    I was an automotive tech for 46 years before I retired. My specialty was electrical, A/C, computers, drive-ability, etc. However, I have done every repair known to man over the years. I have installed many transmissions and engines and differentials that were remanufactured by Jasper Engines and Transmissions, Inc. from Jasper, Indiana. They have a huge factory set-up and don't just "overhaul" or "rebuild" their products, but actually have an assembly line "remanufacturing" operation with almost all new parts going into each product ( many times, the only original part in an engine is the block itself). They have a national parts and labor warranty of 3 years/100,00 miles (the warranty follows you wherever you go) and I have only had to warranty one transmission, which presented itself as soon as the job was done, and they immediately took responsibility for. They sent another unit out the next day to replace the defect, and they also paid all of the labor and fluids costs immediately. They deliver all over the USA and I can tell you that they build quality products and back up their work 100%.

    • @Bryan-Hensley
      @Bryan-Hensley 2 года назад

      Do they still bore only one cylinder? Turn only one crankshaft journal? I've torn down several of their rebuilds where they did this but it was 15 years ago or so..

    • @Cujo71321

      @@Bryan-Hensley, I can't speak to your experiences with Jasper Engines. They have a medallion that they attach to the engine block that says "Re-made in the USA" along with their Jasper logo. Just about the only part they use on an engine reman is the block, which is boiled out and thoroughly cleaned and tested for cracks or wear. Other that normal cylinder honing, if a cylinder needs to be bored, then all of the cylinders will be bored, with a matching new crank, oversized bearings, etc. They always replace the pistons, rings, bearings, cam, lifters, timing chain, gears, freeze plugs, etc.

    • @Bryan-Hensley
      @Bryan-Hensley 2 года назад +1

      @@Cujo71321 they didn't used to be that way. They would only bore or turn the defective ones.

      @@Bryan-Hensley I’ve had several Jasper products over the years and had nothing but good success. I wish they remanned many more foreign motors. A lot of the Asian manufacturers have their customers over a barrel when it becomes necessary to replace an engine. So it would be great to see Jasper handle more brands.

      Agree!! I have 100K miles less on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 P-U than John has on his Van. I’ve got the 5.7L Hemi w/Tow Pkg. so it’s got extra coolers for both Trans & Oil. I’m in MI and I’ve had to by a FL truck w/blown motor to have replacement body parts. Mechanically these Dodge Trucks are hard to beat. That being said, I’ve replaced the power steering pump 4 times and the Rack & Pinion 3 times. The garages around here won’t use OEM parts unless that’s the only way to get them. I think most of the ones they’re using are junk. My original parts all went well over 100K but these replacement parts can’t even last a month!! Guess I’ll have to start going to the dealer if I want OEM parts!

      You'd be surprised at some areas of the US where rust is not an issue. Even though Casey lives where it snows in Oregon, salt is not, I don't think is a major issue there so these old Dodge vans from the 90's still exist here more than you'd expect. That said, this van came in, in rough condition but it's fixable.
      That said, there are areas of the US where cars that are this old are scarce, due to the snow and salt used on the roads. Some areas are worse than others as they use salt brine year 'round so cars are good to last beyond a decade or so if bought new in the area and lived there their whole lives.

    This van mechanically is very worn out and used up. But the body appears to be in surprisingly good shape. Very few dents and almost no rust that I saw, and IT HAS WORKING POWER WINDOWS! A old white tradesman van with functional power windows! New motor, new brakes, new suspension parts, new windshield, fix the wipers and fix the broken missing pieces on the front end and this will be a very nice old van again.
    It appears that the owner at least tried to maintain the van and took reasonable care of it.

    That was so entertaining to watch taking the engine out of the van. Thanks for making the video. Maybe make the engine rebuild into a video. Thanks again.

      That 360 is one of Chrysler’s venerable engines!! Built like a Tank and if properly cared for 500K+ is possible. They were the basis for many Fleet Vehicles!!
