I would die to hear Horowitz version. He played it as his final exam at the conservatory and received standing ovations for the first time in the history of the institution
Horowitz should have made way more out of his talent, he was ridiculously well-talented but wasted too much of it treino to figure out his existencial questions IMHO
I dont think the world will ever understand just how technically gifted Grigory Ginzburg was. Listen to his Don Juan, his la campanella, his Bach-Busoni Chaconne and his transcription of "Hall of the Mountain King".
I enjoyed all three performances, and appreciate each of the pianists for their unique interpretation. Its a treat to the ears to have variation, and I do believe that each pianist here has achieved it in their own way. A large opera transcription like this one, has a lot of scope for both improvisation in certain parts, and adherence to score in others, and its up to the pianist to decide what to choose... only one request, no matter whether you have or have not played the piece, unless the pianist commits serious blunders, kindly avoid the word 'supposed', and just say you wouldn't prefer it in your opinion. I love Petrov and Sauer's interpretation of this piece and a few more pianists come close too.
@@herobrine1847well Midi can't play expressively they can only play notes, dynamics, rubato, accelerando, crecendo, etc... But can't play recitativo, dolce, scherzando, pesante, delicatamente, sotto voce, etc...
He says he doesn't comment on the pianists but on the piece. Putting Cing Chang Ping Pong (known by the three cats and defined as "great pianist") in the middle of Lang Lang and especially Ginzburg, famous for his touch (which he compares to ching chang bung bang) I find simply ridiculous. It is likely that it is another channel that is part of the "Divina Fanatic" group and others that do nothing but talk about the great pianist Ciung ciang bung bang to advertise him because those who really know about music consider him less than zero.
@@duartevader2709 What would this quality of his be? Simply moving your hands quickly without any expression, without passion is not a quality. Who knows why kids like it, or people who understand little about music. Instead, as I had already written, by those who count, it is considered less than zero.
@@tizianoferenc4630 so, are you saying that having absolutely incredible technique, considerably better than most concert pianists, is not a quality? And he also does have some very nice passionate performances
@@duartevader2709 He gets tons of notes wrong, skips entire bars. These are things that if you don't know the composition well, no one will notice. To be a great pianist you need much more. Nothing against anyone who loves this pianist, but for me it's nothing special. He has no passion, every interpretation of his is very cold, not very clean, he makes a lot of mistakes. It's not just me saying it. Everyone lately has been saying how incredible her interpretation of Josef Wess' Carmen is. Ok, listen to other pianists and you will hear (I hope) the huge differences in playing clearly, cleanly, flawlessly, instead of wanting to amaze the listener by simply moving your hands quickly.
Don Juan is not garbage. If you actually listen to it, it has many great melodies and intense parts. And I’m not saying that just because Liszt is my favorite composer.

I'd love to hear Scriabin playing this.
Lang-lang: played it as the score
Him: he played it like the midi
Lang-lang: added a bit rubato
Him: he violates mozart original intent
The score has expressions, and he’s not doing it, that’s why I said that its’s midi
