I have never tried over-the-counter hearing aids, but would like to try them.

How do the Eargo 7's compare to the major iic brands like Oticon, Starkey, Phonak?

I testet hearingaids with bluetooth streaming (signia, widex). In my opinion this feature is totally overrated.
The sound is bad and the volume low.
It's nothing that i miss wearing the signia silk charge and go ITC-devices.

How does this stand against signia silk 7IX?

I have high frequency hearing loss in 85+ decibel range, will the eargo 7 help?

    • @HearingTracker
      @HearingTracker  Год назад +1

Hey porlancofxreviews thanks for reaching out. Sadly all otc hearing aids are designed for those perceiving a mild-moderate hearing loss. Given your description I think you’ll need to look at traditional hearing aids. There’s plenty of content on the channel that should help with that. Matthew

Matthew, I have asymmetrical hearing loss, moderate to severe in one ear and normal to light moderate in the other (no medical issue, just the way I am). With today’s technology, can I use just one device until such time as I may need two or do they work most effectively in pairs? I’ve not found this particular issue addressed in any of the ear help channels I subscribe to. Obviously, using one would represent a considerable financial savings. Your thoughts would be appreciated. John B.

Hey John, you’ll always do better with a pair to bring your hearing aids up to a balanced level. The ears judge the distance of a sound in the same way that eyes do. Making them balanced will help you with localisation (knowing which direction sounds are coming from), and providing you with the most effective hearing in background noise. I hope that helps, thanks for reaching out. Matthew

Good information as always, Thanks. I bought the 6's based off of your review and am somewhat pleased after a year and a half of occasional use. (not everyday). I did have to return the right unit for a replacement after 11 months from not charging everytime I inserted them in charger and now the left is doing the same thing. Also my ear canals are small I guess because with the pedals attached they would not fit. I trimmed all the pedals off of mine and they barely fit. After doing this I contacted Eargo directly and they recommended doing what I did by trimming the pedals. There are a small percentage of people with small of ear canals like mine they stated. Hoping the Eargo 8 when it comes out is smaller so I don't have to deal with the occlusion effect which is the biggest complaint.

What do you do when the removal cord breaks off when removing from the charger as mine did on my Eargo 6. Can you super glue it back on?

What I'm always curious about is the number of charge cycles they have? How many years will these last- can't find that info on their website.

Curious if the waterproof rating will help to stop the breakdowns. I had the Eargo Neo Hi FI and they failed at least 6 times in two years with very moderate use. Eargo was great and replaced them every time during the warranty but with them now out of warranty they both broke again and are useless. Want to try the new ones but only if the waterproof rating will stop the breakdowns.

Ok, so no provision for entering a doctor's audiometry test into the hearing aids. Just a makeshift test.

I was told by an audiologist that the Eargos are just amplifiers. Is that true?

Hi Matt: I love your videos! Just bought Eargo 7's had the 5's and the Neos. The 7 seems a little better but not greta I'm on a 45 day trial. I went to a hearing specialist and I can get the second from the best Phonak Titanium for $3600. In your opinion would the Phonak be a lot better than the Eargos? Like everyone I have the most problems in loud environments so wondering if the Phonak would be much better. Eargo 7 is $2300, Phonak $3600. Thanks

Hey Rich! Thanks for taking the time to comment I really appreciate the positivity! I would say that you'll find them better yes. Make sure that your audio verifies them with REM's to get the best out of the tech and your ears. Good luck and keep on watching! Matthew

Thanks for the review. I have Eargo 6's and they are terrible in noisy environments, do you think the 7's would be better? Can you recommend a rechargeable hearing aide that is as small as the Eargo's that might work better? How would you compare the Phonak Titanium aides to the Eargo7? I know they use batteries but just curious. Thanks

I traded in my five-year-old Signias, which cost me about $7,000, for a pair of Eargo 6 devices a couple of months ago. Cost was about $2,500 with tax after a service-veterans discount was applied. I'm enjoying them and haven't felt at a loss by the absence of blue tooth capability. Shortly after receiving my Eargos, I had a very beneficial Zoom session with an Eargo hearing consultant who did a modest remote programming of my devices to improve their functionality. It is worth noting that besides the two-year warranty for the Eargo 6 model, they come with lifetime support. They may not be for everyone, so the opportunity to obtain the free non-working samples can be a great benefit to helping you decide.

I signed up for the free sample to try them versus behind the ear type. All I got was a lot of solicitation with phone calls while I was at work. I tried emailing one evening while at home without a response. Apparently they won't send a sample without some sort of commitment. I'm looking elsewhere.
