RIP Li Zicheng - Dashing King, Shun Emperor

Wusangui is definitely not a ethical person . He started his life as a Ming loyalist and then decided to surrender to li zi cheng but later oppose him by helping the Qing forces to establish the Qing dynasty. He even killed the Ming prince to gain the loyalty from the Qing emperor. Finally, he decided to overthrow the Qing dynasty for fears of being killed even knowing that his actions will result in the death of his son and grandson.

The irony of this story is that while the country was collapsing due to lack of funds the courtiers had plenty of money hidden away. They would rather that everything collapse than to give up an ounce of silver. Torture is obviously terrible as a tool to get actionable information from your enemy but apparently a great way of getting them to tell you where they hid their I'll gotten gains. Pathetic that nothing ever changes.

They thought that the empire was destroyed and that as long as they paid allegiance to the new emperor, they could keep all their wealth and privileges. But obviously Li Zicheng did not do this, so they quickly joined the Qing Dynasty to "avenge the Ming Dynasty."

Yuan Chonghuan, was the Yi Sun Sin China would have had as Korea did when the Japanese invaded. But unfortunately, his fate was already sealed when the Ming had already fallen internally.

Without Chinese help, Yi Sun Sin would be able do anything to the Japanese. Chinese army fought the war mostly, wasn’t Korea itself

Been to Shanhaiguan - took my parents there in 2008 - it's a nicely rebuilt fort - parts original, but mostly rebuilt.

Wu Sangui is the name that every Chinese frown upon up until today. People still call traitors 'Wu Sangui" today.

He was called the traitor of two empires. The problem with that is they expect Wu Sangui to die defending Shanhai pass for an empire that no longer exists. Wu Sangui only had two options, either the Shun or the Qing. Li Zicheng murdering Wu's entire family is arguably the decision that toppled the Shun Empire. Dorgon offered Wu Sangui vengeance and a noble title.
He is proven to be a self-serving man, but his is a tale that should garner sympathy.

      在我看来吴三桂不是汉奸的代名词,更好的形容是和吕布一样,是反复跳槽的代名词😂

that picture of the Warrior on Horse, saluting people, seems more like something from Song Dynasty China, not Ming nor Qing.
