    *Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*

    I catch lots of pike and pickerel bass fishing with poppers and frogs ... But they hit a lot more on spoons 🎣

    *I would say it’s dang good since **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s caught a pike first time using it! My cousin had one that cost the same price I paid, but for one. And didn’t catch anything. I say it’s a winner!*

    I’m surprised to see no spoons on this vid. There’s always the classic, five of diamonds and the Dardevle ones.
    Great vid!

    I have caught a ton of Pike on a white Arkie Bass Swim Jig with a 5 inch White Grub Tail. Wal-Mart $1.56
    Strong Hook & Weedless.
    Fun to Fish and a killer bait.
    The Pike Attack it with a vengeance. I can’t tell you how many times I almost got the rod pulled out of my hands.
    So many times this summer the Pike attacks just feet from my boat as I’m pulling it out to cast it again. Wham they just go for it. Got the crap scared out of me a few times when not expecting it. Now I’m ready for them. Damn it’s exciting.

    I just moved from rock bass to pike and the two lures I've had the most luck with are my daredevils and my inline spinners. I tried using a soft swimbait and i only got one bite and the damn thing ran off with it in his mouth. Thanks for the video though I'm gonna be heading to Walmart tomorrow i might pick up a spinnerbait and check it out.

      The longer I fish for Pike, (almost 40 years now) the less tackle I bring. If I've got a selection of spoons, a few spinnerbaits, and a couple F-18 Rapalas I'm pretty confident.

    I am not an experienced fisherman but I have had tremendous success with some old 60+ year old lures by Fred Arbogast -The Jitterbug and the Hula Popper! I don't know why experts are totally ignoring these baits but I'm willing to bet that no surface lure ever created could match the effectiveness of these two lures! Please respond with your analysis of these two classic topwater lures and if you think they would be effective for Northern Pike in shallow water in Spring. I plan on going on a fishing trip to Manitoba next year - 3rd week of June! Let it be said that my success has been for Largemouth Bass but shouldn't these timeless topwater baits be effective for all species including Pike? I await your response or anyone elses response Thankyou!

    • @bushleague3472
      @bushleague3472 Год назад

      Pike dont seem to be as good at striking surface lures as bass, they will go after them for sure but your hookup percentage wont be as good. That said the Jitterbug is one of the better ones, because its fished on a relatively slow/ steady retrieve pike seem to have an easier time hitting it. IMO you are better off buzzing a spinnerbait, or popping a big Rapala, if a pike misses just let the hook go under and he'll likely hit it again.

    Good video! Thechances of catching a monster on the lipless crank are low. I just can't find any over 3 inches. But buzz baits! Thumbs up!

    What’s your favorite best leader combo for the spook? Best leader to keep a good walk the dog?

    • @kos7941
      @kos7941 2 года назад

      150lb fluorocarbon , fluoro over 1mm is good for pike any knicks or scratched cut and retye the leader. Also single strand titanium is very good due to the thinness , lightness and durability. Try use a lightweight snap and swivel when fishing topwater on your leaders

    Doood, I love walking baits for bass and I’m sure that they are good for pike but I had 3 pike 2 that I know were 40 + and the other was 30ish blow up on spooks and miss by a foot to 6 inches
    So idk if I will ever be able to throw those again😂

    • @TAFilms
      @TAFilms  4 года назад +1

      That's pretty common for me with topwater pike, not sure why. It may just make them mad enough that they try to scare off whatever it is. Otherwise may just be the fact that they have poor sight.

    • @dalt1020
      @dalt1020 4 года назад

      TA Films I think it’s more of the aggressive thing, they hit or swing at it when it moves cause they don’t judge it they just want to crush it

    Hey bud great videos. I'm using 100 lb flurocarban to tie on my giant rat and XL whopper popper. What knot do you suggest? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

      Max imus why use 100 lb the lighter the line the faster it sinks use 25 you will be fine I use 50lb braid and never had a break off braid sinks faster

    Dude, love your channel! Great topics and I love this video! Top water pike fishing is awesome too, have you tried the Whopper Ploppers? Also, just wanted to comment on your video pictures, pretty sweet! May I ask what application your using to get the effects on the photos? Keep up the good work man, I appreciate your videos!

      Fishing PA with Ryan Read Thanks! I do own a whopper plopper. Haven’t tried it for pike but guarantee they’d work since they make such a disturbance in the water.. For my thumbnails I use Adobe Photoshop.

  • @Bouwplan
    @Bouwplan 4 года назад

    Honestly, why not go for Musky bait? You will still catch smaller pike on those from time to time. And am talking from experience, from a country where we use Musky size baits. Pike and Musky aren't that different. Musky can grow slightly larger the Northern Pike.
    Just my view on the topic, do with it as you please. :)

      Gsstar1414 Yeah small inlines are a really popular bait as well just one I never really got into throwing much since it’s more of a multi species bait in my mind.

    I feel like your focus on bright/ loud/ obvious lures is somewhat flawed. When a half interested pike fears its prey is about to escape, that can often trigger a strike... a pike knows that a huge orange rattling plug couldnt escape if it tried. Alot of my most epic days have come fishing relatively subtle lures, even in pretty dirty water. Last June I had a session where I caught over a dozen pike in the 40" range in about 2 hours, the water was filthy and all they would hit was a plain silver spoon.

  • @joshw6562
    @joshw6562 Год назад

    I have multiple "top tier" pike lures that absolutely skunk my brains out. Days and days without a strike. A basic Five-of-Diamonds Spoon, regardless of size, brings home multiple a day. I do not get it.

    Why are pike so much easier to catch than muskies?

    • @TAFilms
      @TAFilms  4 года назад

      I wish I knew lol. I'd assume its just a higher population and maybe a different metabolism. If I could catch muskies at the rate I catch pike, I would be one happy fella.

    interesting how americans how more about hard baits. But then again not a single jerkbait.
    Here in europe we mostly fish with soft baits or jerkbaits for pike.
