They’re casually sending quad whips/1080s/double flips/front flip variations. BMX has come quite a long way in the last few years. Those used to be automatic show-stopping competition-winning tricks. Now they’re sending them mid run.
@@DB-cu4hn I've seen amateurs in person who would have won the X games in the 90s. Absolutely insane how high the bar has gotten. Makes it even crazier to think Morgan Wade has stayed competitive all these years considering he's been around since the early 00's
As Pastrana said some time ago. The progression of extreme sports over the last 10-15 years is absolutely mental! I love to see that every year these guys come back and every year they do something that drops my jaw. I can't wait to see quad backflip. With variations. Respect!
Absolutely love this format. This is a game changer when it comes to contests. Cut the fluff and get straight into the bangers. Cant wait to see more of these held in the future!
Genius cameraman. The first jump and he's so busy shooting the crowd (yeah, that's what we want to see) that we pretty much miss the first jump and then the camera angle is so bad we essentially miss the whole thing for the first rider. Like I said, very clever camera work. Please continue this awesome work.
Even the last place finisher would be considered a legend and alien to us the riders from the early early 70’s. I lived in So Cal and road with the best OG bike and skate boarders on earth. Before helmets, computers, social media or the internet. The progression is sick! You all rock!
Man this shit it just so nuts, it's one thing to do these tricks, it's another to do them so quickly one after another. When I ride downhill and there are sections where you have jump after jump with very little time in between it's very challenging since you have very little time to 'gather yourself' after you land one jump, balance yourself correctly and push off the right way for the next one. Rapid fire jumps AND performing these awesome tricks is just next level riding.
I would say cause of second jump backflip. But still in my opinion bike flip and quad whip alone should score more than 73 and bike flip was extended to the point he almost couldn't catch it + he landed all 3 jums clean. I'm bummed. I was putting him in late 80's and when I saw 73 I was thinking - WTF?
My thought exactly! I've got a question, after his 2nd run 44:50 the commentator mentions him switching his feet around, I'm not sure what that means and couldn't see it in the footage. Can anyone explain?
I had to save half the last half of the video to watch later. My heart cant handle this...how did sandoval even do that last hit? Like it doesnt make sense
Came back and finished it...2nd round is absolutely nuts. I think they judged it well....super hard with how tech the tricks were and some having huge height and others casing on the the last jump but still pulling it. Amazing job by all these champs
Well-judged Podium. But I could argue that Loupos should've gotten bronze.. Either way, Awesome competition.. I think the jumps were too small for RWilly 😂
Crazy to see that first guy up in a Free Agent shirt. I assume they sponser him. I had a Free Agent bike in the early 90's and it was the first really nice bmx bike I ever got. Absolutely loved that bike, it was insanely light and I'm sure I beat the hell out of it. Cool to see they are still around.
I’m not one to judge but no way this is a cashroll 41:28 that was just a strait up 720 he stayed perfectly upright the whole time! Someone explain to me what a cashroll is cause I thought it was more like a front flip 720 these are all just tucked in 720s
It’s wild that more people aren’t drawn to these kinds of sports. There’s no sport that is this physically demanding while being so spectacular to watch. The dedication of these guys to their craft is amazingly admirable. These guys have me audibly saying “what the fuck” with a mouthful of pad Thai while I’m sitting in my car. I’ve never participated in any extreme sports (unless you count bunny hopping 2” off the ground) but it’s still easy to appreciate what I’m seeing, even without knowledge of the nuances.
I think part of it is just that people don't like jury sports, where who wins or loses is so unclear and subjective, which I think is totally fair and understandable. I kind of have that too TBH, I love watching videos of action sports athletes, but I'm much less inclined to watch entire competitions, because the judges being the ones who decide who wins through some opaque and arbitrary standard just takes the tension away, in terms of watching competitions I prefer sports with a very clear winner and loser.
@@snapgab That’s a good point that I hadn’t considered. I just think of it like I’m watching a hockey game with 2 strong teams I’m not invested in. I watch hockey bc it’s a sick entertaining sport, and the outcome is secondary. I don’t really care who wins these, I just wanna see some peak performance in an awesome sport. You are right, though. It’s easier to market someone as a champion & create storylines with that. That’s tougher to do when victories can be so nuanced.
i was sitting here thinking "man i miss riding, lemmi see how it is today.... im 36. seing what these guys are doing at 21, hits me with reality, my time has passed on competing once again, but im still probably going to be hitting the streets of philly soon, been a decade since i pushed a chain on a sprocket.
And this does not get covered by Fox sports or any others FTA channels. How dissapointing. But boring Road Racing & Darts do. Go figure. Back in t the old days doing a tabletop was considered narly. These tricks these days are mind blowing. You almost have to watch them in slo-mo to see what they are doing. Insane.🤘.
Almost all of these 'Cashroll' callouts weren't cashrolls though. Also the callout on Toohey's and Martin's "Frontflip Bike Flip" is incorrect, they do a "Front Bike Flip". The Frontflip Bikeflip is another trick where the person actually also makes a frontflip with the bike. Other than that, very epic competition!

Love the friendship and respect these guys all give each other. These runs are maxed out on the difficulty. The best

The only sport where all are pals and the respect we give each other win or lose is genuine. Always showing the world what dignity is. Well done lads.

Let’s be honest. That bike flip @19:50 couldn’t be extended anymore. My man was maxed out flying like Superman
20:28 no hecking way!!! that grab at 19:27 was way to sick, that trick alone was worth 90
Thank you Nitro world games for putting on a banger of a show Can’t wait for the next time You guys are in Brisbane
All the riders at this event brought their A-Game. I am rewatching this and its still blowing my mind.
Progression at its best
The riding is absolutely insane. Can't lie though, the camera angles were pissing me off 😂
This is what x games is supposed to be, remember when the stadiums was packed man
Was just thinking this the turn out is so minimal now 🙁
Such low energy. Action sports died for some reason yet people cant get enough of lame sports ball watching rich cry babies
People can’t afford the cost of these experiences anymore. It’s a luxury to be able to pay $77 per person and you don’t want to enjoy it alone

The bar spins Logan Martin did were so clean you could barely see them.

How did Jaie only get "73.00" on his first run? It was probably one of the best first runs of anyone up there!
I know, that felt like a massive rort

Calling Pat Casey 720 duck down a cash roll its quite a compliment 🙃
awesome event 👍
💯 it isn’t a cash roll but still love pat
It's just how he spins his tricks. He does do actual cash rolls though.
The cash roll tailwhip was an even more generous call. Sick run but wasn't even inverted.
Ryan Williams is an absolute weapon with the tricks he comes up with man

All of these tricks are amazing. I wonder what tricks the people are going to do in 100 years from now.
If the world won't burn down by then, I expect octa flip triple cashroll double twix blindfolded. EDIT: without using arms.
