Thank you for uploading this jewel of a performance. I remember when it first came out and I heard it on the radio but never purchased it when it was available. Then it was withdrawn. It was always one of the finest performances of this work that I have heard.
when you are playing a videogame and you think you already defeated the final boss and beat the game 49:27 But triumphant music goes dark mode and boss' body starts glowing and evolving 51:30 (Seriously, that strings "sul ponticello" effect is sick in that part)
Very good detail observed! this beautiful trumpet line in "the Ball" is not respected in almost all the versions of the symphony...is so ingenious and beautiful...apart from this rendition, Colin Davis`s has it!
@@TheVoitel Just for not having in the score they shouldnt? I just say that a completed version exists; Look for the Edited version of Edward T. Cone( a Norton critical score), and this trumpet line is pure genius( Im a "large than life Berlioz fan" and also a professional musician and have studied his life for decades) just discovered its existence in 2006. I recently heard another performance with the "detail "apar t from Davis´s.
@@TheVoitel Its Ok man! That I said : "almost no version respect that" was something too passionate...jaj..The official version don´t have this detail, which Berlioz consider just for an special performance of the work.I find it very creative and a necessary counterpart for the whole movement. In my opinion...Today I feel the lack of it in almost all the versions I have, that´s all.
played this, while dating another orchestra member that i was kind of pining for at the same time. too inexperienced. so could relate to the program of the music very personally at the time. good times but i want a do over!
Compare this to Herbert Von Karajan/Berlin Philharmonic (1965 recording); you may notice a difference, especially with the 5th movement ending, Karajan much more dynamic where Abbado is quite flat, doesn't bring the ending to a climatic conclusion: ruclips.net/video/Q638gsvyNWc/видео.html
The greatness of this symphony that Abbado conducts with exquisite skill does not change no matter when I listen to it

Intoxicating music.😀
Me encantan los clarinetes del ultimo movimiento ❤🎻
Especially piccolo clarinet (John-Bruce Yeh, I suppose). Never again I heard it so thrilling powerful and tastefully 'excessive'!
