  • Well hello and welcome back to my Cloth diaper series, in this video we're going to be making the all important wet bag for those wet diapers. On the outside we have just some fun cotton fabric and on the inside we have a material called PUL. PUL is a waterproof fabric that a lot of cloth diaper sewist use for making cloth diapers, wet bags and other cloth diaper related items. So come along with me while I show you step by step what you need to do to make your own cloth diaper wet bag.

    Thank you for sharing Fath. I like the fact that the bag is lined. Very nicely done.

    Thank you for the video. I really do wish you would've shown the part of cutting g the zipper off and slow down on bringing the fabric inside out. Looking forward to your other videos.

    Hello. I see this is an old video. However, it isn't clear what the cut sizes of your fabrics are. At the beginning, you say it's 13 x 13. Then when you are sewing the side seams, you mention there is a 15" side. Now, I'm wondering if all fabrics are cut 13 x 13 as you've only rotated the bottom seam upwards by 2 inches and mentioning a 15" side is a mistake?
    Also, do you find your wet bag leaks at the seams or zipper sections?

      I didn't have any leaks in mine but I also didn't put anything super wet either.

    Thanks a lot for this great tutorial; you explain really well and the camera job is very good too. 🌸🌸 Although it’s not clear, for me, I have just realized , the dimensions of the fabrics. Is it 13 x 15?

    How do i make 100% waterproof seams? I would like to make a "rooting chamber" for aeroponics gardening system which will replace plastic containers. Good tutorial.

      I am not an expert, but you could try different materials, threads and see what what would work for what you needed. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

    Confused bout fabric size as well. Made two bags however there is a seam across the back. Shouldn’t the seam be along the bottom? Did twice as I wasn’t sure if back fabric was a different size than front? Thanks

    • @faithwerksdesigns6197
      @faithwerksdesigns6197  4 месяца назад

      It was in the back so that the fabric was facing the right way on each side, when you look at the front it's facing the right way and when you look at the back it's facing the right way.

    Hi from Australia. Love your video on the Harry Potter zipper wet bag, but confused about the size of the fabric pieces. 13 x 13 inches doesn't seem right to me when the zipper is 2" down on the front panel. It is very confusing. Please clarify measurements for each of the outer fabric pieces and each of the pul pieces. Thankyou very much.

      Hi! It is 13x13 and then you meet it up on the back. I guess I need to redo this video and explain it a little better.

      Hi again Faith. I have just rewatched your wet bag video and before you sew down the side seams after putting in the zipper you refer to the 13 inch side and the 15 inch side. So obviously the fabrics are cut 13 x15, not 13 x 13. Like many other comments this is where the confusion is.

    Please verify the beginning sizes of your fabrics ( top and bottom of both cotton outside and PUL inside.) Video is confusing on this.

    What sewing settings did you use to sew PUL? I tried sewing it and it shifted on me. What type of needle? Stitch length, Tension? Thank you

      Regular tension, did you use a walking foot? That might be your issue.

      I did not the first time. I used a Teflon foot last time and worked better. Thank you. @@faithwerksdesigns6197

    I want to sew "peeing pad" with batting, PUL at the outside and flannel inside. Can I quilt it ( not a lot like a quilting! Just to old the 3 layers together when I wash it.) I s that possible to make 2-3 sewing lines with the PUL without leaking?

    • @faithwerksdesigns6197
      @faithwerksdesigns6197  3 года назад

      Normally you'd sew the absorbent layer to the top layer, around it to make it easier and one seam down the middle. But that's all the quilting I'd do. Also, check out zorb, it is a VERY absorbent fabric that works great for those because you don't have to use as many layers.

    I'm confused, what are the dimensions of all 4 pieces? You mention, the PUL is 13 inches across, but how long is the first piece?

    Are all fabric pieces 13x13? You didn’t state the size of the first fabric

    So the backside is upside down?

    • @faithwerksdesigns6197
      @faithwerksdesigns6197  9 месяцев назад

      If you do it all in one piece, you could cut them apart and add seam allowance so it's not but the point was making it so it was one piece of fabric.

    How would you add a handle? Like the ones that Smart Bottoms has on theirs?

    • @faithwerksdesigns6197
      @faithwerksdesigns6197  3 года назад +1

      You could make the type of handle you want and then make a seam in the top? That takes a bit of math lol but it can be done.

      @@faithwerksdesigns6197 this is a link to my “mesh bag” imgur.com/a/MtSSx9Y. I used an interfacing on my cotton fabric and a cotton liner. This will hold my Tula! I can’t wait to get my PUL in and make some small ones. Thank you for the tutorial! Are you on Facebook?
      Edit: I attached the handle with the same cotton outside fabric. I finished the edges and then put the handle side on the inside of the pouch before I sewed the edges just above the zipper. I wanted to make the snappable one and will when I make my next one. I didn’t cut the fabric wide enough and my snaps don’t come in until Monday anyway.
