Back in 2008 had a Western Star, governed at 62mph, with identical feature to passSmart that would give an extra 5 mph to pass slower vehicles and then disengage after a few minutes. You couldn't use it again until another 15 minutes have elapsed. That feature was great, take stress out passing especially having a slow truck trying to pass a slower truck or RV and not backing up traffic making people behinds angry at you. I thinks it's a safety feature and should be incorporated in every governed trucks.
Yeah I would never work for someone with trucks that slow. My company has trucks governed at 75mph so the only drivers I can’t pass are cattle haulers.
I have a company truck and only see very minor changes. Soft closing hood. And a plug in USB. This is wild that they haven't changed hardly anything. I guess that's saying something.
Not a bad rig however I would have gone with the #GreenAPU It weighs less than the Tripac and has a built in condenser. There is no ugly looking fan on the back of the sleeper. It uses less fuel per hour. It comes with a 3 year factory warranty. It's also quieter. It also costs less. The best part is that it's user friendly and replacement parts can be bought at any auto parts store.
You should of left the sun visor or add window tint to act as a shade like a sun visor. Remove the wind deflectors they create turbulence and make water dance around the side windows, leaves them dirty when it dries.
According to freightliner they say reducing drag helps the environment from wind pollution and prevents birds and bugs from getting in front of you when you drive 😂😂😂, like a car salesman they just spit whatever bullshit to sell people vehicles
I paid cash for a used 2019 Cascadia. I average 8.7 MPG. It's got the most reliable emissions system and cheapest parts of any truck on the road. I have Diagnostics Link thru DTNA on my laptop so I can troubleshoot and clear or fix almost any fault on the road and change parameters at will myself. It's the Toyota Camry of trucks. It consistently and significantly increases my profit margin which should be the goal of anyone in business. I don't have a visor on my truck and wouldn't want one. Not for aerodynamic reasons, but because they look effing ridiculous.
Double the size of the fridge bring it up to the microwave. Bigger fuel tanks right up to rear fender with ladder Peterbilt style. Def door open up instead of down. Mandatory trailer hand brake valve in every unit.
I drive a Cascadia. They do a lot right and some little things crazy wrong. They should really ask a driver what they are doing wrong and fix it. It’s surprising that they don’t test them before they put them in production
Outside of the double USB C slots in the top 12v dash socket, I see absolutely zero changes over my 23 (can't say I know anything about the engine specs).
Step op compared to how North American trucks typically look like. But a long way from a modern Scania or Mercedes Actros. Where is the full LED dashboard with touch and navi ? The huge integrated fridge and storage boxes ? Wireless charging of devices ?
I have the 2022 cascadia 12 speed auto and let me tell you its garbage. The 400 hp model just has no power. No power to climb or pass. SFI specs these trucks to be barebones. Interior is low quality. For $160k truck you expect better. Mine comes with that stupid onguard that sits smack dab in the center of the windshield which is a serious design flaw. It blocks your vision.
I considered an SFI truck when I first became an O/O but I didn't like their trucks and the Terms so I went to a dealer where I got exactly what I wanted with no stupid "extras".
@mikelarry7521 if you go 70-75 mph cruise control is just not feasible. You are passing all the time. Now if your a 65 driver like 90% yes you can use cruise. The mileage is only one complaint I have.

@firstamendmenttshirt4768 unfortunately most big companies don't care about the small family, it's the bottom dollar what matters. And a guarentee big check is better then a maybe small one.
@michaelcopeland8985 I might buy one, but they like to dick me around so I can tell kenworth pererbilt Volvo to go eat shit, oh and mack. Yes, I already know how much they hate the owner operator.
Have any of you used these solar panel equipped trucks? I've used solar panels on my home in winter and they're pretty useless in Canada. With the sun low on the horizon you get fewer hours of charging with less intense sunlight so I'd imagine with a truck it'd be even more impractical as the odds of you being parked in the daytime and facing the sun are likely slim. Seems like the increase of aerodynamic drag from the panels would end up costing more, not to mention the tendency of flexible panels to degrade over a short period. I want "renewable" energy to be viable but in my experience, it's far from being so. Would love to hear from people using these solar setups...has it been worthwhile?
I had an international with the solar panel. What is cool is it keeps the batteries charged. But unlike this video you can't jump start your truck or help out because of the extra juice.
Hopefully better steering than 2023 cascadia. Mine came from the factory steering 10 to 2 terrible for a new truck. Still trying to get fixed or replaced steering box. Also mine not electronic. Is the 2024 cascadia trucks electronic steering? Miss the kenworth 680.
Who provides the bag to wear over your head so that no one sees you in a Freighter? Detroit has never made a reliable engine brake. But what do you expect from an iron anchor that must be idled at no less than 1000 rpm to maintain oil pressure?

Very nice rig. Some guys seem to think their manhood is somehow connected to a manual shifter. No one can select the right gear better than a computer. It's a simple fact. I have yet to see one female trucker complain about an automated transmission.
I could count multiple times daily that the computer picked the wrong gear when I drove an auto Cascadia. Now that I have a 13 speed, it's always in the right gear.
