This is seriously impressive. Being a big fan of the Underground and its history, I love this. I even call the oldest section at 0:14 “The Original Seven” or “The First Seven”. I also like how it includes the original names of existing stations before changing them to their current ones. The amount of research that must have gone into the making of this… Just… wow!
As a Londoner, I think this is a wonderful record of the development of our transport system, and also one of the most interesting RUclips films I've ever seen. I hope RUclips take note of items of historic interest and don't ever take them down. Congratulations to MetroCucumber.
Awesome. London is a world in itself, and the rail network makes it incredibly accessible. I love travelling in London, and it's the ease of getting around on the rail network that really pulls me in. Can't wait to get back there and continue exploring. So much of the rest of the country doesn't know what it means to be 20 mins walk or less from a rail station, and then being able to access the entire city in an hour at speed, without getting rained on! No parking worries, and an easy trip back home. Love getting around on the tube and rail in London.
I watched Geoff Marshall’s version many times and for some reason I can still hear his voice detailing all the extensions, closures and new lines. The level of research and detail here is absolutely incredible though… hats off to you!
Brilliant video. One of the most fascinating things is the seemingly arbitrary re-naming of stations, particularly in the early days. Good to see that the development of London Overground, and re-invention of the East London line, is well-documented
