  • Today we take a look at Gloucester Road station in Kensington, London. While the station has two parts, one serving the subsurface network (District and Circle lines) and another serving the deep tube network (Piccadilly line), this film only shows the former.
Gloucester Road station opened as “Brompton (Gloucester Road)” in 1868 by the Metropolitan Railway. Today it is served by District and Circle line services. Originally the platforms were built in an open trench, but in 1990 a deck was added, on top of which a shopping mall was constructed. However, the station still retains its beautiful charme with its brick walls and arches.
As this was filmed in July 2016 there was still plenty of D stock in service on the District line, some of which can be seen in this film. This is already historic today.
    Enjoy!
    Recorded: July 23, 2016.
