Was looking at a mint HS724 in Ontario. for $3000 ouch! but new they're $4500. This used machine in tempting but geezz that's a ton of money. They're built like a tank!
Great video! I noticed you have a Honda lawn tractor. I have a 1986 4514. How often do you change hydraulic fluid in it? Also trying to find parts? I need the white chute connecting the mower deck to the bagger. Great little tractor.
Honda service manual says, don't do this. Honda says, hydraulic oil last the life of a machine. I prefer to choose the life of the machine, not Honda. The life of the hydraulic system is closely tied to the life of the oil.
Wouldn’t it have been more likely NOT to get air in the system if you tilted the machine on the nose that way you could have used a funnel and fill through the drain hole?
If some engine oil got into the hydrostatic transmission oil of a Honda snowblower does anyone know the best way to flush it out? When drained, does every ounce of fluid drain out or is some trapped?
Yes, built-in obsolescence, with good maintenance the lifetime can be extended pass what Honda wants it to be. You see the same thing with lawn mowers, manufacturer says don't change the oil (life time engine oil) is stamped on the side of the engine. I take these lawnmowers to the scrap metal place all the time because of bad engines. Again, lifetime transmission oil is another bad joke played on people, with out going into a lot of explaining, companies make more money when things don't last as long, (they need to last long enough so people think it was a good product), but not last a lifetime where people don't need to purchase another unit.
@@FRUGALWITHJOHN you need to speak to a Honda engineer like i did and they will explain why they do not recommend an oil change... on the bright side too may ppl try anyways and then bring their machines to me when they destroy the hydro due to air pockets or for some other reason.
One of the better videos I have watched on hydrostatic drive oil change.
Thanks!
I've had my HS928 for 22 years .... purchased new. Same hydrostatic fluid.
Thanks, this video helped me.
Glad it helped
New viewer here from NFLD. Nice vids. Keep it up
Thanks! Will do!

I prefer Wheels over tracks, they do have some advantages but are hard to move around.
I'm looking at a new 928 HHS ,no reservoir on it.Can the fluid still be changed?
Thanks great vid!
I don't have the repair manual for the new ones, I will eventually purchase one when needed.
HSS modela do not have an exterior reservoir.

Does the Honda service manuel describe the process to do this?

Thats good video
Thanks
Is there a way to drain the shute oil faster?
No, slow and steady wins the race.

I never tried it that way, possible??
Appreciate ya
Thanks for watching.

Good question, a flush is a good start.
@FRUGALWITHJOHN can it truly be flushed or you mean just fill and drain a couple times?
John Johnson ?
no
Not recommended. refer to Honda shop manual. too many owners screw this up anyways.
Agree, but if done correctly, it will extend the life of the machine.
Why do this? Honda say you don't need to change that oil during the lifetime of the machine.
