red velvet has two concepts sonically and visually;
the first being “red” which tend to give us a brighter happy go lucky sound (example russian roulette),
while the “velvet” side gives us more mature smooth sounding darker songs (example: psycho).
of course there are times where these are both mixed

Going with the tennis reference theory, Irene did indeed win in Russian Roulette -- Irene got the fewest kills, so she scored the fewest points and was closest to zero (zero = love), so Irene was closest to "love" by the end of the MV. Such a fun MV (as long as you survive, lol).
