But I believe rebuilding the witcher school might be a thing in next game. Yea they lost igredients, but what if someone found a trail to the long lost books on how to make needed ingredients? Sonwe coukd meet full grown empress Ciri at some point, maybe not in a next game but a second from the new trilogy?
I'd honestly much rather play as a nobody than "the chosen one with the ultimate bloodline". The parts of the witcher that I love the most is just the lone wanderer parts, where its Geralt ( but it could be anyone really) walking the land, discovering amazing characters and places in the world and getting in to trouble and adventures.
While I loved the epic conclusion to the Witcher trilogy, I think I agree with you.
You want a sandbox RPG rather than a narrative RPG. Which I wouldn't mind either. However, part of the problem with Cyberpunk is that CDPR advertised it as a sandbox but couldn't commit and the result was the mess we ended up with: nuggets of gold buried beneath a mountain of indecisiveness and half-baked ideas (like the police mechanic). Hopefully Witcher 4 will be more focused on what it's supposed to be.

I would have loved a story based on the collapse of the witcher order and the establishment of the different witcher schools. You could choose your school and follow different paths and builds and stuff like that. Would be so cool

Personally I’d love to see a game set 200-1000 years in the past where Witchers are abundant and strong, maybe even set close to the the time of the conjunction, I think one set during the creation or soon after it was created, of whatever school you’re in would be awesome aswell
I dislike prequals due to the outcome of the world being pre-set. I WOULD be cool with a Witcher game much further past the last one.

I just hope that this time all the main NPCs won't vanish completely after we finish the story. That moment Geralt spawns in Kaer Morhen all ALONE was painful. :(
The cat school is often referred to as a corrupted entity, whose members became hired assassins. This is an incredibly good premise on its own. A game could follow this school's downfall and place the hero in a unique moral dilemna - to follow the witcher way or follow the politics.

they could start with the cat school and then the lynx is the new school that goes away from the politics and go the way of the witcher
My main hope is that they capture atmospheres as well as they did in the witcher 3. Something about velen swamps, novigrad at night, touissant and dusk in skellige just felt so beautiful and perfectly crafted, and I think the art direction and environments were perfect. Changing engine will definetely have an effect on that due to likely new graphics and new lighting systems and modified art direction, so I just hope they still manage to capture the magic in the environments like they did for geralt's last game.
Yeah I hope that too...also in the story etc. But I think that the developers who made TW3 just have to do it that good again...why shouldn't they?

I'm not saying they will be, and they probably won't be, but this is a hypothetical, much like the game being the greatest game ever made. Pirating it - rather than buying it and supporting the studio - seems very petty.
@@tridonstrident6785 Heh, I "supported" the studio by pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077 because of TW3 and they spat in my face. Never again. You keep your lies and manipulation, and I'll not only play your game for free but put all your effort and time you spent into carefully crafting that world mean nothing to you; not in terms of monetary return or goodwill, because I will never trust them again. They're Polish EA to me now, and that's how they'll stay, lol.

As for Witcher 4: I'd love to see a story within the glory days when there were more Wichters. You probably can't go wrong there.
Same here - maybe to reduce combination of backstories/dialogue you can customize your character like Mass Effect but you are always a woman this time. One origin story, one name, to make sure they write it well instead of getting overburdened with ensuring dialogue adjusts to all those origins/combinations on top of all the choices/consequences Witcher games are so known for. If you wanna play a guy Witcher, the excellent original trilogy is right there for you to replay (maybe with a remake eventually of the first one/two but I doubt it).
@@mikfhan Where did the only playing as female come from tho? there weren't any female witchers since the mutations were aimed for boys and would only end up killing the girls. Ciri is the first female "witcher" and even she isn't an actual witcher since she can't undergo the mutations since she would mosy likely end up dying from them. I mean i get slightly altering the source material from here and there, but the witchers only being boys is kind of and big part of the story. Even netflix didn't go there and they were all about chancing the story.
I would like them to leave Geralt and Ciri’s story alone with the endings we got at the end of the Witcher 3. It ended with a great sense of accomplishment and the video they released for the Witcher’s anniversary was a fantastic way to say thank you and goodbye to Geralt from CDPR

W3 was the best rpg game I have ever played. The whole story including dlc's which could be a different games, the music were Just something that cannot be describe in words. Just incredible story and a game of the decade.
It was a long road to it becoming one of my favorites. It didn't sink in at first for me but once it did, I went insane and became a fan of the entire franchise, reaching past the games and into the books and show. Now, I'm kicking myself for not playing this game until two years after launch because I would have LOVED to have been a part of such an awesome moment in games history lol
After spending 120 hours (a new record for me, the previous record was for TES: Oblivion) I kind of felt that the minimap had stolen the pleasure for me. After a lot of time I realized that I don't remember the world as good as for example Gothic or Morrowing because I was stareing at minimap all the time. I realized that the scale of minimap could have drastically improved my experience. Too bad I realized that very late.
And also why this is the best RPG - quests are very interesting. But the consistency of the world is not as good, there many blind spots. Many things you have got to learn from wiki articles so you to have a coherent understanding of events. Also Gerald don't have much of ways of development. The most efficient are swords and the rest just cause more pain at harder difficulties.
@@SoundPeaks I agree but at the same time, I have a hard time playing the game without the minimap due to how it's designed. The game feels like it was meant to have one, whereas TES games tend to be more about the wandering and exploration.
As for the blind spots and other things you mentioned, that's because the series is based off of books. The games take place after the books so if you haven't read them, you will definitely have to check the wiki articles and in-game databases pretty often. I did that for my first playthrough but now that I'm replaying it after I've begun delving into the books, things just feel so much more "real" and cohesive. Geralt has already become a developed character at that point which is why his development isn't meant to be particularly drastic.
Absolutely agree. It’s the only game that I have felt so much a part of that I actually became physically sad and depressed when I finished it. Not in a huge way, I’m not trying to be that dramatic, but it had become so much a part of my life that I felt slightly lost and empty without it. I have tried Cyberpunk a few times and I simply can’t get into it - for me, it is not even remotely in the same league. I actually came the The Witcher 3 really late. I got the game when it was first realised, free with a graphics card purchase. At the time I didn’t know anything about The Witcher universe and thought the game was a ‘monster hunter’ like thing which wouldn’t interest me so I gave it to my son. It was only after watching the first few episodes of the Netflix series that my son said I should try the game. I did and became totally drawn in. I felt empty when I finished the game so I then went on to read the books which were great but then again I felt empty when I reached the end. Now I’m always on the lookout for new Witcher stuff, graphic novels, animations, fan-made shorts even the series two of the Netflix series (which I watch with a little pain and grimace). I need more Witcher.

I like the idea of the past or a future conjunction. Maybe 10-20 years from W3 there is another conjunction because all of Ciri's universe hopping pushed it along? And then the last remnants of witchers have to start looking to create witchers again because the monster populations are increased and there are new ones? Because they are the last remnants of several schools, they create a new school and our character is the result of that. That would allow us to see Geralt and our old cast again, but let us jump into a new story line

XLetalis, man. If it wasn't for you, my Witcher 3 experience would've gone so wrong in so many ways and would've felt so quick. Your guides enabled me to find the best path and choices for my playthrough. Thank you. Cheers to another 10 or so years finding all the secrets in Witcher 4!

The interesting question here is what it is that made you rush through the game in a way that makes you feel that way. Just thinking back to the time I wasted in the Kaer Morhen region alone... the views, all the little spots to discover... The sheer beauty of it made me look for excuses to delay the main story. And because I took the time to explore, a lot of the "X amount of details you missed in..." videos just made me go: no, I got most of these, but thanks all the same for showing them to me again.

Changing to Unreal is a good move all around. CDPR and any studio that uses a proprietary engine is at a massive disadvantage when it comes to hiring new talent as their tech is unique to them. Having a more common platform, while not potentially as profitable allows the studio to attract broader talent and not invest months to years learning it, only for them to leave.

I totally agree. I've been working on simple stuff with UE5, and it's absolutely amazing. Super user friendly too. If you have a good PC you can learn it. For free, unless you need additional assets you don't want to make.
Yeah, a lot of the original staff from Witcher 3 left already. Also, CDPR expanded so it isn't just in Poland any more. It will be a nightmare to have the senior people whose primary language is Polish try to transfer institutional knowledge about REDengine to teams outside of Poland.

I love Geralt, but we have to be fair. His story is done and, as much as it pains me to see him go... we have to, in order to honour his memory.
The main character was always the world, Geralt was our emotional anchor to it.
Player customized character from the school of the cat would be interesting. I agree, bringing back Geralt would be a tragedy. They wrapped up his saga so beautifully.

@@agntprometheus why not? Sapkowski deliberately made an open ended case in the books, that Geralt is alive 105 years after Lady of the Lake. Saying his story is over is like saying, 3 books into the Witcher. "No more books for Geralt. He's had his hard limit" and we'd never have the saga we already have. It is strongly implied that it is Geralt in the epilogue of SoS. Meaning Geralts story is still going. Its not in the cards for him to retire to a vinyard and play house like its the Sims. He's THE Witcher. The one mentioned in the title and the pov for 75% of the story. The entire lore was set down around him. Its not the witcher.. Without the Witcher. Like netflix. Its the Witcher in name only.
@@bernacus5949 Look, I love Geralt as a protagonist as much as anyone else, but let him ride off into the sunset and enjoy his remaining years in Toussaint. He saved the world for christ sake, let the man rest. It's not like he's going to just sit in a chair and turn to dust, Im sure there's still plenty to do in Toussaint that the people will call on him for but not something as exciting for us as the players to experience.
The problem with games and movies these days is writers are afraid to try new things within the same universes, they want milk a protagonist till they're nothing but dust, potentially leaving a bad taste in everyones mouth.
"The Witcher" isn't just Geralt , there's a rich history of other Witchers, there's plenty of stories that can be had and new protagonists to fall in love with.
I’m hopeful that the next game would have more witchers. Or an opportunity to TEAM UP with other witchers. I would have loved a quest for all three of our wolves - Eskel, Lambert and Geralt hunting a monster as a trio and then more brotherly interactions (drunk Witchers are hilarious and sober witchers are so sassy!) Even if it’s not the wolves, we met Ivo in Thronebreaker and I would love to have more background on the lesser known schools/ follow a different STYLE of witcher. ONE more thing - If the next one doesn’t have a dedication to your search for the secrets of the whole trilogy I will be disappointed with CDPR. I will eagerly watch you play through
The Crones, Gaunter, Dettlaff/Syanna are all pretty decent baddies so I trust they can come up with new ones who're just as good.
Yo check this idea... You play as ciris son/daughter (create a character/witcher) and the game starts you kinda like how 3 started. New place/ castle and new witchers within the first 20 years after 3.
That medallion is so blatantly a lynx that i refuse to believe it's anything other than the school of the lynx. Geralts story ended in Blood & Wine, and i think it's time to get a taste of something new, introducing a new school is a great way to make a new story in this already well known world.

My first reaction was basically what you've concluded - it's not a Geralt game, and it's very, very unlikely that it's a Ciri game either. Yes, it's a shame that we had too little time with Ciri, and I will definitely miss all the familiar characters (especially the hilarious Zoltan), but the storyline that we know is just exhausted and attempts to milk it further would just ruin it. Wouldn't be a new saga either. New characters and a different witcher school just make sense even if we didn't see a new medalion.
Speaking of that medalion and all the wishful thinking because Ciri had one - well, I have to admit I didn't look at it close enough at first to notice that it's not a Cat, but come on guys - Ciri is a mix of a lot of things, part witcher among them, but it's just a part ... she's not THE WITCHER.
What worries me a little is that, so far, while the games timeline was after the books one, there was still a massive story foundation already in place and this will no longer be the case for Witcher 4. A small framework will still be there in the sense that it's very probably the same world, largely the same monsters, I highly suspect we'll have lots of references to events from the story so far, and maybe we'll even get brief cameos from familiar characters. But everything else would have to be brand new and this is very, very challenging to do. In a way, CDPR took "the known" to a new height, but now the training wheels are coming off and it would be their baptism of fire (wink, wink) to pull it off. They've done great so far, so I'm hopeful, but not necessarily expecting to be blown away.
As for the game engine change, I'm not worried at all and this makes all the sense in the world. The Unreal engine has been as successful in its realm as the Witcher games have been, and the great part about all of this is hiding in that little keyword - partnership. CDPR is one of very few companies with the necessary experience to actually enhance the Unreal engine's already massive capabilities, all while benefiting from it and no longer having to commit precious resources to maintaining their own homegrown engine. Any developer who has worked on big in-house projects will tell you of their brittle nature, design flaws and huge technical debt (google this term) that builds up over time until the whole thing needs to be rebuilt from scratch. If they were simply licensing the engine, I'd be much more cynical about this, but a true partnership between the two companies makes me very optimistic.
They should hire Sapkowski as a narrative director.
I would love to see a main character where the witchers have died out and your character finds out how to recreate the trials, that being the intro, since monsters have mutated and grown out of control.
Although I'm sure there were certain limitation of the REDEngine that Unreal will be able to solve, I do think that CDPR with their REDEngine had some of the best facial animations and textures. Even some scenes in TW3 captured more realism and emotion than most games can today and Cyberpunk also looked great in that regard. I hope this partnership with Epic will incorporate that aspect of the REDEngine tech into this new witcher game and other future games as well.
I've played plenty of games and of all the ones that involved having extensive conversations with Characters, NONE ever captured the right kind of *feel* that the Witcher 3 did
Personally I really hope that we don't get over-done graphics that cause all of the faces to have a sort of weird uncanny valley effect, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see for now
Yeah, it just doesn't work with DX12 much like Ubisoft's AnvilNext 2.0 game engine doesn't work well with DX12 making Valhalla a bug ridden mess that crashes a lot on PC and throws a lot of "Unable to proceed in quest XXX" errors ... A DX12 game engine needs to be written from the ground up and just patching a DX11 game engine just doesn't cut it because the way it handles CPU cores/threading, the way it handles memory management both system and VRAM and the shader pipelining is completely different. I fear that Witcher 3 Complete Edition may be rough on release because it's trying to use a DX11 game engine with DX12
I agree, Witcher 3 has some of the most lively looking dialogue scenes compared to similar games
they built a library that could understand dioluge to filter than compose the appropriate movement and gestures. textures were fine but if you ever play is again in absolutely necessary to use hulk hogans texture overhaul it speaks for its self and is better than even some skyrim mods
@@longjohn526 thats false, and Cyberpunk si proof of that. At the same time, it's also proof that they needed way more time to add/rewrite the new systems needed by Cyberpunk coming from TW3. That the Main reason they see UE5 a good fit for future titles
The "Through Time and Space" quest was maybe the most magical part of the Witcher 3's main storyline, and my favorite main quest. Traveling between worlds really opens up your imagination. For anyone who read C.S. Lewis, the Time and Space quest gave me the same sense of wonder I felt as a kid reading The Magician's Nephew. If they could make a game that is grounded in the world of the Witcher, with either Ciri or one of her descendants experiencing a storyline that takes us across worlds, that could be fantastic. There are endless story possibilities there.
What I hope they don't do is a repackaging of witcher storylines, just with another protagonist instead of Geralt. We'd all like to go back and play the Witcher 3 (and maybe 1 and 2 as well) again for the first time, but a game that incorporates a lot of the same experiences with a new witcher is just going to feel hollow due to all the lore and depth behind Geralt's character.
Probably. But that would take time and effort to establish and wouldn't be very "witcher-y;" you know, the hunter who hunts monsters.
Geralt's character is fairly bland and generic in the games, he's a pretty standard protagonist. The Witcher 4 will never be as good as the Witcher 3, the latter had tons of lore and decades of writing to inspire it and build up to it. I doubt any game will be able to live up to what it did. But the Witcher 1 was a good game, some would say a great game for the time, even though it deliberately threw out the lore behind it. So I'm hoping for a new story on par with Witcher 1 (or Witcher 2) with the updated gameplay and graphics of today.
@@Kronos0999 Since monsters exist on the continent because of the conjunction, it seems like a new witcher protagonist- Ciri or one of her descendants- could easily incorporate a lot of monster hunting across the witcher world and other worlds. Maybe the game start's 25 years after the events of TW3 where Ciri's son or daughter wants to train as a witcher. You have an origin story as the first act. Maybe monsters are being brought onto the continent from other worlds for nefarious purposes. You have plenty of monsters to kill and a story that pulls the protagonist across space and time. I could see that game being very established in existing lore- feeling very "witcher-y", while also bringing us to places we haven't seen before.

@@jordanolafson I dunno, I feel like traveling across space and time is going to make it feel like Doctor Who, Stargate or some other sci-fi thing and not really fantasy nor witcher-y at all. I definitely already started to feel like that with the mini world jumping quest in Witcher 3 - Mass Effect minus guns.
When her powers are developed, she's basically going to be a demi-god. Wouldn't make sense for her to the focus.

When there were still lots of monsters and witchers everywhere, maybe see a bit more love for witchers who are needed
Also a game set right at or after the collision with one of the first witchers studying the monsters and how to make proper witcher gear would be awesome
Starting just before the conjuction. We see how the monsters arrive and the trouble that they cause. Then the start of the Witchers, how the trial of the grasses started, and then following a newly made Witcher on the path. For me this would be perfect.

Speaking of Unreal5 vs REDengine, I just hope they manage to keep the fantasy look TW3 has.
It's not super realistic looking, yet it's still graphically a great looking game, and it has a unique visual style which, in my opinion, perfectly captures the fantasy look the Witcher is set in. I hope they also manage to maintain the lighting differences in different regions, like in TW3. I loved how Velen was a dark and gloomy place, but when you went to Novigrad it had a almost completely different tone.
Yea the Witcher games always had the perfect balance between realistic and fantasy graphics.

I would like to play as Ciri after she jumps into the portal and the ending will be her return. But I think it never happens, simply because she is OP. It will be a pain in the butt to balance her in gameplay loops or seriously nerf her...

They are developing the game for years. They can pull it off especially if she lost part of her powers because of the journey she had in the portal fighting the white frost.
Maybe make it like she lost some of her powers while stopping the frost? Or she refuses to use it because of another outburst? There are many ways to make us play her without her being op.

Honestly, I love the Witcher games so much that I really don't care who the protagonist ends up being, I'm there for it. I'm looking forward to this game like crazy and I can't wait to jump back into that amazing world!
I want a game inspired by the future second conjunction (the one that resulted in a resurgence of monsters, witchers, and new schools such as that one specializing in marine and aerial monsters, Crane I think). One in which I can make my own witcher and choose a starting school with its own questline. Obviously with the ability to go each school for theirs as well.
I think the possibility to choose your school would be awesome, and could create a lot of replay value.
However, I’m hoping for a future story with Ciri or descendants of Ciri who bring the Witcher schools back to life.
I'd love to see more about the old world of the Witcher personally. Maybe letting us play characters like Erland of Larvik or Arnaghad. Not looking likely for the next saga but even a side game like Thronebreaker would be good for me.
I wonder who exactly would be the next bbeg though? The Wild Hunt is beat. Nilfgaard has either won or lost terribly. The Lodge is basically finished. I doubt a gang like Salamandra of any of the Novigrad gangs like Blind Eyes or Cuttups would be believable...

The options I can think of are
-Ciri as the main character
-A sequel, many years later, so the world has established a new order. Which would probably mean much less old characters and book references as well as a mostly original story
-A prequel of sorts

Can't believe it's finally happening and that you are making this video. The characters in the Witcher 3 genuinely feel like old friends at this point no other video game book tv show or movie made me feel that way about characters it will be SO weird going back to this world without them in the center of it, but like you said the community should wish the developers luck and let's see what we get. Also slight update on my last comment about the Blacksmith in Kaer Trolde, it looks like your interaction with him is alot more bugged than mine, I only need to meditate an hour near him and I can interact with him but it looks like your game is more bugged for some reason (I play the GOG GOTY edition version of the game if that helps) so I hope it works for you and not bug out! He tells about A "Battle axe that speaks" about fights it went through every Saovine and about a sword that Geralt notices is made of Meteorite steel, which he responds with "No, from the heart of a falling star" and how whoever wields it will never lose his way at sea. Also important, the story with the Meteorite steel sword story might not work the first few times so try the dialogue option a few more times it will work eventually.
Also we need a side quest with a character named Letalis in that game, FOR SURE.
That's one of the reasons why I replay this game... Doing stuff with Vesemir, finding Zoltan and Dandelion in Novigrad, chatting with Eskel and Lambert. This is also why I always postpone the Battle of Kaer Morhen and play HoS first - it prevents further interaction with multiple important characters.
@@bosmaior114 I had never even thought to play HoS (or B&W) before the Battle of Kaer Morhen.... I might have to give it a try on my next NG+ once I finish my current (and first) NG+ and my first go at Thronebreaker which I just recently bought. Does it change very much or is it just a few dialog options?
@@joeflosion If you play HoS before Vesemir dies the dialogue with one of the characters at the auction house changes, and you have the option of asking Vesemir about it, too. :-)
Edit - also, your character will be vastly overpowered during the Battle of Kaer Morhen. :-)

Since they confirmed the animal of the medallion as a lynx, I'd love to play a brand new witcher character, even a totally customizable one. The snow makes me hope to see Kovir and Poviss (can't stop thinking about the brief period of time Dijkstra spent there in the books, they seem beautiful).

I mean if it's cause of story concerns (I mean Skyrim is amazing but the story is well lousy given you can be literally everything, even as a warrior you can be the archmage who knows like 2 spells), could just have a set charcter you make your own similar to mass effect (ie John/Jane), that way you keep the focus on story but the bonus of making your Witcher well yours, especially given it would be a brand new character with no lore unlike geralt.
If it's another reason I'd be curious to hear.

I hope they remain somewhat faithfull to TW3 with keeping it third person, having loads of cinematics and giving the player the chance to make impactful decisions. I feel like those things really were the things that Cyberpunk was missing, although it might not be fair to compare the two. Cant wait to learn more.

In the Lady of the Lake, page 383, Ciri puts on a school of the cat medallion she took from Bonhart.
TW3 was one of the greatest. The "family lore", the quantity, the quality... but the family lore for me was the best part. The thing that involved you personally in every inch of that game so deeply. I even called my daughter Ciri (second name). I doubt there will be the same things in the new TW, I just hope it won't be too much like Cyberpunk... I don't manage to like this game.

Jfc I can't stand Ciri as a character, and I have no idea who theres a small portion of the community that whole heatedly embrace the waman empowerment. The majority of the community is so fn over Ciri, and years ago at launch the general consensus was everyone had, had enough of the character. Given the current trend in politics, and the Netflix Witcher primarily being, "The Ciri Show" I'm worried that the devs at CDPR share your sentiments, or are at least mistaken that the majority of the community desires to ever hear her name again.
Witcher 2 was a better game than the Witcher 3. There's no reason to suspect the new one won't be as good. Tho I enjoyed the Witcher 3, it's no where near the best game I've ever played, and I suspect it won't be terribly difficult to create something as good. It was a great game, but there are better.
It was the characters for me. Though I've played better games, I've never been so emotionally attached to the characters. Sure there were some that I despised like Ciri, but there are some many authentic, memorable, characters. They were masterfully written. God of War and the father son dichotomy really resonated with me being a father of three boys. Maybe that's why the Witcher 3 really resonated with you?

I would love a new story, a new witcher (maybe even your own character as a witcher). I really like the idea to play as a sorceress as well, but I wouldn't like the main character to be either Geralt or Ciri. I think that story is finished and should stay untouched :). Suuuper excited for this new game!!

Ciri is the “headmaster” and she picks you. Maybe your dad volunteered you, but no matter what, we’re gonna get to create the protagonist. I foresee us “growing up” in the school aging throughout the saga, and probably be put into a situation where we have to “grow up” fast.

I read this medallion is the head of a lynx, so we will most likely get a new school and the possibility of creating our own witcher. I like this idea. Besides, I agree with Jinzee. She said this school can reside in Dragon Mountains where there is only snow and white dragons. I think we could see Geralt and get a quest from him, but I don't think he will be a bigger part of the game.
I'm sure the next game will be better than Cyberpunk. The CDPR certainly learned from their mistakes. They know people love them for The Witcher, so they have to do everything they can to make the next game perfect.

I wonder why people are so keen on character generation. I've played my share of RPG-style video games, but one thing they all had in common: the more customizable my character was, the less the game world cared about what I had actually created. Not giving a lot of options for character creation gives the design team more room to set up a story path that actually fits the character.
Though I feel like at times a purely story driven game feels disconnected when you make your own character some of the best story games of our time, Witcher, Red Dead, GTA feel amazing because you fall in love with the characters and connect. A good example is Far Cry 5 and how it was hard to connect with your character compared to the others, it just all depends on how you do it, like Elder Scrolls Games do it perfectly.

I really hope we can make our own witcher and be fresh out of school. I remember when i first started playing the witcher 3 it seemed strange that everyone talked about me as though i was a great accomplished witcher, while i was a clueless newbie who did not know how to fight. Like at the beginner of the witcher 3, geralt should have all the potions and decoctions crafted, a good set of armor, and a pretty good "build" already if he had already had a long distinguished career. I new face fresh out of withcer school would meld better with a levelling system.
Create your own Witcher has a ton of potential so long as they offer very in-depth customization and perhaps face scan

I'm imagining that this new saga is going to explore the point of view of a brand new Witcher in the Era where Witchers were a very new and popular thing in society after the Conjuction of the Spheres, and a time where witchers were loved and revered by the public for their bravery, as opposed to the original Witcher trilogy where it was mainly focused on the ending of the Witcher Era, with witchers being nearly extinct and hated by society. It would open up so much more potential for everything.
Could also be a new conjunction of spheres bringing forth new monsters causing witchers to need to be made again as a necessary evil

I’d like to see it set earlier, when all of the witcher schools are still intact. In a perfect world I’d like a character creation section in which you design your own witcher and choose your own school. You could have six starter stories which then all feed into the main plot.
That's literally what they've done to Cyberpunk and why the character of V is so bland and inconsequential. That's the last thing I'd want to happen. Not only because of what I've said, but because choosing one school now leaves room to create more stories of other witcher schools in the future. If we get a character creation, that's basically gonna kill all the stories the schools can develop. You should also remember that Geralt was considered quite a unique witcher, in the sense that the average witcher doesn't meet kings or get involved in politics. That's why the set up for the school of the cat would be a perfect setting for a new story (we hear in the witcher 3 that witchers from the school of the cat became assassins in Lambert's quest).
That would make it difficult to make detailed/quality interactions with other NPCs (like there would be a problem creating nice scenes if the height of the character is variable)

@@thepowerlies You could solve that by making the character the same height, just have other aspects of it customisable (hairstyle, skin colour, body shape). It could even have a neutral sounding name, like Sareth or something, allowing it to be a man or a woman (if such outlandish things as pre-Ciri lady witchers are permitted). After all, we only know that there were no female wolf school witchers. We know very little about how the other schools worked.

The switch to another engine to me sounds like a blessing to be honest. Overall 3 was awesome (especially the quest structure and meaningfullness of the choices you made in them), but the movement was janky at times. And I'd love to see the ability to jump while in fights for example.
I share your concerns when looking at CP2077 thou. The quests there didn't feel nearly as involved as the ones in the witcher. And to be honest the whole Johnny Silverhand part of the story felt tacked on in the last year of development.
And please don't let Ciri be the protag... don't get me wrong Ciri is a good character but not a good protag for a witcher game. As for sorcerers and/or mages being playable... I'd rather play a witcher again myself but I can see it being appealing to a lot of witcher fans to add it.
Things I'd like to really see in 4: A deeper contracts system. One where you actually dive into what kind of monster you are going to fight and discovering how to best prepare for the fight.
I wish they'd simply make a Witcher 3 directors cut with all the cut content. E.g. Catrionaplague questline, Iorveth, some more hierarch stuff, the end fight against the wild hunt in Novigrad, Djikstra and the war having an ending that isn't completely stupid, which the theatre scene most certainly was.
I sadly do not think CDPR will make a W4 that will compare to W3.
Better than that, don’t waste time announcing witcher 4 until all the additions and new maps are added. I’m glad I didn’t waste time going through 3 until Wild hunt came through with all the additions. What a dull laborious drag to have to go through The Whole thing over and over just to see how the patch’s improved everything.
@@tropicthndr we're talking two very different things. You're talking about release practices. DLC's are normal. Games having bugs on release is also an industrywide reality. CDPR really messed that one up with Cyberpunk and it's hardly going to be better. Like you already state we already have a solution for that, and that's simply to buy it later.
I'm talking about the fact that the main questline in W3 wasn't finished properly storywise and that it's a damn shame.

It was the same with BaW actually, in the latter half of the game I remember there was, all of the sudden, a huge story arc leap that almost felt like a plot hole. Take your time CDPR, I'll gladly wait 3 years longer for TW4. If I could chose, I would even prefer a new and proper (remade) TW3 over everything else.
CDPR has a lot to live up to. And I hope Geralt and Ciri not being involved won’t leave a sour taste in some peoples mouth.
It would be cool if the main character was from the school of the Griffin, they're experts in signs so you could have such a technical system for different abilities and skills. Perhaps a special witcher with powers that rival the greatest of sorcerers?

With how TW3 ended Geralt's story with B&W, I don't want to see more of Geralt. It is such a satisfying end, given you also watch the 10th Year Anniversary cinematic. It was so perfect that I would rather see Geralt tending to his vineyard all day long.

I would love to see ciri or geralt as an easter egg, or maybe a side mission or two (which you only get if you get either empress or witcher ending). It'd be nice to see them being calm, at corvo bianco or somewhere else for example. However i find it more likely there to be an easter egg to them both.
Imagine if they pull the "The last of us 2" card and made us kill geralt in the first story mission💀

I really do hope for a completely new saga: New characters, a new story
I think that the "problem" of having 3 different endings for The Witcher 3 can be easily avoided:
In Cyberpunk, no matter what path you choose, after the prologue you always end up playing like a Street Kid. That's no different, Ciri's prologue would be different based on your W3 ending, letting you start with a save import or just straight up choose what ending you got, and then go on with the main story, which is Ciri being a Witcher.
If you get the Ciri becomes a Witcher ending, that's already set up.
If you get the "dead" Ciri ending, you just reveal that she isn't dead and just never came back to Geralt, leading him to think she was dead (and also giving potential for a great reunion scene).
If you get the Ciri Empress ending, she just escapes from her life as a ruler and goes back on the path (maybe she fakes her death), but this should be more complicated depending also on who won the war. Nilfgaard losing it's empress is a big deal and the Empire's story would change after that, in two different ways based on Nilfgaard's victory or defeat).
All of this can be easily made by CDPR, they'd just do as an import save function from a game to the other, which changes just some things and not the entire game.
Well, yeah, but what do you want it to be about? It all closed in the Trilogy with Geralt. By the time W3 ends, Geralt himself admits that the Witcher's are no longer so much needed, plus there are no resources to produce more.
CDPR originally wanted to create game before Geralt, in the past, so I personally think it will be a prequel. There is no reason for continue with Ciri or Geralt.
That works but it needs to be done properly :)
If you get the ciri is dead ending they should just show a cutscene or something and then play the end credits. It’ll hurt the emotional power of that ending if she isn’t actually dead.

the former witcher 3 and cyberpunk director and some of the employees left the cd projekt and start a new studio named rebel wolves and few months ago they announced that they working on a new AAA drak fantasy RPG open world that is part of the new saga develop using unreal engine 5 and now cd projekt announced new witcher and said part of a new saga developing on unreal engine 5. i think they co operating for development of new witcher and actually working on same project the fact that most of the key people of witcher 3 are now in rebel wolves studio.
there's an artwork from rebel wolves, game that's very similar to the witcher world.
I honestly think they'll go with the custom character scenario, based on all the hints with Epic as well as their route with throne breaker and the other witcher go mobile game. Anyway let's just hope it ends up being a great game. Also congratulations on all the recognition you got from your last video! I was excited to see you in different sites

If they do go with Ciri's descendant(Which i think is the best idea mainly beacause of the possibilities the Elder Blood opens), he could be a Witcher from a new and/or more modern school wich banned the mutations(because the witchers we know find it cruel). It could even tap into different technology like basic gunpowder weapons.

On Ciri, I suppose there are ways they could finagle around the three endings, like she sounded a little indecisive in the empress ending about actually committing, so maybe she gives it up later, and as for the bad ending... well, it was also implied Geralt died in that one but he's still there at the end in Blood and Wine, I suppose she could also theoretically come back at some undisclosed time. I would be kind of cheap to undermine choices in the third game like that, and you do make some good cases for other main characters anyway.
When you come to think of it, Ciri is actually a boring character. She is the focal point of the Witcher story, but not really an acting character. Her own arc is just a coming of age story. Once she reaches the point where she has the depth to be interesting as a playable character, she either fades into obscurity by becoming just another traveling monster slayer or becomes a powerful politician. Both scenarios by themselves are not really interesting to explore in a Witcher game. What made Geralt so captivating as a character is that his journey constantly revolved around both these worlds, ultimately even having them collide when his efforts pitted the armies of Skellige and Nilfgard against the Wild Hunt.
They would almost certainly pick a cannon ending if they followed on from W3, as they did with W1 & W2. However, I think they want a fresh narrative start like they did with W1, to give themselves (and the players) a lot more freedom to build their own thing.

A blank slate character would be cool, even if it’s totally customizable (maybe with a set name though for interacting with people) - you go through “training” as a new Witcher and then you go out and be a Witcher. I think that would be very interesting. Either way, whatever happens, I’m excited!

I think the Witcher 4 could include a multitude of diffrent playable witchers throghout the game's story representing all schools - Vesemir for school of the wolf, Letho for school of the viper, characters for school of the cat/bear/griffin/manticore. I think it's best to see a fresh take on W4 - brand new main character that gives excellent writers at CD Project their freedoom on making a compelling story BUT still similar to W3 and W2 let's you import a few options based on previous playthroughs including cameos from past game's results.
I would actually love to see the game take place after the conjunction of the spheres. It could be told from so many different perspectives of all the different races and how they came together in this world.
Whatever they do with this game, I hope it doesn't take place after The Witcher 3, timewise, because I couldn't play a game in which Geralt or any of my favorite characters don't live anymore :( So as long as the story is about something that happened before TW3 I'm happy with that :D
I am baffled at why more don't think of such scenario. In the standalone Gwent game, there has been ton of cards and background exploration of different witcher schools, events from right after the conjunction of the spheres, Alzur's experiments etc. This is the time when people are not yet dominant race on the Continent, the human mages are being taught magic by the elves. The monsters are still aplenty, there are dragons posing threat to growing settlements and witchers are just being formed as profession and they thrive in the dangerous environment. We have to remember that Geralt's times are already when witchers are a dying breed, even Geralt itself is suffering from lack of mission or sense in his life (at least in the books in the begining - later on he has Ciri)
We could also explore some Lara Dorren + Cregenan from Lod politics, or Falca timeline, plenty of other interesting locations, elvish cities at their prime, maybe more of Nilfgaard or Zerrikania just like xLetalis mentioned. I mean, this just too much of space for a new story, although lacking Geralt will be a hit in the stomach.
