- I’m thrilled to present to you my fifth complete review of a Miss Universe as The Pageant Nerd. But what makes this Completely Nerdy Review of Miss Universe 2024 is that I had the pleasure of being in Mexico City for the competition itself.
Getting to meet many of the queens in the lead-up to finals night and to be in Arena CDMX for both prelims and the coronation was a wonderful, emotional, “bucket list” experience.
In this video I bring to you all the important facts, stats and trivia arising from the 73rd Miss Universe, headlined by the first ever victory by a Danish woman, Victoria Kjær Theilvig.

Wow, thank you for the lovely shoutout! There are a lot of first-timers and new countries in the semifinals this year, which is really nice to see. This is essentially Anne Khun’s first official year without Paula, and that speaks volumes. According to the news, the new Miss Universe will be hosting a traveling show. It seems like the MUO’s direction is leaning more toward “pretty” rather than “substance.” Don’t even get me started on the new MU reality show! Again Congratulation's to Victoria of Denmark and for the rest of us, 'there's always next year'. 😁
This nerd-tastic video has me set for the month-I’m very happy with this review. Good on ya, Rodger!
Paula Shugart had the powerhouses lining her pockets. The moment she is gone or on the way out, other.countries actually have a chance.
I miss this nerdy facts from TPN. So happy you are back. I hope you can also do a nerdy review of the recent finale of Miss Grand, Miss Earth and Miss International.
I really love your analysis from a statistical point of view. You keep pageantry grounded through data and your posts emerge as solid, credible historical accounts despite the turbulence that surrounded you and the entire event. Bravo.
Another nerdy fact. It was the first time the Philippines entered semis in Mexico. The Philippines never placed in all of the pageants previously held in Mexico!
Ooh I love that nerdy fact - thanks for sharing! 🇵🇭 ❤️
@@PageantNerd by the way I''m such a fan of your channel and content. Filipino here living in Melbourne. Hope to see you in person in the future and talk pageantry :D
Not exactly an acheivement when the same could be said for Argentina, Bolivia, Aruba, Ecuador, and Malaysia,
Excellent video...Right on the point comments. ❤
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
As the owner of the organization, and a millionaire, Anne continually makes stupid remarks for everyone to hear. I have never seen any pageant owner so visible. She's always seeking attention and mingles with the contestants to achieve that. It's not always a pretty scene 😑.
The other owner, the Mexican guy, is doing exactly the same thing.
@user-ye1wn3uj7e I'm sure he has his share of stupid comments, but we rarely see him speaking. He doesn't seek as much public attention as Ann does. If I close my eyes when Ann speaks, I don't know whether it's a man or a woman talking. And she simply is loud - kinda scary.
@@GoogleUser-td1ic I guess times have truly changed when the owners of these pageants now intend to steal some of the spotlight from their winners by joining them on photo shoots and getting their pictures taken as well, and/or making idiotic remarks.
As always your review and stats are super detailed and just amazing! Hope you don't stop pls. You are my top favorite pageant vlogger now so pls continue your work, don't forsake us again hehe. Looking forward for your coverage with the other pageants too.
Love ur videos with visuals coz it makes us really listen and i cant wait for the next videos as mentioned for “predertermined” or “evolution” issues for this edition.
Roger , a huge thank you for much anticipated review of Miss Universe 2024 : You are looking as handsome & debonair as ever , & so eloquent! As for your in-depth statistics & historical results! They are my favourite! How on earth you manage to be so precise: it must take hour’s of research! You deserve recognition world wide for your dedication!
Nigeria’s last placement was in 2019.
Another great episode from Roger. Good thing you came back this year after an almost a year long hiatus
Thanks very much! Very happy to be back, especially with such lovely feedback as yours 🥰
Love all the data ❤
Another fun fact: Last year's first runner up Anntonia Porsild is also of Danish ancestry. Had she won it would have been kind of a back to back.
*Congratulations!!*
As always, brilliant. The stats are amazing.
Hey, really like and appreciate your nerdy reviews and beauty pageants history! Do not ever stop doing it again, it will be our loss! 👍😁
I really enjoyed watching the stats of TPN!!! You are the best!!!!

Your commentary on the Miss Universe pageant was fantastic. Your fresh perspective and insightful references to past winners made for a truly enjoyable watch. Can't wait to see more of your content!
Thank you paqeant nerd 😊 qreetinqs from filipinas
Best analysis and research. Love it! ❤
This probably the most disappointing, most questionable and controversial edition of Miss Universe. I love the winner Ms Denmark. It’s the org that chose business and quantity over quality.
Please save the Miss Universe org and bring back its glory, honor, dignity and integrity. I honestly feel bad for the queens …
Thank you for this awesome nerdy intelligent and clever well-detailed review. Looking forward to the best one. 🙏🏽❤️👼
Thanks heaps Roger for all these completely nerdy MU stats! I love the maths and history take on pageantry 👍 I am looking forward to your views on this new JKN era mirroring Trump's, with Trump himself posting a controversial tweet about Victoria winning.
I saw in the stories that a national director won a box of chocolates with Trump's name on it and he showed it. I found this very strange 🤨
Hello, congratulations on your videos. I am a huge fan of yours. Also, if I may suggest, could you please make a separate video about Miss Nigeria and the First Runner-Up to Miss Universe 2024? She has an extraordinary story of resilience and perseverance and deserves all the spotlight. Thank you so much for everything. ;)
The last two times Miss USA unplaced in Miss Universe, both delegates represented Michigan in the national pageant.
Loving these facts! Keep it up, Roger!
You make stats so fun, Mr. Pageant Nerd. Your enthusiasm is much appreciated. I’m looking forward to your vids regarding the controversies surrounding this year’s edition. I’m hoping you speak your mind and don’t hold back. With strong voices like yours, perhaps needed changes to the pageant will come.
Miss Mexico is the new Miss USA
Thank you Pageant Nerd for your thorough review of MU 2024.❤
I echo @jameswithoutfrontiers sentiments. Love your analysis and data. So glad you decided to resume your activity on this channel. I've always enjoyed your videos. Thanks from the USA!
Jessica Miss Earth 2024 is also blonde 👸🏼
I love it, Your work is fantastic
Hey Roger! Here’s a pageant nerd fun fact… correct me if I’m wrong… in the staggered years Mario Lopez hosted in 2007, 2020 and 2024, India, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Thailand placed.
He hosted the 2020 edition not 2022. The 2022 edition was hosted by Olivia Culpo and Jeanine Mai Catriona Gray and Zuri Hall
Your nerdy Stats are always appreciated ❤
You’re very very kind, thanks for the support and the kind words!! ❤️❤️❤️
Victoria was the first Miss Universe winner to wear gloves since 1994
Yes good spot! 1994 for gloves, 2004 for the last blonde winner… can we think of something relevant about 2014?!
muy educativo, gracias!
Saludos desde Sinaloa México
Wearing sashes on the finals Swimsuit & Evening Gown? It looks like a cheap minor pageant's preliminary. Worst edition, worst production, worst camera angles, worst quality. What a mess! Horrible!!! Heart-breaking 💔💔💔
Danmark's 1963 Aino Korva is actually of Finnish origin. Mythical Aino character was the inspiration for Finland Matilda's nationall dress this year 2024.
Matilda for me has an aura of MU much more than Denmark!
@@Puffathena Matilda was my other favourite. Big disappointment that she did not make it further in the competition. Happy of course for her that she got the recognition of M*U of Europe and the Middle East
Hello Pageant Nerd! Can you also discuss about some pairs (or sets) of sisters competing in Miss Universe as well?
Before this year, Bolivia's last two placements were in the two years where Miss Universe took place in Los Angeles: 1990 and 2006.
The last time Mexico finished 2nd Runner Up was in 2019. The last time Venezuela finished 4th Runner Up was in 2005.
Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 was also hospitalized the day of the pageant due to dehydration and almost had to drop out. She had to sign a waiver in order to compete and still made top 12 🎉 so what are the other girls excuses? 😂 I’m thrilled Denmark won although I was rooting for Nigeria 🇳🇬 it’s true Denmark leaves a lot to be desired with her speaking skills. She gives responses in a very “pageantry” sort of way which can come off very rehearsed and disingenuous 🤷🏻♀️ I also don’t understand the point of the continental queen titles since none of them made any sense except for Nigeria 🙄
I think the continental queens are more of like a guaranteed semifinals spot over to the country highest placing in the region during finals.
The error they made is that they didn’t announce the continental queens prior to the top 30 announcement (4 cont. queens & 1 fan vote + 25 semifinalists)
Nigeria 🇳🇬 is miss universe
I hope Morocco hosts MU 2025, to become the first Arab nation. but more importantly, hoping the next host nation would put on a better show. I don't know how much direction the MUO owner and president have a say on the stage and production, or if it is the fault of the host country/local organizing committee
I get nervous when Arab countries hosts big events because they have a lot of rules for women, women from different countries with different cultures. Miss Universe is based on swimsuit and freedom of showing off your body. And so it would not be fair to the country and to the ladies
@The Pageant Nerd ... any thoughts on omission of Ms Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹???
6:40 Argentina also only made the first cut, or top 21, in the 2020 (held in May 2021) edition.
Yes indeed - that stat referred to the last time those countries made the SECOND cut 🙂
Love all your stats and how well you present them! So happy for Egypt 🇪🇬 and Cambodia 🇰🇭 and wow 2:10 this graphic of the debuting nations placing 🙌 Keep up the good work Roger! Happy to see The Pageant Nerd back
This was a nice overall review of the pageant. I was very disappointed with it as a fan watching from home for a host of reasons but what was your experience as part of media actually being there?
Thank you 🙂 glad you enjoyed it. I have to say that after I watched the pageant on repeat online, I understand why everyone watching remotely was disappointed. The production in no way captured the energy of the stadium, and it was a huge stadium (possibly one of the largest to watch a MU) that was almost 100% full. The camerawork was very basic and overall production quality was very average, especially compared to the other newer pageants I mentioned in the video. Especially after last year’s great show, I really would’ve expected that standard to have been matched if not exceeded, especially given there seems to be sufficient budget to send the new queen to more than 30 countries in her upcoming reign. I do hope they take on board the general assessment of the fans and make some major changes next year, wherever it ends up being held.
wowwww
Very well done. Impressive choice of timely clips. Your narrative is top-notch as well. I hope Miss Universe and Miss USA appreciate what you do for their programs.
Another trivia...the last 2 Miss USAs unplaced in MU are both from Michigan...
Oh yes, I hadn’t picked up on that! That’s an unfortunate piece of trivia for Michigan, isn’t it?! 🤷🏽♂️
@@PageantNerd Thanks for replying...Yes, it is unfortunate for Michigan!
You are amongst my top 3 pageant analysts. Hugs from Puerto Rico.
Roger is my number one. Who are your other two?
@GoogleUser-td1ic John Alicea. He's a Journalist. Very good and unbiased. The other is Alvin Sebetero from Philippines.
@@herminiofigueroa9527 Thanks. I'll check them out.
Thank you for such an informative video. ♥️
You missed to talk about Miss Eritrea which was her first time.
I was disappointed of the first 30 and ten .
There were beautiful black women out there which haven't been selected. 😢
With 11 debuting nations and 125 entrants in total it was impossible to mention everyone! I highlighted the debuting nations in some of my preview videos. But indeed seeing Eritrea at Miss Universe for the first time, which such a wonderful queen, was fantastic!
Harnaaz was also 21 when she won !

MUO is planning to stage MU pageant the same time as MGI next year. They plan to show the Universe where is the right place of MGI in the world of pageantry without its thousands of trolls and bot operators.😅
❤❤❤❤❤
I feel bad for the winner having to hear that from the organizer. Like, people are defending her win and that she deserved it, but here comes Anne implying she won because that's just what the mood calls for.
To be fair, English is not Kuhn Anne’s native language and a lot of context is lost.
So broken hearted 💔 for Chelsea did made to top 12 😢😢
Yhe owbers saif they wanted a blond, blie-eyed winner. Was there some influence from the owners?
Morocco for 74th edition
Maybe Victoria doesn’t want to talk about her abuse because she passed that she moved on and that’s very strong of her
Brilliant work Mr Pagnerd. So much detail. So many facts. So many interesting statistics building over the history of this pageant. Your spreadsheets must be running hot. Just like you. x
Miss World 2024 is more stunning than the newly crowned Miss Universe 2024.
I clicked so fast! 😅
Amen
Hi. It's not the fifth top3 for but the sixth top3 2019 2020 2024 1991 2010 and another In. The eighties
The one he missed was in 1988.
Omg its happening
It is 10:09 on nov 23rd in Canada i am at the gym and my session is over THIS IS WHAT MATTERS NOW
LOL don’t let me get in the way of your workout! 🏋️♀️
@@PageantNerd shhhh life is happening
Your vids are NEVER long enough but soooo good
Your videos are excellent! You deserve more subscribers!
So glad you are back and better than ever! You make the Miss Universe season even better! Welcome back!
23:26 to think we almost had Paraguay 🇵🇾 as the host for 2025 😮 and then Raul 🪳 pulled a Laylah Loiczly or a “take their money and ghost”. Only getting away with it because of a tiny clause at the end of the agreement
The pageant was bad as hell. I am totally confused. The top 12 was questionable, the top 05 are questionable, winners are questionable, the so-called best production was questionable and the continental awards are questionable. After watching the documentary on MU, i am pretty sure the downfall of pageant is near.
It seems some people are upset that sash factor is going away.
Love your review!☺️💜
Great review ..
third
So happy to watch this one! Glad you had safe travels and welcome back ❤😊
the worst production ever...lost prestige
Thank you for the nerdy facts!
I love your come back❤
5th....😂
Eritrea, Portugal, Australia,
Jamaica, Somalia, Switzerland,
Slovakia, Colombia were possible Top 30
Curaçao, Romania, Malta, Germany did well
Turks & Caicos was a pleasant surprise
Hii
Yaaaass let's get nerdy!!
We love you so much Roger
This contest was totally fixed! Very questionable top 5 apart from Nigeria who should have won with her answers.
Seriously, Nigeria good answers?
@@j.d.devilliers4935 YES!!! Any problem??
@@j.d.devilliers4935 Yeah, seriously
I'm just going to say it... This was the worst Miss Universe I've ever seen and I've watched every show since the 90's. Everything about it was terrible. The stage, lighting, camera angles, overall production, show format, hosting, entertainment and even the winner were all bad. Denmark is beautiful but there is nothing special about her. Her Q&A was one of the worst I've ever seen from a winner. I couldn't believe she won with the answe she gave. Finally, Anne has ruined Miss Universe. I think it needs to be taken over by someone else and they need to bring it back to the glory days coz MGI has now taken over MU as a better pageant.
This is a big joke 😅 they lost their credibility!
Please characterize South Africans properly. Chichi citizenship came into focus because in SA you cannot be SAn by birth. You have to have a SAn parent. Chichis dad is Nigerian and mom is Mozambiquan. The only way she is a citizen is fraudulently. Yes you can get naturalized but your iD number would reflect this. Her citizenship has since been canceled
You treatment of the young lady is the issue. If she is unqualified by your laws, she did withdraw from your pageant and went to where she was qualified and welcomed by their laws. But you folks didn't stop her harrassment...and you're still doing it even though she is now a full Nigerian passport holder citizen. The characterisation is therefore correct.
This competition is so rigged man & it's so clear !!! I strongly feel my country India should withdraw
India has won 3 times. 😂 There are countries who have never even placed
Talk about entitlement.
India only deserved top 30. She was trash in swimsuit.
@@salvadorhernandez7995 but Indian queens are better than many placed queens. Love from Philippines ❤❤
@@salvadorhernandez7995you didn’t understand what he said . He is saying India should give up miss universe India franchise because new owners are disgusting god knows what these clowns will make winner do . God bless Victoria with these two (both Anne and raul are shady people with shady business). Placement were definitely rigged how come best interview scorer Somalia didn’t place (her performance was good in prelims too) and how Mexico was better than Peru and Chile .
15:02- cringe!!!
I dont wanto be one of those who complains about the outcome of the placements....but the continental queens make no sense. I would be so upset if i make it to top 5, but is not chosen as a continental queen. Clearly Thailand should take the Asian crown and Venezuala the Americas. Making it to top 5 means they were the most consistent throughout the competition and deserve the continental crowns.
The continental queens were determined by the preliminary contest. Everybody who’s a true MU fan know the semifinal rankings often differ from the preliminary.
Your disguised anger towards the choice of new Miss Universe is nearly offensive. The rest of your review is not a big deal.
Muss Universe is so damaged as a pageant it’s time for Philippines to stop participating in it
