    For the past several decades we have had this same problem in the USA- cynical people who desecrate their supposed religions by using them as nothing more than a front and organizing committee for political activity, while enjoying tax-exempt status and a lack of oversight or enforcement of any kind. Even if someone acts in a way and says things totally contrary to the religion they claim, the government is literally not *allowed* to challenge their sincerity, it is completely insane. It provides the perfect opportunity for wicked men to cloth themselves in holy writ where most they play the devil.

      Yes. Marxists have infiltrated churches in Brazil, too. They promote a kind of marxism called "liberation theology", which has already been condemned officially. However, marxists know how to commit crimes without being caught! Marxism needs to be classified together with n4zism.

    Hello Eugenia, great seeing you again 😊. Your video was very interesting and I think that I may have to watch it several times to map the contents with a historical time line. I think that you cover all the salient points. Thanks very much. As a Catholic and someone not very familiar with the orthodox church(s), I feel that I should try to study this subject in more detail. Take care and stay safe and happy and keep smiling. I dare you to delete this
    3:45 Prayers and commemoration for victims of violence, war, and terror, and for refugees are made every day by those who follow the standardized morning prayers as well as in every Divine Liturgy and prayer service.
    5:05 Russian and Ukrainian Orthodoxy has been intertwined for the entire existence of both Churches since the Baptism of the Rus in 988AD. All Orthodox jurisdictions commemorate these icons and saints, not just the ROC and UOC.
    6:40 St Alexander Nevsky is considered a saint because a) he defended Rus sovereignty and Orthodoxy against german and swedish crusaders. b) He recognized the impossibility that is resisting to mongol invasion, and out of humility he negotiated peaceful terms to preserve the remaining Rus lands and people from the destruction that was brought down upon Kiev, Chernogov, and Vladimir. This negotiation paved the way for Rus independence from the mongols following the battle of Kulikovo. c) St Alexander's humility led him to become a monk in his final years. His legacy has nothing to do with Stalin but everything to do with his courage and humility in preserving the rights of Rus Orthodox Christians against insurmountable odds. St Alexander Nevsky is commemorated by ALL CANONICAL Orthodox Churches throughout the world.
    7:00 Church unity and canons supersede lines on a map and what flag is on each side of the map.
    7:55 Every Church jurisdiction works to ensure the spiritual needs of soldiers can be met, regardless of nation. This is why military chaplains are commonplace in modern militaries.
    8:20 Churches work to meet the needs of all people including cultural minorities like the Cossacks who have lived in Southeastern Ukraine and Southern Russia for centuries and owe no singular allegiance to Russia nor Ukraine.
    8:30 All of these monasteries are located in or close proximity to Crimea, and with Crimea being a Russian occupied territory for 10 years, of course it will have a Russian area code.
    9:30 Peace and stability of the world is prayed for every day by all faithful Orthodox Christians. Being an active warzone does not mean that UOC Priests are replaced with Russian friendly ones. Captured cities, towns, and settlements need time to mourn their losses and rebuild.
    10:30 Being in Communion with the Moscow Patriarchate does not equal being directly under Russian control.
    10:50 if anyone is poisoned by propaganda, it is people like you, who spread lies and rely solely on their nationalist opinions.
    Another note, Constantinople has no authority in Ukraine, it granted this authority to the Moscow patriarchate in the 17th century. The "Orthodox Church of Ukraine" that was made in 2018 is entirely made up of schismatic and defrocked clergy with the sole goal of Ukraine's government having control of its very own religion. It is noncanonical and holds no authority except the ironfist of the ukrainian government. Its supporters attack elderly women and monks, and seize UOC churches and monasteries for no other reason than power. As history has shown time and time again, the faithful will endure and the enemies of God will be scattered.
    "If the world is against the truth, then I am against the world." - St Athanasius of Alexandria.

    The UOC isn’t linked to anything. Orthodox Church have communion with each other. Patriarch Bartholomew (EP) has not severed communion with Moscow.
    You’ve shared a lot of your personal views and understanding, but it is mostly informed by a secular and not religious ecclesial theological view.
    We have family in Sumy and Kryvyi Rih, I understand it’s hard to offer unbiased views. However all my family is in the UOC under Met. Onuphry. I wish the government would stop the persecution of the laity, clergy, and Hierarchs. They are your fellow citizens and kin.
    BTW, many other churches across the globe commemorate Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Alaskan, middle eastern, Egyptian Romanian, etc. Icons.
    I’m a priest in the American Orthodox Church.
    We are in communion with Moscow AND Constantinople. We are NOT in communion with the OCU nationalist group.

    Why do they commemorate alexander nevski? Because the territories of russia and ukraine where apart of kievin rus. Which was one country. Ukraine didn't exist yet neither did russia. With out alexander nevski russia and ukraine would not be orthodox today. Just because Stalin used it... Stalin used many things in his propaganda. That does not negate that nevski was also an important figure in ukrainian history as well as russian history long long long before ukraine was even a country

    • @EugeniaFromUkraine
      @EugeniaFromUkraine  3 месяца назад

      It's important to recognize that history can be interpreted in many ways. Alexander Nevski is indeed a significant figure for Russians but not for Ukraine

    • @brandonfrench8012
      @brandonfrench8012 3 месяца назад +2

      @EugeniaFromUkraine Alexander Nevsky was part of Kievan Rus, which was not just a collection of separate tribes but rather a federation of Slavic principalities that were politically and culturally interconnected. Kievan Rus reached its height in the 10th and 11th centuries, and it included various regions and cities, such as Novgorod, Kiev, and others. While Alexander Nevsky himself was from Novgorod, he was part of this larger political entity that influenced the development of future Eastern European states, including Russia and Ukraine. So, he was indeed connected to Kievan Rus, even though he is often associated more with the later Russian principalities. He still influenced politics and culture in the territory that is now ukraine.

    States which claim the separation of state and church don't do that. Others have fully religious states and openly admit that.

    • @EugeniaFromUkraine
      @EugeniaFromUkraine  3 месяца назад

      I understand the confusion! The Ukrainian Orthodox Church you're referring to is officially known as the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU)
      . It's also called the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP)
      . The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), on the other hand, is often referred to as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC-MP)
      Does that help clarify things?

  • @antigonmkd7245
    @antigonmkd7245 3 месяца назад +1

    no offence. but i see you are not really familiar with religion. Saints are saints all over orthodox church. go to any other orthodox church they have them there. it's a saint for the world not for a nation. has nothing to do with nationalism. please understand that. You are using politics for faith that is not for politics. thats not logical

    • @EugeniaFromUkraine
      @EugeniaFromUkraine  3 месяца назад

      While I understand your point, BUT what Russia is currently doing to our country is illogical. Additionally, Nevskiy is not recognized as a saint in all Ukrainian churches, such as the Greek Catholic Church. This distinction is important to consider in our discussions.
