I wanted to do horseback riding since I was a little girl. My dad never allowed it because he was scared I could get hurt. Long-Short Story. My parents got a divorce one year ago and my dad stopped caring about me. Now, almost 17 I finally start to take riding lessons. I even got a job to help my mom pay for it, while still being in school. I couldn't be happier to finally start following my passion.

All equestrians are my heros. They fully trust their horse to carry them safely. If you don’t trust your horse then you can’t really call yourself an equestrian because the bond between the horse and you means everything. Everything with animals is based on trust. If a dog doesn’t trust you, they bite you. If a horse doesn’t trust you, they kick. So if you trust your horse and the horse trusts you and you *can* work together in harmony, you are a true equestrian and I can call you my hero

This song relates to me so much about a riding school pony that I love 😭 I’ve done 2 competitions with him and the first was a cross country, he bolted in the warm up arena and then spooked at a bramble bush. The second one was a showjumping and he went into a really fast canter as soon as I gave one click and he flew over the jumps like they were nothing. I got 8th on him as we knocked one pole down. I was proud of him for not messing up, but I still can’t forgive him for the first comp. He’d been in a competition before, he’d done cross country before, he’s seen a bramble bush before, he’s seen a warm up arena before! Most of the time when this happens I switch horses (because I don't have a horse I ride barn ponies and horses) but for some reason this time I feel like I can’t leave this pony 🥺
You've got this! Even the most bomb proof horse has its moments. There was a 30 year old mare at a barn I rode at that let tiny kids ride her and she was super safe, but one day when no one was riding her she spooked at a broom I was holding and tried to run away. It's hard to understand what's going through their heads sometimes but if you feel like this horse is one you can grow to trust as he learns to trust you then I think you should go for it!
Awww thank you so much ❤️ This means a lot to me. I am actually now growing out of this pony, I’m having to ride a bigger horse now. I still ride him sometimes though. The bigger horse is the safest at the barn and I actually find it kinda boring because I pretty much know how to ride. I like a challenging horse.

@@unicornpoodles5552 I get what you mean, I've gone back and forth and there are definitely perks to both worlds. The mare I currently have is pretty spooky but also safer and lazier than the mare I used to have, even though she was braver. 🤔 It's really weird now that I think about it. But I think there's a balance between being dedicated to your horse and knowing when it's time to continue your journey growing and learning with a new horse to become a part of your heart. 😁 I try not to beat myself up for moving on because some times it's just better for both the horse and rider when we've learned as much as we can with each other

Going through that with Capo. He’s teaching me to ride through nerves . He’s bucked me off once but mainly does things like pull the reigns out of my hands. I just tell myself he’s just being a teacher. I know when I progress to harder tasks with him it’ll be because he evolved me to be tougher.

Us equestrian, we get “words” from non intelligent people.
They keep saying hbr (horse back riding) isn’t a sport. We just sit there. The horses do all the work.
But as I know, we don’t just sit there. You have to work with the horse. You have to be working together, you and your horse. We, have to train our horses for them to cooperate with us. So, yea. We totally don’t just sit there and the horses do all the work 😃

When people say it’s not a sport they don’t realise how much effort you put in just to walk, are my heels down? Is my back straight? Are my fingers around the reins properly?
