No way is that the same Reece as you've done all the work for in the past, his videos and workmanship are incredible! Serious talent!
Great idea, Nick on painting the fuse board maybe the suppliers might decide to start making different colours,, just wondering if Unilite would bring back the speaker, , 🔈. SP-4500 Work Light 45W , I really like mine. But Fortunately l got my stolen when the van got pinched . ⚡️👊

I subscribed , of course I’m gonna take a look after I’ve watch your vid Nick! 😜
@@jvoric legend
If you wanted there is a spray paint called simoniz vht paint wich will do around 800 degrees before melting
Flash back to the 50s and 60s when many fuse boards were black not mat, not gloss but a sort of soft sheen black
You should Try Different Colour's from Black & White Try a Red or Yellow (Powder Coated) etc, go well in a Trendy House
Fitted a few of the black consumer units from lewden.. nice boards
Yo While She Sleeps!!!! Great band!
Just ordered one of the lights after seeing you use it thst day in your unit
Interesting video, because it highlights one of the many differences between countries. Over here in the Netherlands, most consumer units are actually black plastic, and they don't typically come with a lid. And that means that the breakers, which are all white, really stand out. Not that colour or lids would matter much, since they're hidden out of sight in the meter cupboard, anyway.
Lewden do the black board I did an unpacking of 1 what they gave me to test
The only problem is its a lawden board but still cool to use for a customer
Honestly if Verso boards become Navitas colours with the black and green I'd be inclined to fit more of them just because they'd stand out. Especially if the breakers etc are black too.
Thanks Nick, it is interesting to watch. A few things though,. Will you hurry up and put a hand rail up on that mezanine level? I don't want to see face-dive the unit floor. Also, in relation to the fire extinguisher tubes, I use intumescent pads with self-adhesive pads at the rear knockouts. Regarding the issue of whether painting a CU is okay, I would say, not that I agree with it, that a lot will say the same as using mixed manufacturers in a CU..... it isnt type tested with that paint so you take ownership of it.
There’s a bloke that does blasting and powder coating really cheap up at Bednall (not the first place opposite the 7 stars, further down towards Buxtons).
No handrail on your stairs!
Leiden do make a black one, it would be nice for more manufactures to bring more out, it might stop people cramming them into cupboards if they looked decent
you can buy BBQ/wood burner spray paint, which is fine up too 650c. although i cant imagine youd have any issues with the one youve done
What's the earthsure like? does it have the powder inside so it strips easy?
I really like it mate. Same to strip as normal t&e but Adam said different yesterday
@@NBundyElectrical Ok thanks, my pet peeve is when the insulation sticks when stripping
I'm sure the paint or power coating is irrelevant for the fire protection. I think the metal structure is the key to it, same as red rust protect for steel beams
0:37 I’m pretty sure There’s a company that sells recon individual earbuds
Brought some new ones now mate but thank you
@@NBundyElectrical no worries, btw I just emailed you about the giveaway boxes u have, my email addy same as my user name here..👍🏻👍🏻
I believe Apple will sell them as a replacements individually if you go to store
@@NBundyElectricalstill confusing bought with brought unless you bought the new ones and brought them to the unit
Nice one Nick please leave Adams mum alone😂😅😊😂😅😊
other thank not type approved by the manufacturer?
Google says powder coating can withstand heat upto 550’c and there’s a spray paint called rust-oleum which can withstand upto 750’c.
rust'oleum doesn't withstand 750. It dies on 150'
@@dimitar4y depends a bit. You have special versions for car exhausts or bbq's that can stand high temps. If i'm not mistaken it's rated for 750.
@@crapiecorn yea but they are usually pricy or have to be applied as powdercoat. Or self-vulcanizing powdercoat.
Just use something like hycote brake caliper paint?
@@dimitar4ynot necessarily, I’m respraying my bbq with the stuff right now. Works great straight out the tin.
Brake calliper paint ? Much higher temperature rated paint
But also any modifications outside of manufacturers guidance will surly void any liability and put it all on you
On a note I’ve painted a few in the past to the customers request
If you need high temperature paint on a consumer unit you got serious problems. 😂😂
@@johnwarwick4105 It's about the stability, honestly. The boards are cool as a cucumber, but as the paint ages it flakes and can cause fire in rare cases.
Yeah yeah...and walking in front of a bus can be dangerous
@@tonywatson1412 yea same rationale but legislations are made on bs just to make people waste money
I think BG and Lewden make black boards
Nick....think about it ...boards are pressed metal boxes , thats all..with basically little differences between them...And they aint even waterproof ... if fact any metal box might do 👍
I thought that, but apparently they have to be type or conformance tested to comply with regs, so you have to use the manufacturer’s enclosure…. don’t ask how I know.
Need a hoover or extractor for the blaster m8
No. The blaster is a closed loop. The sand falls and gets reblasted...
@@PearsallEu you can get a filtered extractor that sucks all the sand dust out of the air to clear up the visability inside the blaster, but still keeps all the sand in the closed loop
If you're concerned about fire ratings of the paint you can get high temperature paint for like wood stoves etc. and that should have no problem.
The number of times I've seen Electrical gear painted in the US drives me nuts because once it's painted it's no longer the beautiful gloss powder coating and then you just end up with layer upon layer of yucky paint because everybody comes in and says it looks gross let's give it another coat of paint and then you can't get the door open because at some point It ended up getting painted shut. This is usually a problem with the receptacles as there's only a set number of colors and the interior designer can't stand that white doesn't go with everything and somebody installs Cream or ivory yuck. Gray and black aren't bad but those are more expensive because it's used more for industrial. Where was it going oh yeah the outlets get painted over and over and over sometimes you can't get a plug in there, and because we use thin slots it just sucks the paint in.
You made it?
Sorry Nick, Proteus has already made one.
Can't blast with sand anymore it's as it contains silica, UK is only allowed to use things like glass beads/crushed, aluminium oxide, bicarbonate of soda, walnut shells and a few other materials
it's fine since all blast media works about the same. If anything, garnet is prettttttttty nice.
Stuff their rules 😊
sorry to disappoint you we were black facing DB's in the eighties for theatres and studios , nice try
Forged carbon CU please...
Nick I think you are so wonderful
Matt-e
Lewden sell them mate
Oh
Guess I’m the second then
Sorry Nick, Lewden beat you to it.
We do a 9 & 18 way SPD board in black
In North America, white load centres are considered designer 😂
Love ya videos mate! But stop the rubbish, keep to the electrics
reminds me of a girl i used to know
Matte*
Don’t BG sell coloured and patterned CU’s
Point of order, matte.. matt is a name
Does it remind you of Adams mum 😂
Never heard of her 👀
Maybe Stacey’s mum😉
Adams Mum by any chance?🤣🤣🤣
No idea mate 👀
Did Adams mom find out how famous she is...
@@PearsallEu yeah I’m with her now mate 👍
Have you done the giveaway or did you scam us😂
worlds first, lol
I don't think you are the first to be fair .
they had PLASTIC boxes, painted isn't going to cause more problems.
Paint is more flammable, yes, and age/moisture will make it PEEL and FLAKE onto TERMINALS and cause a fire.
if you only paint the outside it cant get to the terminals 😉
You should not have published this video until your research was complete, this is going to give people ideas that may fuck things up. EDIT: Or, at least put the warnings at the beginning of the video.
Entertainment and education, since when the video say, do this now it's great. Don't you know the Bundy boy, he's all about trial and error!
@@michaeljarcher I was thinking more about the stupid DIY'er who watches the first 5 mins and goes.. OOOOOOH... No ever making it to the end of the video where he says don't do it.
Now it’s time for the LGBTQ+ fuse board,
Nick not sure what you've got yourself into but I'm sorry no. That paint job if you look at the video you can tell its not uniform. It's patchy. I know give the guy a chance but he's not quite there yet. I men come on Adams mum is having a go at me right now
No you didnt
Iv already done this sorry to burst your bubble pal 😂
If it’s not on RUclips, it didn’t happen. 😉
@MrIbib good point haha
