A lot of the information sounds so simple and basic, but it is really important. It's the difference between getting something you think you can use, or something you actually can use!

Might be worth mentioning the new DVLA conditions if you want to re-register a panel van as a camper van. People might want to purchase a high top van to meet the new conditions rather than a vw transporter or low roof transit

Thanks for the suggestion but currently the DVLA process is such a minefield that I wouldn't suggest anyone make any judgement on what van to buy with the expectation of getting it reclassified. Although the DVLA have offered guidance on the kind of things they expect to see as external features - they are not conditions/criteria. The actual criteria is that it looks like a Motor-Caravan externally, which clearly is subjective. Some have met this criteria and passed without all the suggested exterior features and others have had all the suggested exterior features and still not passed. You can see my video on the latest guidelines (Oct 2019) here ruclips.net/video/OJoNdQDLZVo/видео.html Reclassifying has limited benefits and there are no issues with using a Van as campervan without it being reclassified as long as you declare the modifications to your Insurance company.

Great video! Exactly the video I needed.
I'm wanting to convert a van but as you said in your video, I'm one that can only drive upto 3.5t
I'm concerned about a build taking the weight over. However I'm a total newbie at this so doing as much research as possible.
This is the first video I've found of yours so going to go through your others now 😊
