pretty much the same thing, but from different angles. Segmentation is the overall idea of breaking things up into groups. Customer segmentation is how you segment your actual customers, do you do it by geography, demographics, psychographics, beneftis etc, then you have market segmentation which would be luxury cars, family cars, sports cars.
excellent video man, got an exam tomorrow so im glad i watched this. Just want to add one more market segment for gatorade: Australian weed smokers. Here in Australia we traditionally fashion bongs out of Gatorade or Powerade bottles by choice. The choice between Gatorade and Powerade came down to the specific preference of the smoker in question, but it has always been a choice between those 2 brands. Gatorade was the most popular but I preferred Powerade. A couple of years ago, Gatorade changed both the shape of their bottle and the thickness of the plastic used; widespread frustration and outrage ensued among my 18-25yo coned-out brethren, along with an angry boycott of Gatorade products. Not long after this event, a small company called 'Gatorbeug' emerged selling blown-glass replicas of the previous-generation Gatorade bottle bongs we so cherished, and to a significant degree of success. It's funny because they had obviously identified the market segment that Gatorade never knew they had. Hopefully Gatorade comes to their senses one day and chooses to target this market, because i think the ad campaign would be hilarious lol.
Haha I know you mostly through your travel vids but I’m interviewing for a marketing analytics gig and this came up in my search. Thanks for the video it was helpful
