistant? 🤔
AlienGoBoom impact resistant not penetration resistant
Copper is a very maluable substance, similar to silver and gold. Indeed they are all under the same column in the periodic table, a reason why they have similar properties
pure metals are more malleable than alloys because of their their atomic structure
That's what she said.
AlienGoBoom no copper is deff not, it's soft
First! Wait...that projectile was still hot? Who would have guessed?
First Lake
markserbu u never know lol 😂
markserbu it wouldn't be a complete video without a burn.
tell him to spit on it !
markserbu the finger burnt is your fault. LOL
Love your vids! Never a dull moment!!!
What a beast!
TAOFLEDERMAUS yyes
Wow
hello
Amazing that a projectile can penetrate 3 inches of copper and still have lethal power. I recall from documentaries hearing stories of American troops in tanks getting hit by 50 cal bursts. They said the bullet would bounce around inside the cockpit and sometimes kill someone.
You are making meth/heroine addicts lose their minds with all that sweet copper, lol! Great vid
+siccmade425 lol
🤣🤣
I will take free copper anytime I see it. Of course I would not spend the time breaking apart an AC unit, but that right there was probably $50.00 worth .
Man Your videos are pretty cool just subbed ... keep em coming
50 cal vs Tungsten please
Mine as well ask for gold because that amount of tungsten would cost a fortune. I'd love to see it though, if you can afford it please send it to him we would love to see it.
Taofledermaus did a video about it but not with a 50 though
Tungsten ain't cheap but its nowhere near gold. Would be possible to do
Xcaliber Trekke
Better start saving up
*Touches bullet and gets burned* OW!!!
*Touches 3 more times right after* OW STILL HOT
Okay, good to know. Note to self; do not make tank out of copper, got it.
TheKajunkat Copper costs too Much , here if you have something Coppermade 99% It gets stolen in like 3 months...
@Archock Encanto not that cheap tho
Best gun channel ever...
So your second shot might have hit a hardened region of the copper. When deformed copper actually gets much stronger and harder, that's the kind of skin-like patterning you see around the penetrations.
R Re so it’s like a non Newtonian metal kind of?
You guys are my favorite RUclips channel. I’m going back watching the videos before I subscribed.
Turn them sideways and clamp them together and shoot them on edge
rob maloney THIS
THIS???
Yessss
Goodbye clamp
Very good
This was amazing, it punched through much better than I thought it would and I bet that copper was worth a lot of pennies.
#1) 50 cal deserves it's reputation #2) His friend with the camera has real good eyes
How much did all that copper cost? You just sell it for scrap when you were done? Cool video. Would love to see more rounds. 22tcm, 22-250 etc
Alaskan Mandingo a pretty penny for sure :)
Those copper plates are beautiful.
Alaskan Mandingo nah that's like 200 at most
I'd also like to know how much one of those plates is worth. I would polish it and keep it as a show piece
after shooting the plates you can bring them back. this way you maybe loose only 10-20
man that "that what she said" finally got me ;)
A like is dropped :)
You are my inspiration! What to do when I grow up
Plus quite a bit of friction going through 3" of copper!
WOW ! AMAZING HOW IT MADE THAT LARGE WHOLE GOING IN THE COPPER ! GREAT VIDEO !
Hi I love your videos they are so cool and fun :) GOOD JOB !!!!! ;)
+Jose Julian Rosales thank you so much
This dude has a dream job shooting up stuff, copper plates today, titanium plates, cockpit windshields on other days.
please dont ever wear gloves
Or use pliers to pick up the hot bullet.
You think with what he drops on .50 cal BMG rounds, he'd afford a pair of gloves! : ) Awesome videos...keeping me laughing! Keep up the good work!
Would've been nice to see the plates together as well.
Just an FYI.
For like $20, you can buy an infrared thermometer. It's a lot cheaper, and less painful, than suffering from a burn caused by HOT metal.
Great job you are the best gun you tuber there is
+Melanie González thank u so much
Edwin Sarkissian you***
I just realized you reached 1.3M subs, congrats!
nice one dude!
The Bearded Outdoorsman thanks dude
I actually like these "softer" metal targets, they kind of show the damage a bit better, just like Taofledermaus, i love that clay block that Jeff uses. Perhaps you can find some aluminum plates next!
Cant believe that first easily went through 3inches of copper. Great vid
On a serious note. It would be nice to see the limits of each 50 BMG projectile. Specifically, how much material is required to resist penetration by each type of round. Rafael Lastra com Black tip would be the best, not talking about Green tip but that's 100$ worth.
Then API ,then APIT.
408 cheytac is way better than 50cal at long range penetration
Is copper the I mean one of the softest metals or is lead good shooting as usual and thanks for what you do again 1000 thumbs up
Ur the best 😍
I watch all of ur videos... Love them... One request... Can u show us ur camera man on one of ur videos... Ur conversations are much funnier then any comedy videos
45 degress. Night shot!
Should grind the metal back down to the surface of the plates, clamp all three together, and try a APIT round on the whole block (without the space in between). Assuming the danger of bounce-back ricochet can be ameliorated.
Could you imagine getting hit by that Round !!! 😕
There would be no imagination left after getting hit by that rounds lol
@@fachwissenpur2981 exactly 🤣
It would leave you speachless for sure.
Congrats on 400k subs!
+Nick Doerksen thank u
Now shoot gold plates
"Doing it Justice" and "Justifying it" are two very different things my friend :)
very cool . Cooper its probably the second most importante metal for humanity
Laird Cummings probably You re right . but today the steel is the principal metal in use . in the Stone Age probably cooper was the easy metal to work
B Souza be very close
B Souza Not only easier to work with, but you can not find pure iron anywhere.
You are the best thank you for making great videos and working hard 👌🏽
+Melanie González thank you so much
Mi amigo José. Ahí andas wey!?
Great channel. I really enjoy you shooting that 50 cal rifle.
This guy is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I like his 50cal. vids.
jlasud Why? Cause he acts casual? :) Why people gotta insult with no reason
It's lovely to see these vids.
I only give a thumbs up when Edwin burns his fingers :-) Love the videos. Thanks for laugh.
5:34 bullet hit and bounce between last 2 copper plates and fly away(watch carefully). Nice slow motion, great view on bullet :)
Nice video..subscribed for your humour..both of you all work well together..and a mild humour to ur videos as always.. nice...
Edwin you really should do a compilation video of finger burns LMAO!!! You guys are great entertainment!
Very cool that first shot was wicked and explosive
Wow what a difference. I suppose the incidnary round heats up allowing for easier penetration, and acts as a propellant?
Man love Yur videos ❤❤
Take care of Your self
Brilliant best one of yet🤘
Amazing, that really surprised me. I thought copper would have been more resistant. Slow motion would be great too. But very interesting. Many thanks
We need the videos to keep coming, please save those fingers! I can recommend the Leatherman Skeletool CX, my favorite edc tool for the last 5 years.
Amazing videos you produce, Thank you so much
might be nice to know a bit more about the rounds you fired. like projectile weight in grains, and perhaps the powder charge amount to give us some real world details. obviously that first round being tracer incendiary has a different jacket but being armor piercing is that tungsten or depleted uranium? just a few thoughts.
first time u fixed the targets , I always want that from u
You kill me! haha. always burning your finger!
I figured the soft copper would allow for pass-through. It may not tumble next time, and the incendiary might tumble next..?? Great vid!!
I thought I could see filling turns in the copper ! Really see the spin effect.
"Just in case there is a ricochet it won't come back. Hopefully, that kind of made sense in my own head. It better not."
Lol
good ! continue with VS videos and you will grow fast .
Edwin: touches bullet, hot, probably second worst burn...5 seconds later touches it again!
You guys together are funny as heck!!
+SBSRIVERA lol thanks
Edwin Sarkissian P.S. you need to start wearing gloves. Lol
Interesting to see. Copper is fairly soft. I would say, always compare with a standard round. Very cool to have high tech rounds but standard is a good reference point. You can also look up the principle of the rounds you use.

Somewhere there is a metal scrapper watching this drooling
WOW indeed!
Not to mention the fact you need to drive quite a few hours to get the shot.
Amazing...
and yes, bullets are HOT... let them cool first or use a leatherman...
friction with the barrel, the burning gasses and the incendiary compound burning at high temp

Hell yea nice work dude!
+CAT DIESEL POWER thank u

I love the sound of the ricochets. Tungston was brilliant.
The HQ pictures at the end are a great idea. Also, the report joke was pretty funny.
+Annie's Boobs lol
dad jokes in the end? amazing
Gave me an idea. Use one of those laser thermometers to show viewers the temperature of the slugs after they've been shot. Would be cool to see and would save you from future burns.

Copper is such a soft and cozy material! Somebody should start producing copper pillows. I'd definitely get one.
Very interesting comparison 🎉
Edwin u should always have a multitool with you... GREAT video guys
Great work guys Thnx!
That first shot was amazing
Edwin, I have an idea for you. Carry a small bottle of cold water with you when you go to check out the damage. Just a 20oz bottle or something. Cool the rounds off before you touch them since you always want to pick em up right away! Haha....Great videos man, keep up the cool stuff!
Edwin Sarkissian: Ricochet-bait extraordinaire.
Amazing video and greetings from finland🇫🇮🇫🇮
Boy I sure wish I could hang out with you guys. And learn some stuff
That was cool, congrats on the subs!!! I was one of the first 500 and glad to see you come this far!!!
+Doug Floyd thank u so much
