For those of you who may not be tracking, city of heroes is back in its original form when it went offline. Look up the City of Heroes Homecoming. They'll have instructions on how to download and log in. This is entirely fan run, although talks are currently being done with NCSOFT to make sure legal issues are handled. Over the last month they've opened up 5 different shards with almost 30,000 returning and new players creating accounts. While the game is a little graphically dated, current PC rigs should be able to handle it on Ultra settings which makes it look fairly good. Return to one of the best MMOs of all time and I'll see you in Paragon City.
@@TimmyTheNerd which is huge and has definitely brought in a flux of new players. Servers are packed now which is really cool to see. Also, props to NCSOFT. I’ve harped on them a lot in the past, but this was a solid and completely unprecedented move. They didn’t have to do this, but as a long time fan, my hats off to them for being so chill with it. Who knows, maybe this is simply a PR build up to a new, modern ‘COH2’ in the coming years.
@@RicoRaynn We'll see. Don't know if I'd play a CoH2 though. I feel like it would be missing some of the charm of the game without people like Jack Emmert/Statesman behind the wheels.
@@TimmyTheNerd that is also true and a very real outcome based on the ‘business men’ currently polluting the AAA market. Individuals who don’t have a passion for gaming but only see financial gain in it. They’d also have to create something new which is better than the current iteration (which I’m not sure is possible with the way development is right now) in order to convince people to try it. Still, one can dream and hope.
Many beginners do not even leave Atlas, limiting itself only to a restricted area without ever knowing the world, alienating to fight imaginary enemies and ignoring the real. In contrast, a wide range of veterans depart for other works to escape the lack of time, will face the Hamidon, break the ass of Romulus traveling to the past or even kick the ass of aliens in RWZ extension, again ignoring the villains of the city. That when these veterans leave the game by feel discouraged...
DR. Aeon has defeated all heroes and villains installing the MA, the most deadly plan: every day more and more heroes get dumb with the convenience of the tool.
@Axel10011 I played City of Villains first and stuck with it for around 3 years or more, then me and a bunch of great guys moved from it to WoW. I got 3, 80's and all of em have LK titles and some even have most the heroic LK achieves but I think I'm gonna be goin back to CoV now that this is out.
I know!!! How much BS is that!? I've been playing this game since 2005 (I even remember the construction site with the construction workers walking around in Galaxy before the arena was built) That was what was awesome about CoH, every little bit of attention to detail, the same goes for CoV... I can't believe this is happening.. I actually cried for the first time in my life while reading (the piece I was reading was the CoH shutdown announcement)
@Axel10011 CoH was my first MMO, and to this day my top 2 are this and WoW. I tried LotRO for a bit, didn't get the feel for it. Love the saga of Warcraft(all the way back to the forst RTS game). The things that get me are gameplay, story, and style. CoH is still my top superhero game(DCUO looks interesting, as a HUGE comic fan, I'm just saying)
Allow me to explain tyrant (I know, 4 years), he got that powerful, and liked it, but then Hammidon attacked, took over most of the world. He struck a deal with Cole that so long as he kept conflict, he would be able to keep his city. Then nemesis invades praetoria, let's Cole and Hammie know of more world, and Cole attempts to attack to appease Hammie. Cole looses and is pushed back. Hammie is pissed but sits back, Cole doesn't make another push until hammie puts a seed in fw. Cole goes "oh shit, we gotta run, but they think we're evil" and tries to invade using war walkers and giant robots, almost wins, then the well is tapped and more incarnates show up and btfo Cole. And that's the itrials

Update to this comment:
Homecoming got a license agreement from NCSoft for their server.

"I know it's suppose to be simple, Good Vs, Evil. Right? But now I'm not so sure." That always hits me hard.

I'm a shame that I forgot why Tyrant wanted to invade, now NCSoft brought Tyrant back for a "League of Legends" clone....REALLY?!?!
True to fucking form, the game is already canceled.
