  • I've reviewed the Ceretone Core One hearing aid, which is claimed by the manufacturer to be the world's smallest over-the-counter hearing aid. But is it any good?

I have not been paid, bribed or otherwise coerced into recommending any products in this film, and the onions expressed are entirely my own.

I think it's a case of 'watch this space', because they have been in touch since with newer iterations which are definitely an improvement, although I would say not quite there yet!

Thank you for doing this review. My audiologist has indicated that I too have an issue only in the high frequency range that's only been worsening as I age. You just saved me some money and grief!

I have just purchased the Eargo 6, in fact I watched your review because the one you reviewed looked so much like it. I should be getting it by tomorrow and hope it solves the problem you had. I have tried another small in the ear hearing aid, but I can't stand the feeling of having a finger in my ear permanently, so I am hoping the 'petal dome' will solve that by letting ambient sound in. I will see soon.

Very good informative review. My audiogram is almost identical to yours. I've had HF loss since birth and been through so many hearing tests and hearing aids only to waste time and money. I was told by numerous ENTs and hearing specialist that BTE with open dome is only design suited for my bilateral neurosensory hearing loss. But here in America, I cannot afford quality aids like the Phonak since I'm retired, and there is no comparable health service like you have where you are. I'm 71 now and have resigned myself to having to ask people to repeat themselves...and please don't try whispering to me! If you come across an OTC aid that is suitable, please do a review of it with links. Thanks so much for your information. Best wishes from Texas, USA!

I usually find people try shouting at me, which doesn't make them much more intelligible, just louder!

Hearing aids over here in America are ridiculously expensive!
I have high frequency hearing loss also, with tinnitus. I wish I lived in a country that provided free hearing aids.

Thanks for the review. What a shame these didnt work out. Im interested to hear more about their reaction when you complained about the feedback problems. Did they acknowledge that the whistles etc. were an unfortunate byproduct of their design? Are we absolutely sure that the product they sent out to you wasnt faulty in some way?

Yes, it was very disappointing. They made no explanation. As I said in the film, they offered to send me a mass produced version later (implying this is a pre-production version). Maybe that will be better, but it has some way to go.

@@arlo.guthrie Well, if you agreed to receiving a mass produced pair in the future and there are improvements, I would look forward to an update. Cheers 👍

Dear Arlo, we're deeply sorry for your awful experience of our pre-produced peoduct, for this late reply and your disappointment, and we really appreciate your review of our product. We will send you a new mass produced pair, hopefully it will bring you better hearing experience. Thanks always for giving us feedbacks and suggestions:)

Ceretone is a terrible company to do business with. Hearing Aids sound terrible. Refund has been promised last August which is 6 months ago, but refund never comes. Just promises and excuses. Do not trust ceretone

Dear friends, thanks very much for your attention in Ceretone Core One. We know this shows your high expectation of us. Ceretone sets foot with an aim to be a game-changer in the OTC hearing aids area. And we have been proudly to launch our Core One series with enhanced hearing, making it the smallest, comfortable and affordable.
We feel truly bad for the whistling issue in the pre-produced product we sent to Arlo and the disappointment. And we really appreciate Arlo’s honest review of our product and feedbacks, this means a lot to us. @Arlo, we actually have made great improvements in our massed production and will send you a new one for your test. Hopefully this will bring you better hearing experience.
Customer experience means everything to us. As we’re constantly evolving our product, we will always be thankful for your feedbacks and suggestions.

Do not trust ceretone. I have been waiting for a refund since August 2023 and I keep being fobbed off by unknown customer support staff. Last week I asked the support staff for his name. He is Dave, however he fobbed me off again just like all the rest. Do not trust ceretone with your money. Terrible hearing aids and forget about the refund of you find that they are rubbish like I have

    Tengo los Ceretone.
    Y efectivamente ¡son inútiles!
Emiten pitidos y aullidos como los de los gatos constantemente, amplifican por igual todos los sonidos, y taponan por completo el canal auditivo, lo que resulta muy molesto.
    Dinero y esperanzas tirados… 😢
